Rick R.

Manager

As a 25-​year resident of San Mateo County, Rick joined the staff of Sneider & Sullivan & O’Connell’s Funeral Home in 2003. As a Funeral Director with over 28 years of experience, he helped establish the firm’s reputation as the premier mortuary in the area.

After graduating with honors from San Francisco College of Mortuary Science, he obtained his licenses and worked for several mortuaries and cemeteries throughout the greater Bay Area before settling as manager and director of Sneider & Sullivan & O’Connell’s.

As a longtime member of the San Mateo Elk’s Lodge, St. Gregory Church and Men’s Club, Rick feels strong ties and connections with his community and states, «Providing services to members of this community during their moments of need has enriched my life with a sense of gratification and gratitude.»

We gathered for Yu-go’s youngest sister’s «Celebration of Life.» Parking is limited. Chapel is warm and non-​denominational. Moment never to forget.

I never thought I would write a review on a Funeral Home but I feel compelled to do so because the staff here is great. My son died tragically and my wife and I were in no shape to plan the details of his funeral as we were both devastated and grieving. Joan was the person we first met with. She was as compassionate and as caring as anyone we’d ever met and walked us through the whole process, while being considerate of costs. We had a wonderful service for our son with her help. She guided us to an exceptional Christian minister who met with us and gave a beautiful and very personal eulogy of our son. Rick, the director of the home was equally amazing. They helped make our tragic and heartbreaking loss less difficult and were instrumental in helping us to send off our son with an honorable and memorable service. We were fortunate to have Rick, Joan, and Lisa helping us. There was also a gentlemen at the memorial service who also was fantastic, but I can’t remember his name. My apologies. The Chapel is very nice and quite large to hold many guests.

My family used Sneider, Sullivan & O’Connell to assist us with arrangements for my sister who passed away in Roseville. We worked with Rick Riffle and he did a tremendous job and I would highly recommend this funeral home’s services.
Ours was a Jewish service and Rick was fluent in the customs and helped us every step of the way with each detail. My family was very pleased with every interaction with Rick and how everything turned out.

I hope this review helps anyone who ever has to plan a service. My father passed away quite suddenly in October 2011 and my mother was in no condition to plan arrangements.
Rick Riffle of Sneider, Sullivan & O’Connell’s was a complete professional. He explained the entire process with my family and took care of all details for my father. I was impressed by his compassion and his understanding of our cultural customs. I also appreciated how he didn’t try to upsell or push extra services on us — he made a very difficult and emotional process very simple and clear.

I agree with Helen M. I would give Schneider & Sullivan ten stars as well. They did a wonderful job on my Mom’s funeral in January.
Rick helped me with my Mom’s funeral plans before she passed. He gave me information to take home and share with my Mom. He also walked me through the process so I was prepared.
On the day of my Mom’s passing Rick stayed late so I could finalize the funeral plans with my sister who is also ill and started chemo the next day. I knew that my sister would not be able to help with the planning if we did not do it that evening and this was important to her.
The entire staff was so wonderful. They helped is was every detail from a wonderful florist referral to helping us with the obituary among other things.
I can not thank Schneider & Sullivan enough. My Mom had the most beautiful funeral. I know she is happy.
I will refer Schneider & Sullivan to everyone.

I had used Sneider and Sullivan two times in the past (2005, 2000) and had been very happy with their service before and expected the same. This time however, I felt their service was lacking. I felt «passed» around from person to person in making the arrangements. Then, when I received a call that the ashes were ready to be picked up, I went down there the next day to find them closed (Saturday) and to find out from the answering service that you need to make an appointment (would have been helpful to know that when they told me the ashes were ready). I then made an appt to pick them up on Sunday and came home with the ashes and they were not in the right urn, which means another trip down there. I know the business has merged since I last used them and I am very disappointed this time in the service I received. During this difficult time, you need things to go smoothly.

I would give Sneider, Sullivan, & O’Connell’s ten stars if i could. They did an awesome awesome job on my father’s funeral yesterday.
Rick Riffle made everything so easy for me by the way he respectfully and skillfully took care of every single detail as he gently guided our family through the entire day. Every detail that Rick and I planned were with my dad in mind and were what dad would have wanted had he been there to speak for himself.
i can’t thank Rick and Sneider, Sullivan & O’Connell’s enough for making the day go so perfect and effortlessly for me. i know my beloved father was pleased with the way he was honored, and i have wonderful memories to treasure for the rest of my life.

Writing a review on a funeral home is something I did not expect, but I felt in these moments in life you need a good resource for such an occasion. Schneider & Sullivan funeral home did a fantastic job managing the process and made my mom’s memorial easy to plan and handle without having to worry about the small details.
