Bellam Self Storage & Boxes

Weird.
I have used a dozen different storage places over the years. I also made half a dozen calls today to storage places in Marin and Sonoma area.
Everything was going normal in the call until i told him I had two rugs along with the rest of my items. He said to store the rugs here I would have to have them professionally cleaned and wrapped first. The rugs are less than six months old for one, and for two the cost of cleaning /​wrapping them is probably more than what they were new.
I told him that I had never run into a policy like this before, and that was basically that. take it or leave it. Obviously not going to rent a storage unit where I can’t put all of my stuff…
Weird thing is I am pretty sure I rented a unit from this same company a decade ago. Wasn’t their policy then.

Bellam was so helpful and informative! They were able to pick out exactly what we would need for our move and encouraged us to buy less and come back if we needed more boxes while moving. I appreciate that they did not try to oversell us and were very friendly. Their prices are better than Amazon!

Best storage in Marin. Before discovering Bellam Storage about ten years ago I had used other storage lockers that were poorly managed. Andree, Matt and the rest of the team truly care about their customers. Outstanding customer service. Andree helped me tremendously when I downsized from two lockers to one. You will not find a more clean, neat and tidy storage locker in Marin that has the best security including cameras. Check out all the lovely prints on the walls. The place is color coded and enjoyable to visit.

If I could give them zero stars I would. What a scary experience.
I called and spoke to Andree on the phone first to confirm a space was available. Then I went over to see it. My truck would’t fit in the only space that was left but she did contact one of the other renters with a smaller car and get him to swap with me. That was good. OK, one star for that. But as soon as I had walked in the door her hands were all over me. She didn’t ask if she could touch me. It felt kind of strange in the moment, but on reflection, especially with everything that happened, after, it feels really creepy.
We made the arrangements, I gave her my credit card info, she charged the first month, we set a move in date and I thought I had it all dialed in to leave my truck there the night before flying off on a four month travel trip.
The day I was supposed to drop the truck off at 6 in the evening, I called to ask about the possibility of my girlfriend dropping something off in the back seat after I had left. This was about 11am. They didn’t answer the phone so I left a message. I didn’t get a call back until about 4 from one of the employees who said nothing could be left in the truck at all. Nobody had ever mentioned that to me in our previous conversations. I called back and asked to speak with Andree who swore she had told me that not so much as a tissue could be left in the truck. That is simply not true and I said that to her. I have a number of things in the back seat and was planning on leaving them where they were. If anyone had said anything to me about the truck needing to be empty, it would have registered with me. And, especially since I had made the 5 hour round trip drive to my storage unit that very day, I could have thoroughly emptied the truck while I was there. Especially if they had called me back in a timely manner.
Once I informed her that I was certain nobody had mentioned this to me, her tone shifted quickly. She basically refused to rent the space to me, without even giving me the opportunity to empty the truck so I could leave it and get on that plane the next morning. She just said she was going to refund the money I had paid and that was that. Nasty. Needless to say I had to cancel my flight the next day, which will cost me $ 125 to rebook, plus any difference in fare. I didn’t get to my destination on time either and had to spend the next couple of days scrambling for another place to leave the truck.
Bottom line, unless you’re desperate, find someplace else.

Why do they not have their prices listed ANYWHERE on their website? Because they are way over what others charge. Their website SAYS «Best prices» but if you call them up and ask, their charge — over $ 219 for what others charge less than half that — is perhaps all you really need to know.

A top notch storage company. The property and spaces are super clean and easy to be in/​use. Outstanding customer service. I was only in for a few months, and my entry and exit were smooth with no surprises.

I called to get a quote to rent a storage and OMG the lady I spoke to over the phone was rude and unhelpful. She cut met off several times before I finish my sentence. I decided not to rent from them since I can’t imagine dealing with these people in future.

Andree who owns Bellam storage is one incredible woman. Today my husband showed up with a dog crate to shove into our storage unit. Unfortunately, the very large unit had no room because he had made «shoving» items into the unit a common practice. One of the recent additions was a bike which left no room for anything else.
We already had the benefit of Andree’s tremendous organizing talents so he humbly went to her for help. In about 30 minutes, the unit was efficiently organized and she had one of her employees hang a hook for the bike. I no longer feel like I need to supervise his trips to storage feeling secure that Andree is there to oversee him.
Bellam Storage is awesome and Andree rocks!

Moving within itself is always a painful process… but Bellam Self Storage makes it easy and fun! Needing moving supplies for a move, I found Bellam through an advertisement and decided to give them a try.
Not only was their staff extremely knowledgeable about packing and moving but very friendly and helpful. They even talked me out of buying too much and sold me just what I needed.
Matt and Andree also took the time to show me how to pack my fine china and stemware so that nothing would be broke. I appreciated their time and thoughtfulness… not to mention how affordable their prices were.
Three moves later and I still continue to go back to Bellam Self Storage… not only for moving supplies but also mailing supplies.
A great company to work with that truly has your personal belongings best interest in mind!

I’m writing from a retail and moving-​support perspective. I’ve moved twice in the past several months and boxed up a 3 bedroom house that was filled with stuff. Went to various places through the process to buy boxes, tape, bubble wrap etc. Wish I had just gone to them in the first place. When I described my situation they were very knowlegable and gave the perfect advice on what to get to finish packing. They literally wrote a book about packing and moving so they know their stuff. Very friendly and courtious. High
quality products and better prices than office supply stores. And they took it all out to the car for me. I went there again for my second move. Highly recommend going here for your packing and moving supplies.

Had to move boxes and some sports equipment from a large storage building in SF to Marin. I called EVERY storage facility in southern and central Marin. Andree is a dream! She kept me apprised of unit availability as my move date approached and fortunately the exact unit size I needed became available a week before my date. Andree was kind and extremely professional. The day I arrived to move my items I was very very pressed for time because of a last minute business meeting, I was and feeling very overwhelmed. Andree stepped in and took control (which is exactly what I needed). She had one of the young men who worked there unload the van I had rented. She asked me for every item how accessible it needed to be and instructed the helper to make three piles. I was of little help at this point as I had just one hour to complete this task. Andree had the helper stack my unit like a science. It was amazing to see her work. She had my van unloaded and the unit arranged perfectly in 45 minutes. I would not recommend doing this under pressure as I did but I will be a very loyal customer because of Andree’s expertise. The rates are competitive and the building is very clean, secure and a nice, cool temperature. I cannot overstate how helpful she was to me! I highly recommed without reservation!

We recently relocated to Marin and I heard about Bellam through a local Mother’s Group. I had called around to find storage space since we were downsizing significantly and was worried because it seemed like finding a unit was hard to come by. Andree spent the time with me over the phone and I felt as ease once we chatted. We kept in constant contact until she was able to secure a space that worked for us. I really appreciated the fact that she would call with updates and always kept me in the loop. I have never encountered a business that really looks out for their clients.
The day we arrived, Andree met me on the street, ready to help back in the 18 wheeler. She was so kind and I was really impressed with the cleanliness of the entire building. The movers packed everything into our unit with some extra space and she was spot on with the size we needed.
I am very thankful to Andree and I can’t speak more highly of Bellam Storage.

After 8 years away, I moved back to Marin County from the Chicago area. From the first phone call, it was completely apparent customer service is a priority at Bellam as Andree helped me decide what size unit I would need.
Four long days of driving a U-​Haul across i-​80 passed, and moving day had finally arrived. My boyfriend and I were so frazzled from the drive we hadn’t even begun to thought about how we were going to pack a truck full of stuff into a 10′ x 9′ space that looked *way* too small. Andree met us at the gate and helped us back the truck (which we had no business driving) to the back door.
The staff at Bellam not only helped us unpack and carry things upstairs, Andree took charge of our new storage space and helped us find the perfect spot for every single item, from the large furniture items to the small boxes. I realize some people might find that a little off-​putting, but after the week we had, it was just what we needed. Not only were we able to fit everything, we ended up getting our stuff into a smaller unit than we initially thought thanks to her help. This saved us a substantial amount of money month-​to-​month. On top of that, the staff was so quick to help pitch in and lift the heavy stuff, that my boyfriend let out a great sigh of relief because it meant he didn’t have the burden of carrying everything by himself.
The same amount of care given to us when we were moving into our unit was returned when we were moving out. The staff was so quick to help us lift the heavy stuff and Andree again took charge and helped us load everything into our U-​Haul. She even gave us some huge pieces of cardboard to keep our furniture from scratching inside the truck – something I hadn’t even considered (I know, rookie moving mistake).
Physically the place is impeccably clean and the security is amazing. I never once questioned the safety of my stuff. The Bellam staff take «white glove customer service» seriously, and as someone who works full-​time in the customer service field, I feel confident recommending this business to anyone willing to listen. This is how self-​storage should be, and if you live a little farther away, Bellam Self-​Storage is fully worth the trip to San Rafael for the piece of mind.

Bellam Self Storage is far and away the best place I have ever had my stuff stored. Andre’ is a peach. She helped my husband re-​arrange and consolidate 2 units and even helped my daughter and I load our u-​haul to empty a unit. Service like that is not found anywhere these days. I would recommend them for all storage needs. Also they deliver packing material when you are moving. Just a fabulous bunch of folks. Doesn’t get any better than this.

Who could have ever dreamed self storage could be this good! This place is amazing! Green. Clean. Friendly. Helpful. And then there is Andree. She is the hardest working woman in self storage!
I recently relocated to Marin after a divorce and downsizing. Talk about overwhelmed!!! She helped me and gave me so much support. And boy did I ever need it! She held my hand every step of the way.
After the movers packed the space in no particular way that made any sense, Andree helped me re-​organize everything so I could easily access it, use it, purge it, and make sense of it all. What a relief!
This is the way self storage should be. Don’t go anywhere else.

I’m coming up on my 2 year anniversary with Bellam Self Storage in June. In my experience with them, they’ve been consistently reliable and professional. And happily, now I can add «helpful» to that mix. Recently, when I had a need to downsize to a smaller unit, Andre (AKA the storage lady extraordinaire) was on it from the get-​go. I arrived prepared with my work gloves on a Saturday, expecting to spend a few hours there arranging for the new unit, and then schlepping my stuff to the new one, but she had other ideas! She coordinated the transfer, and after input from me on what items were ok to put in back, and what I needed to have accessible in front, she and her warehouseman did it all while I stood by in amazement.
Mind you, I did call ahead a few days, showed up approx when I said I would, and there were not a bunch of others there visiting their units, so maybe it was a slow day… but, I still have a feeling that this scenario is closer to normal rather than not.
Bottomline: Andre and her team get my 5 stars!

I first rented a space with Bellam when I graduated from my undergraduate studies in 1982. At that time, they were one of the most technologically advanced storage facilities available. I had that space for almost 10 years before finally moving my stuff out.
When we needed a place to store infrequently used (but still important) items again, Bellam seemed like the obvious choice.
After a quick discussion with the office, we determined the proper size of space for our needs. The manager even found us a space with two doors so that we could access stuff at the back without having to unpack the entire locker.
I’ve always found the office staff to be courteous and professional. The space itself is clean, secure and well maintained.
I highly recommend them.
