Canine & Company

Canine & Company have taken wonderful care of our rambunctious mini Aussie puppy since she was 4 months old, watching her carefully with other pups. It’s like a play date for Ellie when she goes there! They welcome her at drop off time like she’s part of her family. The love and attention is great.

These guys are great. It’s a family owned business and they are really down to earth, friendly, fair and accommodating. They treat their customers like real people and make the process very simple. They really love the animals in their care — my dogs are always calm and happy when I drop them off and pick them up, which is very different from other pet boarding experiences they have had where they have been much more anxious before and after. Thanks Canine & Company — you guys rock!

Jane has been such an awesome surrogate mom to our little Finn monster. He’s a wild one and Jane has matched him up with a stable of equally active pups. He spends every week day there and every day his tail wags and he races down the hall to his «studio» without a backward glance or even a bye mom, deep sigh… With Jane and Chris and Thomas I know my pup is having a great day every day!

In need of some daycare for my energized year old pup (and occasionally my 13 year old), I visited several establishments. I liked Canine & Company immediately for the location, the facility (super clean, well-​lit and nice play area outdoors), & hours. I like the way they treat my pups. I like how tired my pups are after having had playtime with like personalities. I like how they get excited when they walk through the door to go back. So happy I found Canine & Company!

I have tried a few different day cares in Marin, and Canine and Co is definitely my favorite and hopefully the only one I’ll ever take my doggy to again. Canine and Co does a great job of keeping their service affordable without sacrificing cleanliness, doggy supervision, or good management. It’s not a huge place, but they have multiple indoor playrooms and an outdoor area for the doggies. Most importantly, my dog — Ivy — is really happy there. She wiggles and smiles and wags her way in the door, and the second they open the door to the play area she runs in without so much as a backwards glance at me.
Everyone who works there is so kind and helpful and they seem to love Ivy almost as much as I do.

Took my corgi here for a week during Thanksgiving break. She loved it and came back bathed. Also loved that they returned my call right away when I asked how she was doing during our vacation. Am planning to use them again and definitely have recommended them.

We love Chris, his mom, and the whole experience. Canine & Co. is in a former vet hospital, which means there are lots of separate rooms and rooms for the dogs to hang out in. This is great for our dynamic duo who really prefer to hang out with each other, rather than other dogs. Additionally, the pricing is very fair — we really appreciate not having to pay double for our two pups!

I’ve been trying to find a place to leave my dog over the weekend for almost a year. I was very disappointed and I tought there will not be a place for my spoiled dog where he can feel like home until I found canine & company! They not only treat him nice but they were nice enough to send me emails with updates on my little boy.

Happy with the customer service. Seemed like Hansel was very happy when he returned home and was comfortable in the facility and with the people.
The owner returned phone calls quickly and was very attentive to our needs and wants with our pup.

I am SO happy to have found such an amazing, clean, loving day care facility in San Rafael. I took advantage of their free trial for a half-​day daycare for my handsome Buster, a 3 yr old Maltipoo. He came home and seemed happy. I left him yesterday for a full day from 730am-​6pm as I had a seminar to go to. Upon arriving there in the morning, he could barely contain himself as he rushed to the front door barking in excitement. That told me all I had to know. :-) Chris and Jane, his mother, have created such a lovely and loving environment for us crazy dog people and our pups and I know you will find the same experience as we have. Yay!!!

We discovered Canine & Co. a few weeks ago when our usual kennel was full, and our dog has stayed a couple of times since then. We have NEVER been happier with a boarding situation for our dog. They clearly love animals. They really treat your pet like they are home away from home and give them great care and lots of love, exercise, brushes and attention. Our high energy pup is clearly calm, happy and relaxed when we pick her up, and Chris the owner is amazing about keeping us up to date on what she’s doing and who she’s playing with. This week she needed to see our veterinarian about a tick bite while we were away, and Chris hopped in the car and took her there himself within an hour and totally took care of her. Such a relief. We also love the online reservation and billing system — very easy and convenient. It’s a wee bit out of the way from where we live, but we are willing to drive a few extra minutes to have a place where we know our doggie is so happy!

Our usual boarding kennel was unable to take Roxy over the holidays and recommended Canine & Company. We couldn’t be more happy with their services. They have a great facility, take care to group compatible dogs, and communicate by text.
What was even more endearing was that the owner Chris’ mother recognized that our dog was more people-​social than dog-​social and spent extra time with her in the evenings. They even transported her to our other kennel when Canine & Company was booked up for a reasonable fee.
The ultimate sign if approval was when our dog took a moment to say goodbye to Chris and his Mom before leaving. We will definitely use them again.

Very happy with Chris, his mom, and how they took care of my two dogs during our trip to Tahoe. They are clearly invested in making the dogs (and their owners) happy and comfortable. I’ll be back when I next need to have my dogs boarded.

I’ve used many boarding facilities over the years, but the relatively new Canine and Company is among the best I’ve seen! Chris, the owner, has an amazing rapport with dogs and a keen perception of what each dog needs. He is quite personable with people too and invites questions and conversation. I have total confidence in Chris; I have truly come to trust him. He makes leaving my dogs worry free.
On our first visit I dropped my three corgis off at Canine and Company for a five day hiatus. Mind you, my corgis have been herders and agility dogs and each of the three has their own unique «agenda». Although I was afraid that they might spend the week giving Chris a run for his money, I returned to find Chris completely and comfortably in control of the three dogs. And he had no problem taking the time to discuss with me how the dogs had interacted, feeding time, etc. (He had also taken the time to send me a couple updates during the week via text.) And it was evident that the dogs loved Chris who was the recipient of way too many corgi kisses before we departed. On top of that the three had been bathed — not just wiped down like at other places, and their blankets had been washed and folded all ready to go home. Amazing. Did I mention that this kennel is incredibly clean without that strong disinfectant smell so common in other places.
Chris, has done a tremendous job of customizing the space to allow for personalization of each dog’s stay. Older dogs, or dogs that aren’t particularly playful can feel comfortable and safe in one area while more social and rambunctious canines can play in the spacious and varied activity areas. He often has a few of the older/​quieter dogs hanging out behind the counter in the reception area. He has a small dog area which is where my corgis bunk down. My sometimes stand-​offish male can stay in his kennel, while my two girls can go out into the yard to socialize with the other dogs. Chris wisely designed the space to allow this flexibility but the thing that makes it really work is that he and his assistants personally oversee and orchestrate each dog’s day. I can highly recommend Chris and Canine and Company!

Bravo!!! Finally a place in marin that even a dog walker feels good about taking their pet! This is a top rate family run business that loves dogs! The fees are on point and better than most daycares and the facility is ridiculously clean and spacious. What a great addition to the neighborhood! What I love is when I was sitting in traffic on the bridge stressing to get my dog by 6 I called Chris and he said don’t worry! Just drive safe. Wow!

If I could give C&C six stars I would! And so would my dog! We just moved here from the east coast so I researched most of the dog boarding facilities in the area, and this came up as the best by far.
The personal care and attention my dog is given, all the space to roam around (inside and out) and everything is kept very clean.
I really feel that my dog is safe here and I KNOW that she is happy, the way she pulls to get in there in morning! And when I pick her up I get a «report» from the staff about her day. The staff is the best!
During my «research» I of course took the cost into consideration and C&C is really inexpensive, especially when you consider the care your four-​legged friend gets for the money. And I get peace of mind!
