Specialties

We’re a new after school program that teaches kids 8 and up how to code. At theCoderSchool, we want to do more than just teach coding. We want to use learning to code as a stepping stone to learning to think like a coder. Coding uses skills like thinking logically, breaking complex problems into manageable chunks, and working on a team towards an end goal. Our physical space and our programs are both designed to help kids learn these skills and more — skills that are valuable in any future career.

I highly recommend! Do not hesitate to send your child to the San Mateo Coder School for Code Coaching or Summer Camp. My 10 year old son started with attending a Summer Camp and absolutely loved it. We then enrolled him in Code Coaching semi-​private and private lessons and its his most favorite activity. He always looks forward to his lessons. My 6 year old daughter has also started lessons. They both literally run in and are excited to learn more skills. The Coder School has an excellent program to teach coding to children in a fun, supportive environment. The General Manager, Nathanael has a great staff who are well-​trained and know how to work with children. This location is well-​maintained, clean and well organized and easy to schedule with.

Can’t tell you how long I waited for such a great coding program/​school to open up for the kiddos. I tried on-​line learning, books, my own teaching and even hired someone through a freelance website. Then I was headed to Safeway and saw their sign and sighed a sigh of relief. Finally!
Signed the little people up for weekly coding sessions and couldn’t be happier. The youngsters are now learning Python, CSS etc. Whatever I want or they want.
My oldest one has already surpassed my coding ability. So I know they are in good hands.
Teachers have been enthusiastic and communicative.
Facility is spotless and loaded with fun e-​toys.
Music is cool.
Front desk is always nice
They always respond to emails
They always call you back.
Price is fair.

The crew at the San Mateo location are amazing. They gave me a full refund for a camp we couldn’t attend at the last minute, accommodated our changing schedule, and even offered a free camp session to make up for classes we paid for but couldn’t attend. Plus, my son is *actually* learning to code.
A lot of businesses and organizations catering to kids interests are just out to make money — they play on parents’ fears of failure and frequently provide little more than incremental help.
The CoderSchool delivers real value, and they communicate, and they accommodate. Wow.
