Reach and Teach

This is an awesome toy/​book shop with a great selection of fair trade/​organic and handmade toys. I was looking for a gift for my son and found the perfect little instrument. The owner was very helpful and offered me tea and chocolate. Great vibe and will def be back when I need to buy a gift.

Reach and Teach is an absolutely lovely experience. The book and toy selections are thoughtful and of the highest quality. I appreciated the personalized care and attention of the owners, down to the complimentary water, tea and chocolate offered on arrival. A truly inclusive and loving space. My visit there was the highlight of the weekend.

One of the best additions to 25^th Ave! They have tons of cool projects for kids as well as a HUGE selection of books and a lot more! The staff is amazing and they always have a smile on their face! It’s always a pleasure visiting reach and teach!

I’m keeping this review short because I was only here for 10 minutes, but it is definitely an interesting place and I will come back some other time.

Reach & Teach is more of a renewing experience than just a book and toy shop! Craig and Derrick welcome you with delicious tea and chocolate and then invite you to explore the educational books and toys, the fair trade jewelry and gifts for people of all ages. They are incredibly knowledgeable about every item, often knowing the artist or author personally. Peace and social justice are the main themes of Reach and Teach and their origami classes and readings by local authors are part of the community space that encourages curiosity, compassion, and sharing! They have created something very special! We stop in every time we are in the Bay Area and come away with very special items for ourselves and our loved ones!

Reach and Teach never ceases to inspire me when I visit! I always walk away having learned so much on issues important to us as a community, nation and participant in global affairs. The owners and staff are enormously helpful, the selection of reading material is well researched and the learning games for kids of all ages are wonderful to explore!
If you’re ever in need of a truly unique item that possesses a profound backstory and inherent educational value, this is your place.

I used to frequent more often when it was located closer to downtown, stopping by to try out-​of-​the ordinary chocolates or teas, chat with the friendly and awesome owners, or check out new games. I have to agree with the others: this small business is truly a neighborhood gem. I am a very picky person and can always find books and gifts in this space. The owners do an excellent job curating their collection of games, toys, books, jewelry, coffee, tea, chocolate and handmade items. This makes it very easy to pop in and out quickly after purchasing just the right thing. For people with more time to browse, there are comfortable chairs (old-​school bookstore style) and gratis cups of tea and chocolate samples. I always feel very welcome and comfortable when I visit that shop. Please check it out — small businesses need our business to thrive in this modern economy!

Best place to find gifts for folks who seem to have everything and/​or just get inspired & guided by the owners who have carefully curated something for everyone! Super friendly, super helpful & super thoughtful. I am here before the holiday season & birthdays, and also whenever I think the kids might deserve something new & fun.

How lucky that the sushi restaurant I wanted to have lunch at was closed today! Instead, I walked up 25^th Ave to dine and discovered this incredible treasure of a shop that had me completely entranced. By the time I left, I had finished most of my Christmas shopping and even treated myself to a few gifts! I am returning tomorrow for a few more purchases.

To say there is something for everyone is an understatement. Toys, books, games, travel items, whimsical pieces, luscious essential oils, delectable chocolate — so many special fair traded items from various parts of our globe. Every time I looked at another spot, I saw something I couldn’t resist.

Owners Craig and Derrick seem to know everything about the treasures in their beautiful shop and their delight in them is infectious. I left very happy about all the money I spent, because the gifts I purchased were truly special — as was the chocolate bar I munched on the way home.

We love the teaching toys and environment of this store. We bought Makey Makey after watching a live demo. Every time we visit this store, we walk out encouraged and informed as so many times we have gotten into a «lego rut» and now implementing Makey Makey during family time and it feels refreshing to learn along with your child. So many toys we have never seen before that wake up your brain and pull you out of a minecraft/​lego fog :) The staff here are friendly, very knowledgeable and honest. The store itself is welcoming with tea and comfy chairs.

They have creative choices for gifts, which is great. Now my gifts stand out. I also like their causes. Nice owners; great service.

I visited Reach and Teach yesterday just by chance. It’s an amazing store that I will be shopping at for my grandchildren. It’s packed full of wonderful toys, books and fair trade items. I must mention I was greeted so warmly and treated with courtesy, which is a nice thing in this day and age. Please do check out this lovely oasis !!!

This store is amazing. A genuine resource for the Peninsula. I always find amazing gifts, toys, and books here. I often stop in just to look and walk out with something awesome for me and my kids.

Stumbled into this little hole in the wall unique shop. Loved all the green items/​toys for kids. Had fun challenging my husband to Spot It. Hilarious game! Enjoyed talking to the store owners. Picked up some cool things for our grandkids. Will visit again.

I paid my very first visit today and I can safely say this will be my «go-​to» toy and bookstore. It’s a wonderful place full of curated goods. The owners know every item intimately. Every thing they sell has a story of how it came to be in their store.
I felt like I was at a neighbors house instead of shopping. Now I can’t wait to bring along my friends to visit this wonderful place!

I rarely use the phrase «Neighborhood Gem» but Reach and Teach easily qualifies. Every birthday party my daughters go to or baby shower or teacher’s gift starts with a visit here. Their interesting, high-​quality, ethical selection of gifts and books makes finding gifts easy. Every Saturday after «ballerina class» I love spending time with my ballerina just looking at all the interesting stuff and chatting with the owners and petting excitable Holly (the dog). Do drop in. It’s like a little cultural museum.

Recently I’ve been bummed that some of my favorite small businesses have closed. And I didn’t notice that Reach and Teach opened 7 months ago.
It’s a super cool store with a great vbe, next to Kobeya. They have fair trade chocolate out for sampling (nice touch!), books, gifts (some fair trade), games, and more. It’s displayed in a nice, accessible, feng-​shui way.
I noticed a child’s «Build a Robot» gift that earned the Dr. Toy award, and was curious about it. The guy working there (owner maybe?) asked if I’d like to see what it looked like inside. Why, yes, I would.
It wasn’t at all what I expected, so it’s great that he demos toys. This is old-​fashioned customer service, the kind you can’t get in a big chain store.
The Science Math Geeky Fun was a cool section.
It had solar kits and things that I would want for my son or his buddies.
Businesses like these are why I Unilocal.I’ll be back when I need a gift or want to browse again. I want this store to survive. It’s fantastic.

This store is my first choice when it comes to buying cool birthday and holiday gifts! They have awesome toys and fun games. Many of them you can play with. Every time we step in to this store we were having such a great time that we didn’t want to leave.
