History

Established in 2012.

USCG licensed Captain Drew Testwuide and his furry first mate Niko have been offering unique bay adventures since 2012. Located off the beaten path in San Rafael, Barbary Ghost offers guests access to the North Bay waters that inspired Jack London’s «Tales of the Fish Patrol.» Through a partnership with neighboring business 101 Surf Sports, Barbary Ghost also offers the Bay’s only boat-​assisted stand up paddleboard (SUP) tours, ranging from tranquil flatwater paddles in remote areas to adrenaline-​pumping downwinders.

Meet the Business Owner

Drew T.

Business Owner

Drew Testwuide is the owner and operator of Barbary Ghost. He’s logged over 1,000 hours cruising the San Francisco Bay, Pacific Coast, and California Delta. His enthusiasm for the water is contagious. Prior to owning his own charter vessel, Drew served as a licensed Ski Boat Driver and Wakeboard Instructor. When not on the boat, he can be found SUP surfing, kayaking, fishing, target shooting, and wrestling with his dog Niko. Drew is a USCG licensed Captain and Red Cross certified CPR and First Aid provider.

Drew’s dog Niko is the loyal and trusted First Mate of Barbary Ghost. In addition to greeting guests, his job is to retrieve paddles, lifevests, and other items dropped overboard. He participates in local paddle races as «Navigator» at the front of Drew’s kayak. Niko holds a Canine Good Citizen Certificate from the American Kennel Club.
