Malaga Bank

Me and my finance just love this bank everyone there is so very friendly and we are so happy to have joined into such a nice bank!!! Thank you to all staff for your warm welcome and pretty smiling faces keep up the great work!!!

We’re very happy with both the Toa. and Pedro branches.
They’ve been very helpful and efficient.
PS: and LOVE the décor and landscaping, too…

My poor mother had a stroke, and I have been trying to close out her checking account that has about $ 2,000. Malaga bank is making me jump through hoops. Any other institution has been more than helpful when i bring them the living trust, power of attorney in my name, and doctor’s note stating my mom is unable to do her own banking. So i get a 2^nd doctors note, and they say it isnt good enough because the doctor put white out on it. Then they say oh, too bad we dont do electronic onn-​line banking, or you could pull it out that way. Ivette has tried her best to help me, but is obviously inadequate. Seems they arent converned about helping there customers, only about making sure their customer’s money is tied up in their bank. You stink!

I went in today and the teller was in a bad mood. She did not give good service. When you deal with people you need to leave the personal stuff outside and have a smile on your face.

This is the way banks used to be ! They may have several local branches but still are small and personal enough to know your name and give you excellent service. Their rates and charges seem comparable to other banks, yet they manage to offer services like a real community bank:
Enough employees to avoid long waiting in lines
They get to know you (and don’t have to see your ID every visit)
There’s always coffee available, and on special occasions a sample of pie or pastry
They provide their customers with easy access to well kept bathrooms
Complementary community Newspapers and Magazines
They’re not too busy to take time to explain things and chat with you.
They’re open until 5pm on weekdays, 6pm on Friday and 1:30 on Saturday
Easy parking in the «Vons» lot.
And, yes, they do have online banking, electronic check deposit, bill payment services, and accounts for business owners too. Way to go, Malaga !!

I have been with the San Pedro branch since they opened. It is always a pleasure to walk through the door. Always friendly, smiling, and the coffee is wonderful.
They are also very professional and helpful. I am glad for the policies they have in place, because they are protecting me he customer as well as themselves.
In the past I worked in the banking industry, and it is easy to get lost in a huge mega bank, Malaga really makes you feel special.

I love the fact that every time I walk into the branch there is no waiting in long lines. I appreciate the «community» feel for this bank and the low or no service fees associated with checking accounts unlike the bigger banks.

Always someone to greet you when you walk in, there is rarely a wait for help, free coffee, free notary for customers, what more could I ask for from a bank?

I wish I could say I love Malaga Bank, and there are some things about it I do like. It is small, so they know your name. The tellers and employees are friendly.
Down side? It is a small bank, therefore some VERY annoying things can happen. Example: This morning I paid a pretty large traffic ticket (thanks Babe) with my debit card, and a couple of other small purchases with my debit card. So this evening I went to In-​N-​Out with my kids and the lady kept telling me my card was being declined. I asked her to try three times, because I knew there was more than enough money in my account to cover the $ 28 charge. Finally I had to leave with no food. I immediately called the number on the back of my card furious! The manager proceeded to tell me that even though I had enough money in my account, because of the purchases I had made earlier in the day I had reached my daily maximum therefore the transaction was being denied!!! WHAT? I asked her if I could charge the bank a fee for denying me the use of MY money (because if it were the other way around you know I would have been charged a fee) at this point I was hung up on.
Bottom line, if you can’t have access to your own money it is just not worth it. First thing in the morning I am going to go and close all of my account with Malaga.
Update: we gave them one more try… Big mistake. It is just to difficult to access your own money at this bank… We just opened a Chase account this morning and will be switching ALL of our accounts there.

Great bank! All of the staff is extremely friendly! Because they are a small bank they can give individual attention to their clients!
It was easy to open an account, their fees are low and/​or non existant. Every time I come in they are welcoming, and answer all my questions no matter how small or stupid it may be. There is hardly ever a line, and if they do get busy they have ample tellers to meet everyone’s needs!
My whole family uses this bank and now my husband and I opened a joint account! I would trust them for all of my financial needs!

Went in to get change for a hundred, was rudely informed «no banks exchange currency unless you have an account with them, theres no way to tell if its counterfeit» really? Why would I trust a bank who can’t decifer fake from real money? Isn’t that what you do, specialize in money. If you want a bunch of rude old maids that are a bunch of pessimists than this is the bank for you. They will not get a new customer in me.
