Great customer service. The manager was awesome and treated us with kindness. Hard to find customer service as such.

I’d only heard of A & W but never been. I was on my way to get McDonald’s and saw that they had popcorn shrimp(which I love). I came in and ordered it to go. A couple things bothered me about the store. The front of house staff were kinda just hanging around the front, not really doing anything. When I ate the fries they were soggy, but the shrimp were okay.

Bad food. Ate a burger, fries & shake; nauseated the rest of the day. Service was brusque. Good parking. Not worth the money or time.

Pros: Chili-cheese dog. Cheese Curds. Root beer float/freeze. Crispy chicken Sandwich. Very quick drive through and counter. Never super crowded. Better than McDs next door. Soft serve is a fav of my kid. Cons: Not as good as some other chains in Marin. Can be a bit expensive for a fast food place. A bit out of the way.

This is without a doubt the best A&W restaurant I’ve ever visited. The place is spotless and the service is unbelievable. They even asked me if I wanted a free root beer to go as I was making my way out the door. I’m actually floored. I really am.

There is something about an A&W burger and a root beer(or root beer float) that makes it taste better than other fast food places. This location has been around for a long time and it’s a good to when you have that craving. Especially their onion rings; no one makes them like this anymore. Also, you have to love a root beer float in a tall frosted glass. You got to love there Tuesday special: single papa burger, fries, and a drink for $ 3.99. The drive thru seems to always be booming. Inside is clean. Service is friendly. You can tell everything is made fresh.

Overall good experience! I have not seen an A&W in a long time. This location does not have a drive in but inside was clean and Orange and White! Root beer was made in the store and served with the frosty mug! I ordered the Papa Burger and it was very good. Lettuce and fixings were fresh. Burger tasted like my grill from home. Next time I need to get the root beer float. They look yum!

The root beer from tap tastes better than any can or bottle you will find in any store. Some of the food is pretty average but I am a sucker for the cheese curds. Fries are great compared to other fast food places.

I always stop at this A&W on my way back from Wine Country. Its Super Convenient. Tons of Parking and right off the Freeway . Ill roll in and Order a Root Beer Float ., Papa Burger, Coney Cheese Dog, and Onion Rings . They make a Killer Papa Burger Their Dining room is usually pretty clean. They also have a Drive Thru. And if your lucky you’ll run into Cookie aka Christine R munching out there lol.

Made a nostalgic impulse decision to cut off two lanes of traffic to pull off the freeway when I saw this place coming down the 101. I had gone to an A&W often as a kid with my parents to on in the town of Millbrae(or San Bruno) that had a fireplace inside or if you didn’t want to go inside you merely rolled your window half way down, turn on your headlights and somewhat would take your order at the car then return with a tray a food that clinged to your car’s side window. Now, back to the present… None of the above. There’s was a Papa Burger which I remember from my past but I seem to recall a Mama and Baby burger as well, which was no where to be found. My burger, well it was just nasty. It did remind me of my past though. It reminded me of the burgers I had in the school cafeteria. Some gritty patty with a slice of unmelted processed cheese on top. On an up note, the service was fast and friendly. Hence the second star.

Who doesn’t love a classic A&W root beer float? Worry about the calories later. I enjoy coming here with the kids, or when I have those sudden cravings. It’s one of the few places in Marin that stays open late. The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating, especially when I make lunch runs for the office. The lady at the window makes sure she fills it up to the top and places the large plastic lid over the cup to ensure a safe trip back. She’s a pro at this, never has it spilled on my way back to the office with four large root beers in a tray(sometimes more hehe). You always have that one person who’s on a diet, and decides last minute they also want a mucho grande root beer float.

I’m giving a one star for one reason and has nothing to do with the food. That is consistently good. It’s for the bad attitude of the person behind the counter who rang me up. When I asked what the code for access to the A&W WiFi I was told first it must be McDonald’s. I explained no, you have a WiFi and I’d like the code because I need to check some things which requires an internet connection. He made many poor excesses which were so far fetched the it became pathetic. I said that next time I should just go to McDonald’s because they do have access to internet. He said «MAYBE I SHOULDDOTHAT» instead of saying” I’ll try to find out what the code to A&W WiFi is for next time you come back. There is no employee number on receipt or didn’t have name tag or I would include it in my was 20:15 on 2−26−15 So I’ll take his advice and go to McDonald’s and not step foot again in this place unless management pays attention to my Unilocal and makes it right for not me but all its loyal customers. It’s our A&W and I want to continue to give it my business and in turn I get a tasty burger and rootbeer float. Kennymac

You have to get the root beer float! The ice cream is creamy and the root beer taste awesome. Nice and cold and not overly sweet. I always find myself craving this when I past by.

Definitely in need of a face lift, it’s an older restaurant. I was craving a burger and fries one day and A&W came up on my radar. I thought, why not? I haven’t been to one in 10 years! I went inside to check it out. The staff were friendly but I would say the food avg. The best part was my rootbeer was served in a cold mug, it was awesome! I drove a little out of my way to go there, probably wouldn’t again.

mmm… bottomless root beer. and yes it does taste better out of the tap. also nice that they give you a nice heavy frosted mug to drink it out of. but don’t be fooled… this is def still a fast food joint, and not the best maintained one at that. expect to wipe down your own tables and seats with a wad of napkins before sitting down. fries are almost on par with McDonald’s(which is very good) burger is better than Burger King(which is also very good)

A&W is a classic dying breed. I do miss the drive up stands where the girls in hot pants used to hook a tray of your food on your window. I remember my dad passing my «teen burger» to me while he ate the«papa burger» and mom had the«mama burger». It was so cool. Unlike many fast food chains A&W is a throwback and really try and hold on to that retro feeling. Fosters Freeze and Dairy Queen are similar. The only difference compared to these other two is that A&W has a better and more complete menu. This location is right across the highway from the Marin civic center and the McDonalds. The key to A&W is that while they have the drive thru, you need to stay and eat. They do a couple things well and you need to take advantage of it. You can’t get them anywhere else. I come here for 4 things: 1. Corn Dogs, 2. onion rings, 3. cheese curds, and of course, 4. the incredible one of a kind root beer float. The last time I looked, these items were not on the menu at the big 3 competitors. In fact while here, the drive thru line at A&W was much busier than Mickey Ds. Do NoT get the last item to go. You will not be doing it justice! See my photo. Eat in! That thing must be savored and eaten carefully. Nobody likes the root beer float volcanic explosion. Here’s how to eat the float: eat the ice cream first by carefully scraping around the side. Do not dig in or you will activate the carbonation and have a mess! You are basically«thinning out» the ice cream. You can take a few sips as well. once the ice cream is no wider than the brim of the mug, take a few bigger sips until the root beer is only filling half the mug. Now watch!!! The ice cream will start to slowly sink into your now creamy root beer! More exciting than watching the Titanic! The rest of your experience is free form! Enjoy it but don’t get a brain freeze! ps– you can buy your mug for $ 5.

On a hot day, or anytime you want to treat yourself, there are few things better than a frosty mug of root beer or a root beer float. Served in a real, glass mug. Just look at the photos posted!

First time at an A&W yay! Just left the place! Yay! I ordered the BBQ bacon crunch and had some fries and root beer off of friends! Burger was ok can’t really expect much but I finished it! Felt a bit dry and tastes pretty bready. The fries were good though! Hot fresh and crispy! Root beer is the only soda I drink so that I enjoyed! My body hates me right now… oods. feeling that sharp pain in my tummy now…
