Los Angeles Yacht Charters

Do not use this boat for charters for more than 6 passengers. It is not a USCG inspected yacht and does not have the proper safety equipment. The USCG is looking to stop all operations on this boat.

Calling for reservations: 4.5 stars
They had pretty flexible hours so I was able to get a hold of them after work also, which was great. I asked about the pricing for the navigator yacht rental, as we wanted to go to Catalina Island. The man who helped me was very helpful and answered each one of my 6 492 939 questions without getting annoyed. We were renting the yacht for a full day which is 8 hours for them. He told me it would take about 2 hours to go to Catalina and 2 hours back so we would have anywhere from 3 – 4 hours. Obviously three hours isn’t enough and we would prefer four so he told me that he would guarantee us 4 hours on the island no matter how long it took to get there and come back. This was a great deal so I agreed to it. Gave him all the information and everything went smoothly.
The yacht itself: 2.5 stars
When we walked in the yacht was pretty dirty. The trash from the night before was still there (my dad told the crew member to throw it out as we would have trash too) so the crew member apologized and explained how they had a few guys over the night before and how they drank so much as he was taking out the trash. As I went to explore the yacht I noticed that the bed in one of the rooms wasn’t even cleaned up. I walked into the bathroom and noticed a red beer pong cup near the sink. But I didn’t make a big deal about it cause there’s Unilocal for that loll… Oh and as far as the bathrooms go, we didn’t smell anything like other Unilocalers complained about. So I’m glad that that was sort of clean.
The crew members: 4.0 stars
The captain was a man of older age. I didn’t get to talk to him much but he was pretty nice.
The guy who helped the captain was younger and kept smoking his vape or e-​cigar like thing. Which I don’t care but it just puts the quality of the service down.
The ride there: 3.0 stars
Who knew the boat motion would get to me that bad?!! Yeaa it was a pretty rough ride. Especially coming back… We kept rocking side to side– to the point where the trash can which was about three feet tall and was full fell down three times! We couldn’t stand at all loll. But the crew did have some motion sickness pills which was nice of them to offer.
PS It DID NOT take us only 2 hours to get there. It actually took us around 3 hours if not more. So I was glad that they gave me 4 hours on the island regardless of the time it took to get there.
Other things: 3.0 stars
The crew also tried to get us to pay for the mooring fee but I explained that we had asked if there were any additional fees and they had told me that there wasn’t. So we ended up not paying for it.
They also told us in the beginning that we would have only 2 hours on the island as it takes 3 hours to go and 3 hours to come back. Which I told them that they had promised me 4 hours regardless of the time it takes to go there and come back. Thank God we had made this deal!
Average 3.4 stars so I’m going to round to 3.0 stars.

My review is only for their customer service as I have not chartered a boat here. I called to discuss an upcoming trip and the gentleman I spoke with let me know they don’t do bareboat trips, only captained ones, but was kind enough to let me know of a couple places he would recommend with similar boats. Ordinary I wouldn’t review without actually having the service, but I just wanted to add my experience since someone else commented on their bad experience over the phone.

Called to inquire about a renting a yacht for a private party of 250. Whoever answered the phone was wildly unhelpful and super impatient. Instead of giving me information, he just kept referring me to the website which really isn’t that easy to navigate.
No thanks, I’ll take my business elsewhere.

I rented The Lady M for a great 40^th celebration and we had a blast the crew made us feel at home, we also took a 2 hour cruise and it went by so fast but boat the captain and crew was amazing.
Looking forward to doing it again… We took our own food and drinks and even stayed on board the night! So much fun !

Booked a charter/​room for the night over the weekend for a birthday celebration. Captain Geoff was a pleasure to work with and made our stay so special. We had a BBQ and were able to bring our own drinks and food at no additional charge. we went to a few swim spots and played our music while enjoying the sun and wind. As for staying the night everything went great and you cant beat the view. Everyone had such a good time we will definitely do it again!

I was hired as a captain for a one time charter. I fulfilled all the tasks that were asked of me and the clients had a great time that was «the highlight of their trip to Los Angeles».
Two months later after leaving several emails and voice mails I still have not received payment.
You may get lucky booking a charter with L.A. Yacht Charters, or you may get screwed like I did.
