Mitch and his wife, Julieanne, have been residents of San Pedro for over twenty years.

Plaza Automotive Center was the PVP Chamber of Commerce 2012 Excellence in Business Award recipient, 2012 San Pedro Business of the Year, the 2009 San Pedro Rotary Business of the Year and won the 2010 YWCA Golden Circle Award .

Owner Mitch Harmatz and Plaza Automotive Center have been honored for their San Pedro auto repair expertise, customer service, and community involvement by many organizations, and continue to donate time and money to numerous local associations including:

I used to have a lemon, and every time I brought it in I was treated amazing. I just recently went in for a routine oil change on my new car and once again, Mitch remembered who I was, and I wasn’t cheated with some outrageous price and my car was washed and ready with in an hour. There are so many automotive shops nowadays that gouge you in prices and never fix the problem. This place goes out of their way to make sure the customer and the car are satisfied!

My hybrid battery needed to be replaced and the dealer was charging $ 6K just to replaced it not including the labor. I was skeptical when I saw Plaza Automotive Center ads but I gave them a call. A few days later I decided to give it a try. I couldn’t believed the service and treatment that Mitch and his staff provided. They are way friendly and very helpful. From the moment I walked it to their establishment, they already have the loaner car ready even before I got the paperwork signed. My car was fix the same day and it cost me half of what the dealer would have charged me. A few days later, I even got a follow-​up from their office to make sure my car is running great! Really excellent service and affordable too! Prius and other hybrid car owners-​see Mitch and he will help you!

Probably the worst experience ive had with a automotive mechanic shop yet. I brought in my car to get checked and see what was wrong with it. The price agreed on was $ 75. 2 days later i get a call telling me that they couldnt find the problem but since they spent time looking for it that the price is now around $ 300. All i got was a list of things that were working on my car and not the problem itself. I was paying for them to tell me what the problem was with my car, they did not find it, and yet charged me more than 3 times the initial price? When i refused to pay the insane amount, i was threatened that they would dispose of my car if i didnt pay. Would definately NOT EVER bring my car back nor recomend this place to anyone. There are better shops out there with more respectable and honest mechanics. If i could give this place negative stars, i would.

These guys are awesome. They have your complete auto info online so you know when you had all your maintenance. They wash your car when you have work done, give you a nice trash bag in the car and put a keychain with a light on it on your keys when you pick it up. The price was reasonable and the guy who works there (the owner I am assuming) tries to remember your name and really wants your business. I almost feel like Marty mcfly in back to the future when he pulls up to a 50s full service gas station!

I thought A Full service gas station is unheard of in this day and age??? But I was wrong! It reminds me of the 50’s and I’m not that old! They have Fast & Friendly service! They have a mechanic who knows what he’s doing the right way! Mitch, the owner is there to greet you! Plus they have a loaner car if the job is a little bigger than an oil change! And they have good prices too! The best part is, when you get your vehicle back, you know it’s been done RIGHT!

Once again I recently experienced great service at «plaza automotive center» at Park Plaza shell. My service included an oil change and new tires that were little lower in price then american tire compAny.

Dropped my truck off at lunch and got a loaner car with no «qualifier» or questions asked. Tires were installed same day, even though I couldn’t pick up same day I received a text saying it was ready to pickup in the morning. Thanks Mitch and the whole crew!!! Picked up from Ebony this morning and she is always friendly and has great customer service!

Mitch & crew are tops in my book. Not only did they get my Mercedes back in shape after a hard year of driving (75K mi) they set up a complete schedule of future work to be done. They also completed this first round of work 15% below original estimate and gave me a free loaner!

I got a loaner car free! I got two follow up calls! I wanted an oil change and what I got was a much need belt change that would have cost me loss of power steering, air conditioning and more, my interior air filter had not been changed in way too many years and this got done. No more occasional odd smells. To top things off they washed my car. Shop local with family owned locals. Shop and get service with Mitch who supports education and family service organizations. Chain companies can’t compare! Ask to see and talk to Mitch, and find out what is really happening in Pedro town! Go Plazza Automotive, go Pedro! Stephen Modiano

What can i say, they claim to be nice but they are the opposite went there for propane many times they made it very clear why am i taking their time to do that that they also charge 20% than other places like Torrance. Just be aware before you ask they may be give you a look!!!

These folks are good people. They were generous enough to donate two certificates (worth $ 200+ each) for full oil change, inspection, and servicing for a fundraising auction to help a local community member raise money for a much-​needed kidney transplant. Already, that gives them a huge plus in my book! From what I understand, they do other volunteering and community giving.
We won the auctioned certificates and went there to use them. They were wonderful. They changed the oil, did a very thorough 40-​point inspection, and talked us through what needed repair. They gave us a printout that showed each part of the car inspected, its condition (good, watch, or needs repair), and detailed descriptions of what if anything needed repair. Danial assisted us and was decent, honest, and informative.
They called the next day to check on how the car was doing, and sent a postcard as well. This is a business we will proud to support.

We’ve had terrible experiences with this automotive service. They installed the wrong parts for our vehicles twice in the last year. Our regular mechanic was aghast when he saw the invoice, which charged 3 x typical prices, and the ill-​fitting parts forced into place. We brought up the mistakes and exorbitant charges to Plaza Automotive and were offered a 25 buck gift card for service we would never use.

YES the gas is priced a few cents higher than most gas stations… but keep in mind it’s quality gas and it’s a full service gas station. They do everything from transmissions, brakes, diagnostics, car washes and yes «plaza automotive sells tires». LOL!!! If they need to service your car they will give you a loner car FREE. Every now and then Mitch has a customer appreciation day where he has free food and music. He has a great staff but his best employee is Ebony. She is very helpful, attentive and you can tell she really enjoys her job.

I cant believe they are charging $ 4.33 for regular gas when I just paid $ 3.74 at chevron. What a rip off! Please dont go here to fill up, save your money and dont get taken advantage of!

When my transmission blew, I brought it here on a tow truck. They said it would cost $ 5500 to fix. I said see ya, then had my Merc towed to Johann’s Independent in LA. It cost me $ 2800. Park Plaza shell also charged me $ 129 for their diagnosis — «Your transmission is broken, we need to replace it». No sh*t, I knew it was broken, but how about shedding some light on the matter. Mike at Johann’s blows doors on this shady outfit.
