Shamrock Day Spa

I went to Shamrock with my sister and we both bought the 100 minute swedish massage with salt scrub and hot stones. The spa is clean and the bath robes very soft & comfortable. My sister had Zoe and was satisfied with her massage experience.
When the receptionist walked me to the massage room, she informed me that my masseuse would be 15 minutes late. She was finishing up with another client who requested more time. It was not a good start to my experience given we made the appointments 3 weeks ago so the spa knew we would be there at the scheduled time.
Instead of waiting 15 minutes, I actually was left waiting in the room for 45 minutes! At this point, I walked downstairs and asked where the masseuse was. The receptionist was gone and the masseuse speaking very limited English said «I’ll be there.» During the entire massage, I felt like she was rushing the whole time and felt my knots were not properly worked out. Completely dissatisfied by the entire experience, I only stayed because my sister was with me.

So I’ve been to many different day spas to relax and get away from all the hectic problems and I was not disappointed. I got just the basic Swedish massage to try it out and I was very relaxed and the lady was very nice and proffesional. I can’t wait to go back to shamrock its the best!

Was passing through San Mateo and was in need of a massage. Did a quick scan of Unilocal and discovered Shamrock Day Spa. Stopped in and asked for a one hour deep tissue massage. I was taken to a room, then went to take a quick rinse. Masseuse assigned was Amy. It turns out she was new to Shamrock. She confirmed that I wanted deep tissue and I mentioned that my neck and low back were giving me trouble. She worked me over really well, giving both my neck and low back some extra time. She certainly knew what she was doing. After finishing up I gave her a good tip (~30%). Thanks to Unilocal for guiding me here. And thanks to Amy for taking good care of my aching neck and low back!

This place kicks ass! Best massage for the best price! I love Jenny and Betty — so very sweet and excellent at what they do!

But the front desk person cheated me — clearly said it was $ 55 for a 70 min massage and they charged me $ 65 for massage that was barely 55 min… When I called back they argued that I told them to charge 65 $ even though I paid cash as a tip to my therapist. I don’t like when you CANNOT trust a business to have proper payment methods… Ughhhh

Have been here about three times now and have been happy each time. The hot stones massage is really relaxing and I feel de-​stressed after I am done. The only issue is the phone which rings really loudly at the reception and if they dont have someone to pick up, it just keeps ringing. But I will continue to return to shamrock for the hot stones massage.

What a gem! After trying most of the massage places in San Mateo and Burligame (from cheap Asian foot massage joints to Burlingame spas), I am ecstatic to have finally found a place to return.
Don’t let the view from the street fool you — this is a warm, lovely, delightful massage facility! The inside is homey, the massage tables themselves clean and comfy, and the massage itself is FANTASTIC. The therapists at Shamrock are truly skilled. If you like shiatsu or deep tissue massage, I highly recommend this spot.
The prices are also incredibly reasonable — you definitely get amazing value for your money here!

In San Francisco for the night for a wedding reception. I flew in early and had many hours to kill before checking into my hotel room. Decided to try this gem since there were many good reviews and prices were decent.
First off, there is street parking, and the lovely lady who helped me upon entering gave me change for the parking meter. First thumbs up!
I asked for the massage that had everything (approx. $ 120), and she told me the $ 90 was practically the same thing. Sold!
Upon beginning, she could tell I was super tight, but worked all of my knots out. The hot stone part of the massaged was AMA-​zing! Some were a little hot, but the slight sting felt really good. I also had the salt scrub but I could have done without that. She did the salt scrub on my back, legs, arms, etc. but I felt it was more rough than relaxing. When she asked if I wanted salt scrub on my front, I passed.
The 90 minutes went by too quickly! This was the best decision on a whim that I’ve made in a while. I would definitely recommend this to any one who lives in the area, and would come back here myself on a future trip!

Price is quite fair, Service is really good! my girlfriend and I love coming to this place!

Best massage ever from Betty! I fell asleep on the table — something that’s never happened to me. She’s amazing. My back feels un-​knotted and healthy after she worked on it. The hot stones were the perfect temperature and her foot+head massages are fabulous.
My facial from Anne was great as well. I’m happy to have found this place — thanks Groupon!

The place gave me the best massage ive ever had. Totally relaxing I fell sleep! !!! OMG this place is bomb

Decent massage. Good price. Clean environment. The big problem is the phone rings a lot and it’s really loud. You also end up hearing the message the person is leaving. This does not make for a peaceful experience. I’d go back if this was fixed.

I came here a few weeks ago when I had a Monday morning free.
I tried the 2-​hour special, which included a 1-​hour massage and 1-​hour facial, for $ 90.
That was great!
The massage was great. Very good pressure and consistent through the whole session. She checked in with me many times to make sure everything was ok.
After that I just stayed on the table and Ying came in to continue with a facial for me.
Facials always feel great, and I fell asleep for part of the session.
I did notice the extractions happening (the part about facials I’m not crazy about), but the rest of it was very soothing. Ying is also the owner of the spa so she takes great pride in the place, and does many facials and massages herself too.
I also got a quick tour of the spa which is really clean and pretty. There is also an upstairs section with a few massage rooms up there as well as a couples massage room (although narrow) if you want to bring a partner to enjoy a massage together.
Metered street parking is available, although with a 2-​hour limit right in front. Around the corner on Ellsworth Ave is 4-​hour metered street parking where I parked. I think the meter I used was broken perhaps. After putting in 4 quarters for 2 hours, the additional coins I put in seemed to give me only half the value in time, so only 2.5 hours total given to me.
But the spa is very nice and a great place for massages and facials, with a great deal for the combo!

Had a facial and a massage here the other day. Both were great! The place was clean and the service was excellent. Will definitely come back again!

Came here yesterday for my first ever facial! I was terrified it would hurt since I’ve heard all these nightmare stories about extractions and I have extremely sensitive skin. My face was steamed, cleaned, exfoliated, extracted, masked, and god knows what else! I had so many things done to my face in that hour! The esthetician mentioned these hard bumps I have near my eyes and nose and I mentioned that I’ve had them forever. Sometimes I take a needle and extract them myself (ouch!) so she decided to try. She tried extracting three of them but said nothing was coming out and I told her it was fine. I had tried extracting the smaller ones on my face before too and nothing has come out before either so not sure what is plaguing my face. Would love some insight if someone knows what I’m talking about!
Day two and my skin is looking great! I partly expected to wake up with my face completely broken out! I really liked the ultrasound machine she used to apply the collagen on my face. She squeezed both of my cheeks and I really felt a difference!
I also got a much needed massage. I have no idea why but my back is forever in knots. The massuse commented on how tight by neck was and worked it out extra hard. I got the hot stone treatment for the first time and boy was it hot! Took a second to get used to before I was able to relax and let it do its magic. The massuse was very friendly and spoke perfect English for people who are commenting that the employees here can’t speak English.
The place is super clean and peaceful. They provide robes, slippers, and even a shower if you want one! They have a great deal going on right now and always have specials in store as well. Plenty of street parking and since its San Mateo, its 30 minutes for a quarter!

Shamrock Day Spa gets 5 Stars from Me!
After hitting and missing with countless day spas throughout San Mateo County I thought I’d try my luck on Black Friday and hit Shamrock Day Spa. I called around 10:30am to see if I could schedule an appointment for 1pm which they were happy to accommodate. When I arrived I was greeted by Ann, who in turn was the massage therapist that gave me my massage. I asked on the phone for a Swedish massage as I was scarred by previous encounters at other locations and she remembered immediately. She asked me if I needed more or less pressure but the amount of time she spent on every limb and pressure received was perfect. She was very sweet and friendly and I will definitely ask for her upon my next visit.
Clean atmosphere, pleasant décor, dimly lit rooms with soothing music. inviting staff and reasonable prices. I will be back soon, Shamrock!

I can honestly say this was the best massage I can remember having… and that says a lot.
I’ve had massages around the world and used to go for a massage once a month when I was in my late 20s, I’ve had expensive & inexpensive massages, short & long massages, Swedish & Thai massages… you name it.
After having a monthly company-​sponsored 15 minute upper-​body rub-​down (it’s not even close to a true massage), I was itching for a true massage and grabbed a Unilocal deal for Shamrock to have a 100-​minute Swedish+Hot Stone+Salt Scrub package and it was delectable! Betty was my masseuse; she used the perfect amount of pressure for me (I like medium/​hard), focused on all of the right areas, devoted plenty of time to everywhere, asked the right questions, you name it.
The best part was, she did not skimp on the head massage or any of the other areas that you wish would never end. I could have done the head massage forever, or so I’d like to believe. However, most people usually spend 3 – 5 minutes on the head, on and off and leave you begging for more. However, Betty gave me the most fantastic 5 – 10 minute head massage (it was plenty of time, even though yes, I could have kept going) but the fact of the matter was, it truly hit the right spots and «cleared my mind» as she said it had!
The best praise I can give is that I’ll be back. Every 2 weeks now, I’m going to shoot for. This is my new go-​to massage space.

It was my first time here. I came in for a facial. The facial was amazing & relaxing, it was different but a good different. For the price of the facial and what you get in that hour is totally worth it. I recommend Ann for a facial and massage.

FINALLY found a place that knows what they’re doing! Probably the best massage I’ve ever had in the states. Will be back with my mom :)

What a horrible massage I had! The following day I had bruises in my lower back and the whole experience was everything but relaxing. The masseuse even picked her phone up in the middle of it…
The 1 star is for the facial, which was decent except for the part where lotion went in my eye and started burning.
I used a groupon so I don’t feel like it was a complete rip off but I’m not going back for sure.
