Jack and Jill’s Play Place

We just went to Jack and Jill’s to play during this storm, and everything has been removed — not open;(Maybe they are under construction? Wish that would have been shown online. We came all the way from Fairfax in the pouring rain.

When it’s hot outside and you’re desperate for someplace air conditioned to entertain your children, look no further than Jack and Jill’s. This play center is really amazing and will keep young children occupied for hours. I have a 18 month old girl and a 6-​year old boy, and they both found fun things to do here. I think my son is at the very top of the age appropriateness here, and by next year he’ll have outgrown it, but for now he’s still happy to play with the trains and race cars down the track. He also totally enjoyed Scott the Storyteller, who visits during some afternoons and is completely charming. My daughter loved the play food and kitchens and the large stacking blocks. I enjoyed the free coffee and ability to sit down and relax for a moment while my kids played.
There are several different play spaces, including an infant area with mats and baby toys (big kids not allowed here), a theatre with dress up clothes, reading area with books and puzzles, three big play kitchens with tons of play food, a race track where two ride-​on cars can be driven down a track, a construction area with building toys, train tracks, a doll house and so much more. Everything is very, very clean, and there are bins to place any toys that may have gotten dirty so they can be sanitized. There are a couple of bathrooms that are child-​friendly and have changing facilities.
Admission for the first child is $ 10. Second child is $ 8. Get a frequent visitor card and you’ll earn stamps toward a free entry. This is a no-​shoes play space, so be sure to bring socks. You can also bring snacks and drinks, but they must be kept in the dining area and not in the play areas. If you’ve got young kids, you need to check out Jack and Jill’s!

Jack and Jill’s is a fantastic play area in Terra Linda. I was there for the first time a couple of month’s ago for a meeting and have been back a few times with my almost 5 year old daughter. It has been there for a year, but I had never heard of it, and I want to help get the word out. I wish someone had told me about this earlier.
The place is large, with 4 distinct rooms, a big stage with tons of pristinely kept dress-​up clothes and where kids can perform and see themselves on a screen, an art section, great train table, well-​stocked play kitchen, building materials, a full reading room with a doll house. There is also a big room with tables for snack time. I’ve seen early walkers there having fun and my almost 5 year old loves meeting there for play dates. Great way for parents to hang out while kids are safely exploring. And, it only costs $ 10 per child (or less if you buy a punch card) for as long as you want to stay.
The owner is really nice and does such a good job maintaining the place and making everyone feel at home.

This is a great place for a rainy day !!! But is $ 10.00 all day play !! Clean n lots to do …

My son and I love to come visit Jack & Jill’s, and have been coming for drop in play since early 2013 when it opened in San Rafael. He’s 5 now, but still enjoys the creative play that takes place.
On certain days there are different activities offered (Mommy and Me art, Japanese Story Time, etc.) There are also many rooms, toys, and activities to choose from. These days my son can be found playing with play dough, looking at books in a quiet room, building blocks, trying on costumes, dancing on stage, climbing the dinosaur, playing in the store, and creating his own art.
I enjoy the free coffee, the fact that everything is very clean (!) chatting with the owner, Kurt, watching the interaction between children, hanging out with other moms and care givers, creating art alongside my son, and meeting there for play dates.
We haven’t yet tried the Parent’s Nights Out, but I’m looking forward to doing that for date nights.
Also, a tip — purchase the prepaid Drop In Play card for a discount.

I cannot say enough about Jack and Jill’s. We just had my child’s birthday party here, and it exceeded my expectations. I am very, very impressed. The owner, Kurt, has thought of everything, and he really cares. The place is safe, well equipped, fun and CLEAN! The birthday party package was a fantastic value, and the easiest party we’ve ever done. They even take care of all the clean up. LOVE!

We LOVE Jack & Jill’s. My 4 ½ year old twins can spend hours here, time after time, and always have a great time. They love dressing up, pretending in all of the play areas (kitchen, work bench, book area, etc). They love using the stage to make pretend shows. They also love the craft area where they can color, draw, do play doh and make their own creations. Kurt, the owner, is super nice and always wanting to make sure you’re having a great time. We will continue to frequent Jack and Jill’s and to spread the word so others get to enjoy this wonderful play place.

This is a hidden gem! It would be a perfect spot for birthday parties, playdates and moms’ groups to meet up. I am a former preschool teacher so VERY picky about cleanliness of children’s spaces and I was über impressed. It’s so well organized, huge, inviting, and comfortable. Everything has been thought of! Each room has tissues, sani, chairs for parents, etc. Bathrooms are fully equipped with a changing table with wipes, disposable covers, etc. There’s even a room for eating with tables, chairs, a microwave, sink, free coffee etc. When I went there was a lovely woman leading a very cool music class with tons of real drums, scarves, etc. I think she does music there a few times a month. I can’t express enough how great of an option this is for young children and families in Marin.

Woohoo! What a great find! Close by, easy to get to and plenty of parking, this is a fantastic place to kill a few hours with your little ones. The owner is friendly and helpful, and full of new ideas he wants to bring to the place. His passion shines through making you want to like the place even more.
The play areas are separated into several different sections (not separated by doors though — that’s good) and at times it feels like there’s too much to choose from! A kitchen, grocery store, work shop, drawing area, dress up, books and puzzles, climbing structure, mini roller coaster, train sets, this list goes on. There is surely something for every little kid here. In addition, Fridays there are added extras such as music time or story time, all included in the drop-​in fee.
Drop-​in is $ 10 per child (free for the accompanying adult) and you can stay as long as you want. You can sign up for 10 or 6 sessions in advance and get a discount, or just pay as you go and get a card stamped on each visit; after 10 visits your 11^th is free.
Bathrooms are large and clean, as is the kitchen area. There are a few snacks available to purchase but you’re much better off bringing your own. Fortunately, eating is confined to the kitchen area and not allowed in the play areas.
There is a great need for a place like this in San Rafael/​Marin, and I’m sure it’s going to be/​stay a huge success. We love it!

OMG — the best place ever for my under 1 year old! she’s crawling and there’s not many places i can take her where she can crawl around until her hear is content. and lots of toys. i’ve made two new toy purchases just based on how much she loved them at this place — so bonus is that you get to see what kinds of toys your kids love before buying them.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! We came here for a friend’s 2^nd birthday & the kids all had a blast! Perfect place for 2yr olds to play! Parent supervision is advised for the racer cars, but other than that the kids can roam & play as there are dolls, play food, trains, trucks, dinosaurs, etc!
The Northgate Mall is just across the way with 2 play areas for kids, but the big kids tend to take over. Jack&Jills doesn’t have any climbing structures, which I am happy about frankly. If you want climbing & jumping, so to a park or gymnastics place.
The bathrooms are conveniently located in the play area. Only 1 bathroom has a changing table. Might be nice to have a child’s toilet seat.
They do have an area to put bags/​coats/​etc adjacent to the kitchen area. Its cute that they have a kids picnic table– very helpful. Highchairs are also available.
Overall, GREAT for kids under 5, especially when you want to stay indoors.
**Drop-​In Play is $ 10 per child from the age 1 year old and up. Under 1 year olds are free with a paid accompanying sibling or $ 5 if no sibling. Adults are free. There is no time limit. Stay and play as long as you like!**

This is a great spot for an indoor play — esp with toddlers and crawlers. I took my 3.5 year old there today and she played happily for 3 hours. There is a lot of stuff to do, but small enough (and confined) that you can feel comfortable knowing your toddler may be out of sight, but is safe and happily playing. They’ve got tons of stuff — art supplies, kitchen set, dollhouse, dinosaurs, train tracks, blocks, books, dress up clothes, mats for the little ones to crawl on, a small plastic «roller coaster» car, and all sorts of little «rooms» with different themes. LOTS to do. No jumpies — it’s not really a place to run around but rather to let the imagination go wild. They have a nice kitchen area where you can bring lunch and they sell a couple of very basic snacks (but you’d want to pack lunch). I didn’t see anything nearby for lunch but don’t know the area at all, so maybe there is something I missed.
Oh, and the last Saturday of the month, they are offering drop-​off «date night» for mom and dad — from 4−7pm for $ 15 first child, $ 10 for the sibling! The best deal in town! That includes basic snacks, pizza dinner, and activities. Potty trained kids.
I love that this place is open ALL DAY from 8:30−5. I’m always on the hunt for someplace we can go in the afternoon, when every other activity is closed.
Kurt, the owner, is super nice, and has lots of great ideas. Their website is currently under construction, but I highly highly encourage everyone to check it out. I really want to see this business succeed b/​c it is so needed in Marin! Great place for kids under 5.
