History

Established in 2006.

Family owned and oriented business with friendly and knowledgeable staff, from front desk to chief instructor. The only ORIGINAL and GENUINE Brazilian Jiu-​Jitsu School in San Pedro! Established in Apr 2006 by Sensei Pedro Soriano, a Grappling Instructor with 30 years of experience! Yes! Sensei Pedro has been training martial arts since age 3, where he began taking Judo classes and later on at age 15 started his Brazilian Jiu-​Jitsu training. Sensei is Black belt in both Judo (3rd degree) and Brazilian Jiu-​Jitsu — BJJ (1st degree), has extensive experience in coaching and competing. Our School is the home of Self-​Defense and Brazilian Jiu-​Jitsu in San Pedro.

We are also the only School in town to offer a 30 Day F*r*e*e Trial ! Come and check us out! Classes for all ages and genders, no experience required!

I have been training here for the past couple of months and have never regret joining. I have visited many BJJ clubs around the South Bay and Pedro Soriano stood out the most. Not only is Pedro Sensei patient he teaches EVERY class. He is a positive role model not only to the kids but also to adults like myself.
Other members of this club are very friendly and make you feel welcome, unlike other places where you get an intimidating feeling. I was welcomed with smiles and felt like part of the family within a week.
If you are looking for a place just to get in shape, learn self defense, to build up confidence, and to become better in competition, I recommend you come in and try San Pedro BJJ!

Aside from being an excellent teacher who can explain techniques in its finest details, he has a wonderful personality, great with kids, funny at times, and serious when he needs to be. I know him from Gardena Judo Club where he is an active member of our Yudanshakai (Black Belt Organization). I recommended my son to train under Sensei. I train BJJ as much as time allows me, and have had the privilege to compete in a tournament recently with Sensei matside to coach me. He is a master coach and will make you better than you are because part of him is inside you when you compete. The dojo is a close knit community working together to help each other become better martial artists and better people. We are like a family there, and this is what I love most.

This place is great! I love that the classes change every day and that there are still some routines in place as well. I also love the family feel it has. I am always greeted by someone and they are always very professional. Well worth the $$$. Plus, my son is learning self-​defense along w/​getting a great workout. What more can you ask for!

I am so glad I found this place! And traveling to San Pedro twice a week is so worth it. I love the kids Brazilian Jiu-​Jitsu class. I was looking for a place to help my son gain confidence due to recently being bullied. Well I found it! This program has changed my sons life. If you want your child to learn discipline, determination, leadership, responsibility, commitment, & good sportsmanship this is a great place for them. Sensei Pedro is great with the kids! So glad my son is a part of the San Pedro Jiu-​Jitsu family!!!

I have been studying Jiu Jitsu for many years now and I recently joined this new academy. Pedro is excellent at breaking down techniques and his knowledge of jiu jitsu is very deep. I have the opportunity to come to the academy early to watch the kids classes and Pedro is great with the kids. He knows how to keep them engaged and develop their way of thinking.
I chose this Jiu Jitsu academy not only because of the high level of instruction and great group of people. I chose this academy because I see Pedro Soriano happy, loving what he does everyday. The passion he has for Jiu Jitsu and Martial Arts is the same passion I have, and that was important for me to find in my instructor.

I started coming here about 3 months ago. The instructor, Pedro, is fantastic. He knows how to break down techniques into very easy to grasp parts. I now bring my 4 year old son here.
The school is very family oriented. Everyone is friendly and Pedro knows how to deal with kids. He is extremely patient and teaches them not only BJJ but also discipline and listening skills.
If you are looking for a family friendly place to learn Jiu Jitsu than this is definitely the place for you and your children.

Pedro is a warm, caring sensei who takes the time to get to know the individual that he is training. My four year old daughter loves going to the dojo and LOVES Pedro.
She is learning self-​defense, discipline, and respect for others in a loving, encouraging environment. Pedro succeeds in creating a family environment that is very welcoming to all skills and ages. It was very disappointing to find out that this instructor disciplined my five year old son in a matter that to me is very inappropriate.
No instructor should ever have the right to shout loudly in a child’s face or have the right to pick them up by the chest collar only to raise the child to their eye level — and shake them to understand what they did in class was wrong. To some parents this is a form of discipline but to me its a form of abuse. I decided to take my son out of this class after seeing how it affected my son.
For the record I never came to this place of business to ask for help with my sons discipline… I came here because I wanted my autistic son to know the art of self defense. I will never send my son here again.
