Specialties

Stanbridge Academy is a K-12 independent school in San Mateo that provides an academic and social curriculum for students with mild-to-moderate learning differences.

Stanbridge provides a supportive community and a structured environment that fosters academic and social growth through standards-based curriculum, experiential learning and social pragmatics.

Stanbridge Academy is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

History

Established in 1982.

Stanbridge Academy was founded in 1982 by Andi Jobe, a mother of children with learning differences. Since then Stanbridge has welcomed students with mild-to-moderate learning differences who were not experiencing success in traditional school settings.

Highlights of Stanbridge include small class sizes (8:1 max student-to-teacher ratio); a robust experiential program; access to assistive technology for all students; art, music, sports and P.E. programs; and post-secondary transition assistance. In 1998, Stanbridge received its first accreditation by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, which it continues to maintain.

Located in San Mateo, blocks away from the San Mateo Caltrain depot, Stanbridge welcomes families from all parts of the Bay Area, and we now offer daily shuttle van service to students who live in San Francisco.
