Abbey Montessori School

The teachers and staff at Abbey are lovely and the children absolutely adore going to school here, in fact I have seen children not want to go home! The children are particularly fond of teacher Nico because of his infectious enthusiasm and playful, yet focused teaching techniques and attention to the evolution of each student. They have a diverse group of students at different learning levels, each of them receiving hands-​on guidance and encouragement. I have seen firsthand the professionalism and care given at Abbey and would recommend to any parent interested in Montessori structured learning.

Abbey Montessori is a wonderful preschool and childcare center. My daughter has attended for over two years now, starting out in the infant room then moving up to the preschool classroom when she was developmentally ready. Now her baby brother is there as well in the infant room. The facilities are not the newest or shiniest, but the Montessori materials and methods are the real deal. That means that children are free to choose the «work» or «job» that they feel compelled to work on. There are five teachers on staff during the preschool program hours. The required ratios are strictly maintained in both the infant room and preschool. In addition to the Montessori curriculum, there is plenty of outdoor play time in the well-​equipped playground. The one downside is that it is mostly wood chips, so they end up coming home in shoes and pockets quite often. The babies are very well cared for in the infant room. My children have been provided excellent, loving care in the infant room, which is safe and comfortable. We are provided with a detailed report each day from the infant room, which indicates our babies have been on a schedule, always fed and changed on time and given appropriate naps and play time. We couldn’t be happier with the care my children are provided by the caregivers and teachers at Abbey.

We have spent 5 years and had 3 kids at Abbey and couldn’t be more pleased. We’ve been through the daycare/​babies and the preschool programs several times. All my children have excelled and been reading and doing math before kindergarten. They both love to go to school and absolutely adore their teachers! I couldn’t recommend Abbey Montessori more highly.
In response to the previous poster, the facilities are clean, safe, well maintained. They follow the Montessori methods by-​the-​book and get great results. The teachers are fantastic.

Was greeted by Luchi for our tour. We are looking for a preschool for our son. The first thing I noticed was that the interior seemed cold in temperature and somewhat dirty and dingy.
I realize that montessori school have a more unstructured schedule, but this place seemed like a free for all. The kids were all doing their own things alone. There were no cubby holes for the children to put their lunches. Their bags are just lined up in the middle of the room.
When I asked about the child/​teacher ratio Luchi said toddlers had two teachers. I had only seen one in the classroom. When I asked her where the other teacher was, she informed me that she was the other teacher. In my opinion having 2 teachers per class means having two full time teachers. Not one full time and one who does tours, meeting and answers phones while they are supposed to be in charge of young ones.
I opted to not enroll my child in this place.
