It is with a heavy heart that we post this notice: Elephant Pharm, which has served over 1 million customers in four Bay Area markets, has closed indefinitely.

IF you are one of the unfortunate folks who are looking for a refill of something that you originally had filled at Elephant Pharm, here’s what you can do:
1. Bring your vial (or box) of medicine, labeled by Elephant Pharmacy, to your NEW pharmacy (Walgreens, Rite Aid, Costco, Longs, whatever.) IF it is not an URGENT medicine, this is the easier way to do this.
2. Your NEW pharmacy can contact your prescriber, explain the situation, and get the remaining refills (as a ‘phone’ prescription.) Of course, this still means that you have to provide your insurance information to your new pharmacy. Please have that handy.
3. Your co-​pay should be the same as when you had the medicine filled at Elephant Pharmacy. If there are insurance issues, please be patient.
OMG, i just realized that Elephant Pharm pulled this cr-​p in the first few days of the month (busy time for Medi-​Cal patients.) Genius, guys… real Genius.
CLEARLY, these people did NOT have your HEALTH as a priority, at the end of the day. No «reliable» health care provider closes their doors ABRUPTLY with no notice.

You know what I deeply regret? Their tubes of $ 40 skin cream and $ 20
«herbal» diaper rash cream. It’s called online shopping.
WHAAAAAT? This is completely irresponsible! I cannot *imagine* having to go through this.
Say, you have 11 refills remaining on your blood pressure medicine.
If you filled your prescription here, they want you to go BACK and make ANOTHER doctor’s appointment (possibly) or at the very least, contact your doctor (you know how that goes, people) and get a new prescription? WHAAAAT the hell?

I love this place. First they carry the hard to find green diapers that I use for my daughter. With the case discount they offer (10%) the price is only slightly more than buying them online, and I get them right away. Elephant seems to understand that the products they sell are not the cheapest, and they offer frequent sales and their frequent buyer program to soften the blow. I love this place, and could wander around for hours looking at all the great stuff they sell.

I cannot stay out of this store. When I can’t find something anywhere else I usually find it here. Today it was for a birthday present for a 3-​year-​old.
Benadryl lotion, a fabulous collection of cards & gifts, my favorite vitamins, shampoos, hair accessories, snacks, journals, & even good wines & beers (yum yum Red Stripe).
The pharmacists provide counseling or advice & they offer eastern meds as well as western. The staff is always nice, but not too nice.
If you haven’t been in yet, you’ve got to check it out. I think you, too, will be impressed.

I’m always pleased when I go in somewhere and not only there is everything I need at my fingertips, but also helpful staff, and chocolate for sale. Yes, chocolate is for sale at Elephant Pharmacy, precariously located at the point of sale area for the perfect quick pick me up.
Grabbing an Odwalla chilled beverage at the front of the store for fuel, I began my search for the non-​electric heating pad so it doesn’t burn my girls back while she’s out of commission. I find a variety of different shapes and brands of exactly what I’m looking for. Colors galore (nothing that she’d love, but I guess it’s just a heating pad right?), and shapes for the neck, eyes, and back. Grabbing the box, I go to the homeopathic remedies looking for an anti-​inflammatory that’s topical and begin to get lost immediately. Looking like the sorry soul that I do when I’m lost, I was spotted by one of the very helpful team members there, who guided me perfectly along my way to complete and total success.
Easy, quick, and not too overpriced, Elephant Pharmacy has exactly what I need for when I don’t feel great, for when I do, and things to keep me that way. A knowledgeable herbologist was in the store who actually knew what they were talking about, and it is organized and easy to navigate through the pills and topicals and sprays. I even saw my not tested on animals organically fabulous face care system there by Juice Beauty. I could shop there for myself and for gifts. Perfect considering I have very little time and I’m all about efficiency and multi-​tasking.
Oh, did I mention that as I checked out at the front counter, there was Scharffenberger chocolate available just to my left. Grabbed one for myself, and some for the crew. Let’s just say, my girl was happy with her nice warm little back pillow and my other friends loved the chocolate. I came out a winner, and looked like a million bucks. I’ll so be back there to shop for me next time, and soon.

This place has anything regard to health and beauty. They have a lot of organic and green products too. Please remember to bring your reuseable bags when shopping here and everywhere else.
When I was on my master cleanse diet (which I do not recommend to ANYONE) required to drink laxative tea every night. I didn’t know what that was and where to find it. My friend recommended Elephant Pharmacy. I am wondering why I never stopped into this store before.
They had the laxative tea in so many different brands and flavors I just closed my eyes and picked one. They also have organic vitamins for adults and children. They also have skin products for sensitive skin or people with allergies.
I will continue to come to Elephant Pharmacy NOT for laxative tea but their hair and skin products.

***Dive into the $ales, regale in the beauty-​polishing, and seek your true inner healer here. Like some other reviewers said, the idea of it is remarkable but sometimes, pricey and lacking in the follow-​through, ie, replacement cartridges for the groovy recycled razor you just shelled out for.
***Otherwise, I am more lovely and aromatic since getting dolled up here!

This is not your grandmother’s pharmacy. Although it does bring to mind the drug store of the past, where you would go to have an ice cream soda, buy some penny candy, and hang out.
E-​Pharm is a place to hang out. Not only do they offer natural alternatives to over-​the counter medicines (with plenty of staff members to assist you), the place is just begging you to stay. They do this by offering tons of free classes (yoga, meditation, tea tastings, acupuncture… you name it, either interactive or informative), and offering every product under the sun which carries even a slight «natural» connotation. They even have a play area for the kiddies so that you can read the back covers of their many health tomes in relative peace. There is a make-​up area set up in the middle of the cosmetics section so that you can try out the various products, which helps to take the guesswork and disappointment out of buying straight from the package.
If you have a favorite product line such as Kiss My Face or Zia or Jason, they carry all of it. So you can be covered head-​to-​toe in Pamplemousse, or whatever your scent of choice may be. In the food area, they carry various products and a nice assortment of teas.
Need a present? Really easy to find here, including the wrapping paper and card (Papyrus paper and tasteful, letterpress cards, not your usual drug store variety). How about a palm wax candle — burns clean and lasts longer than the ordinary wax ones.
The staff was very nice and we walked away with some nice free publications on natural remedies and local food, and a schedule of their upcoming classes.
You may go in for a decongestant, but you are sure to come out with a lot of other things you didn’t know you needed… so hold tight to your wallet if you are on a budget. However, the lure of E-​Pharm is strong and resistance… is…futile.

I love the idea of this place. I like their products a lot. But somehow it just doesn’t all come together for me. For instance, they sell these cool eco-​friendly toothbrushes that allow you to toss the brush part and add a new brush to the old handle piece (you know, like razors and razor blades). However, they don’t sell the replacement brushes!!! Huh? The staff are very nice but hardly seem like they have any authority or care about such things. EXCELLENT selection of organic cosmetics and such — probably better than any one place around. Prices are a bit steep. Check out the calendar of free store events — everything from yoga to some really esoteric (and entertainingly-​titled) lectures/​classes.

I wanted to buy my son a metal ‘sippy cup’ since plastic is leaching cancers into our bodies and killing us off, I bought myself one too. Somebody has to take care of this kid.
Really cool and interesting stuff; incense, herbs, beauty products, probiotics, baby supplies, pet supplies, yoga whatever-​u-​use for yoga, just very interesting items.
I went in for a water bottle and spent $ 56, I got $ 10 for some special they were running (spend $ 50 get $ 10 or something). I made it out of the store with 2 water bottles, 1 candle, and a pair of sterling earrings.

was here about a year ago when it first opened and thought it was FABULOUS.
had some health issues that i wanted to get vitamins and supplements for, and the pharmacist actually took me in an evaluation room for a completly complimentary analysis of what I changes I should be making with supplements and dieting. SUPER helpful.
She then proceeded to show me around different areas of the store and recommend a few GREAT products (I still swear by them).
I feel that so many doctors are so quick to prescribe antibiotics and medication and scoot you out the door. This was a nice alternative.

It seems like every item in the store is $ 4 more than anywhere else. i wanted some Avalon Organics Bath Gel, and they were charging $ 9+ for it… Since I knew I could walk across the street to Trader Joe’s and get it for $ 5.49, I did just that. I also noticed that the Meyer’s Clean Day Dish Soap was $ 3 more than Bed Bath & Beyond, and that was pretty shocking, as I thought BBB tried its best to be the highest store around. The Jurlique stuff was also more than at the boutique on Fillmore in SF. Overall, I still want every damn item in the store, but I can’t justify spending that much more money, so I’m going to have to try to avoid this place (it won’t be hard, as I really loathe that area of San Rafael w/​the one way streets). The staff at Elephant Pharmacy isn’t overly friendly either, but hey, they’re such cool hippies.
