Description

Specialties

Ergonomics, Ergonomic Education, Assessments and Evaluations, Lectures, Seminars

From the individual to an entire company, I work with my clients to come up with the program they need that makes sense professionally, ergonomically, and monetarily.

Any recommendations I make are based on over a dozen years of personal experience in the field. If needed, I recommend product and have vendors I work with to get the right product at the right price for you.

History

Established in 1998.

In 1998 I began working at Pixar Animation Studios as their Ergonomic Program Coordinator and Ergonomic Evaluator. I worked with over 800 employees to find the ergonomic plan that worked for each of them individually. I started independent contracting to help all the referrals that came my way via employees who left and went to other companies (DNA, ILM, Hensen, WETA, Rhythm and Hues, etc) and their friends who were in need of ergonomic assistance but didn’t know where to find it. By 2004 I was doing a lot of freelancing work and saw an opportunity to run my own business. I left Pixar where I had worked for 6 years, and moved to the Peninsula where I could ergonomize a similar quality of people… at places like Yahoo!, Mozilla, DNA (Texas — Makers of Jimmy Neutron) and many more.

Meet the Business Owner

Shelby C.

Business Owner

I am a Certified Associate Ergonomist with over 16 years of experience in the field of ergonomics. I started at Pixar Animation Studios where I worked with upper management and HR to create a proactive in-house ergonomics program. After 6 years there I moved to the peninsula and went out on my own as an Independent Ergonomic Consultant/Contractor/Evaluator/Lecturer. I have been working 2 days a week in-house at Yahoo! For the Signore Ergonomics Group for 6 years, and have my own clients covering the Bay Area. Some of my clients include Mozilla, Trion Worlds, Woodruff Sawyer, Hoge Fenton, Magellan, and many individual clients involved in the computer animation and gaming industries.

I focus on training, habits and technique with great emphasis on knowing why certain product should be applied before introducing it to a workstation. I believe education is the number one defense against repetitive strain injuries at the computer.
