I was expecting to enjoy the classic puff with powdered sugar from the Pacific Puff Puff Truck, I am more of a vanilla fruit dessert person. I got a chocolate cream puff with chocolate topping as a last minute addition(not realizing how big they are). The chocolate cream in the puff is phenomenal!!! The texture, flavor, the whole chocolate puff experience… Just lovely.

Consistently amazing! We hit up the puff truck at Off the Grid pretty regularly. Every puff we’ve tried is absolutely amazing! They’re fresh, not soggy, and the ganache is to die for.

I am impressed with their quality. I tried their classic puff in an event in Palo Alto and really liked it. Not too sweet, with great creamy filling. Their classic sugar and chocolatier sounded good, if I was not concerned about my health I would have tried a few more.

The truck was at the Stoneridge Shopping Mall in Pleasanton for the weekly Sunday Off the Grid food truck event. I had the puff with the vanilla cream filling and chocolate topping. Now, while the filling was very good, the puff itself was not in the best shape. They aren’t filling these puffs to order, on this truck. At least they weren’t on the day I had mine. They look like they were filled earlier in the day(or even the previous day maybe?) and put in a fridge until they gave it to me and they tasted like it. The only comparison I can make to this puff would be to Beard Papa’s, since they are the only cream puffs I’ve had in the same category as these. And the difference in ‘freshness’ is night and day between the two. When Beard Papa’s makes a puff, as far as I know, they just take a shell that was baked earlier, shove the filling injector in it, and fill it fresh to order. I don’t see why a truck can’t handle this sort of thing. It’s nowhere near as complex as other trucks with their stoves and whatnot. So I’m pretty disappointed that the truck can’t maintain a higher level of freshness in their puffs. Start filling these fresh on the truck and I’ll try them again.

Pacific Puff serving breakfast? Maybe it’s a work thing… I don’t know if they serve this on the normal menu or not, so don’t judge my review on their normal menu. This review is for their breakfast menu. For their breakfast menu, there was two options, meat puff or veggie puff. It was basically their cream puff dough filled with egg, cheese and ham(for the meat version). Tiny, petite, cute, but not good tasting. How can you put something savory in between cream puff dough? It’s not like a croissant where it’s flaky and buttery deliciousness. No, this is a cream puff so imagine the breakfast the size of a cream puff. On top of that, their puff dough wasn’t even good. It had way too much egg in their mixture that it couldn’t even finish eating it. Nothing helped with the flavor or the texture, that’s how bad it is. I wonder if their actual cream puff desserts fair much better. Maybe I’ll wait for it to come around again to try it.

I was very impressed with the high quality of ingredients, and the mini option is perfect both in size and price. I’m docking a star because the minis don’t have all the special flavors, which would just be perfect — but the classic is pretty great.

We just happened upon a bunch of food trucks and decided to check them out. After grabbing lunch we decided to grab dessert and chose cream puffs since they’re not as easy to find in the far east bay(at least not good ones). I was a little concerned about the filling being overly sweet and heavy, but got the«classic»(large) size because the special that day was salted caramel cream and was only available in that size. I was pleasantly surprised by how light the filling was. It was just sweet enough and the texture was fluffy instead of dense and heavy. It was truly yummy. True they are premade, but it’s really hard to have constantly fresh baked goods available when you’re only open for a short time(it’s a food truck, not a permanent building that’s open all day) so I have no complaints about that. The only problem I had was the price. They have to be an occasional treat instead of a regular indulgence. Fortunately, the truck isn’t in our area(Pleasanton) very often so I won’t go broke, but I’ll be sure to grab some next time I see them.

Not worth paying 3.50 $ for a small crème puff. It was very disappointing.

Bomb. Almost literally. Pricey? Maybe a little. Good? Yep. Borderline too sweet but still love it. Ordered the Classic Sugar and the Chocolatier but pretty sure the guy gave me a Classic instead of Chocolatier =(The cream was nicely thick, not watery like Beard Papa’s. Prefer the brick & mortar but my fave dessert at OTG Belmont(sorry cupcakes and crème brûlée)

$ 3.25 for tennis ball sized and $ 2 for golf ball sized cream puffs. if the cream puffs were life-changing, then i guess that would justify the price. but since the puffs are nothing out of the ordinary, i hate to say it but this is just not worth the money. the choux pastry is airy and light but could not stand up to the runny watery cream. the fruit whip with strawberries came with literally less than one berry sliced up into chunks. the chocolate glaze was pretty good and the cream tasted good, but the overall product seemed to be lacking. the guy in the truck wasn’t exactly welcoming or friendly either, which added to deflating experience.

So, this truck was at the food truck gathering that they have at Hiller Aviation in San Carlos; since I’m such a custard/cream buff, thought I’d jump at the chance to try em out. Skipped all the lunch trucks to wait in line. I guess it’s a red flag when all the other trucks had super huge lines, and this one only had one soul in front of me. Asked for the Classic Sugar Vanilla at a whopping $ 3.25, AND also asked the dude if i could have extra custard(and mentioned that I would pay extra!). He set my expectations pretty excitedly by saying that they were giant gut bombers already loaded with lots of custard, and that I would have my fill — but had precluded this by saying that the cream puffs were PRE-MADE and PRE-FILLED, and that he couldn’t open ‘em up to add more. Well, at $ 3.25 a pop I was really underwhelmed and hugely disappointed. Though the vanilla custard had great lightly whipped texture, and was one of the best I have ever tasted, the size of the puff was COMPARABLE to Beard Papa’s(at $ 1.10 ea over there)… This was not the mini– version that they have, either. Because I know I purchased the Classic and I know I balked at the price! — AND not only that, since the puffs are not prepped in the truck and clearly PRE-MADE at one of their offsite retail locations, the puff was not fresh and had the soft moist soggy texture of a day-old refrigerated cream puff. To sum it up — it was $ 2.00 more each than Beard Papa’s. What a rip-off. Not sure why this gets such high ratings! …The photo that someone posted here with all the filling is really deceiving.

I was not aware of any truck that serves cream puffs, but why not? There are plenty of cupcake trucks, and it’s time other desserts take the spotlight. The great thing about Pacific Puffs is that they have mini puffs, unlike a certain *cough* bearded *cough* chain that gives you a food coma every time you consume one of their puffs. They also have plenty of different flavours, but I must say, the basic chocolate puff with vanilla cream is really solid, despite having been in a truck for a while. Price wise, it wasn’t that bad too, for $ 2 a pop!(the mini puffs)

I tried their peppermint puffs during OTG in Alamada(12.1.12) and it was so yummy! I loved the peppermint filling and with the chocolate top, it reminded me of a good peppermint mocha. The price is a little steep for me– $ 3.25 «tennis ball» size $ 2 for«golf ball» size But I guess it’s ok because I shouldn’t be eating too many cream puffs anyway, aha. It’s worth a try for a good little dessert.

Up till now my preferred puff was a good ‘ol Beard Papa… but I was at an Off the Grid event in Hayward with a few people on Monday night and before we bought our food… we lined up for the Pacific Puffs. They already had a long line(as did everything else), but we didn’t want them to run out of cream puffs before we got to sink our hands on them. Everyone in line were raving about the puffs, and people eating them… made it look delicious. BEWARNED you need napkins to eat these. unless you prefer the messy clothes. Once you take a bite, the oozing cream is delicious, light fluffy and not too sweet. One of my friends ate one, and asked to have the extra. We had 5 people and 6 puffs. We got the Regular size puffs, which were pretty big, at least 3 good bites. I’m not sure how big the mini size is but the regular size is $ 1.25 more but oh so worth it. MMmmMMM It was a long wait in line, but I’d totally do it again. I didn’t get a chance to eat the powdered sugar ones, my friends had those but said they were delicious as well. I will definitely be searching for this truck again.

For $ 3.50 these things aren’t on the cheap side, but they make up on quality. A shell that is light and not too eggy, with soft cream and a small chocolate shell. Now there’s a Beard Papa not too far away but that’s really a different product. A great dessert that’s not too sweet with good balance.

The first time I had these puffs was this past weekend at OTG Southshore. We’ve had Beard Papa’s incredible version in the past, so we wanted to see how Pacific Puff compared. PP’s had the flaky and soft crust and creamy lemony custard(we had the lemon one), but the pastry did not measure up to to BP’s.

omg yes. I have a friend to thank for bringing the Puff Truck to my attention. I don’t say introduce, because, with neither of us having tried it before, we both decided to venture out the Friday of, when the truck made its weekly lunch stop at 1st and Mission. And, well, I say lunch stop, because I literally ate nothing else for lunch that day except for a bag of five(not-quite-so-)mini-puffs. With each being slightly warm and fluffy with cool cream inside, a crisp $ 10 will land you a bag of these, allowing any first-timers to try every flavor available at the time: classic, classic sugar, chocolatier, chocolatier sugar, and the flavor of the week(an amazing peanut butter, when we went). And, while all tasty, I’d personally suggest passing on the classics, unless, for some reason, you dislike chocolate — the chocolate shells just make it that much better. And, so you’re aware, they have two sizes in store: $ 3.25 for a cupcake-sized large, and $ 2 for a slightly-larger-than-golf-ball-sized mini, which is still filling, while allowing for some variety.

Saw the truck at 5th and Minna for lunch time with about 7 other trucks. Decided hell, why not? They were surprisingly so freaking good! I looked at them and thought eh, looks like any other cream puff. Probably on the same level as costco’s frozen cream puffs. I took one bite and the light shined through the windows as music played. Just kidding, but they’re that good!!! The cream filling is rich and creamy, not whipped. The chocolate on top was fantastic too. I walked by the store front on union street too and passed these babies up. And now I know… Minus 1 star for being like $ 4 a pop… But maybe that’s a good thing…

Puff truck sells premade cream puffs with various fillings . the guy working this truck is super friendly and helpful. menu: 3 kinds of cream puff with fillings(3.25) minis(2ish) locale: food truck crush-larkspur(8⁄12) sampling: 3 fruit whip with strawberries(3.25) –cream puff seem to be freshly infused after i ordered. –whipped cream and strawberries very fresh, puff less so. –puff slightly better than breaded papa’s –freshly fried puffs would probably be awesome(at shop) food notes: –cream puffs not comparable to fresh egg puffs at cooking papa(foster city) –cream puffs tastes great but the novelty will wear off.

I ran into this truck while at Off the Grid(San Mateo) and whilst waiting in line for Chairman Bao’s I was struck by that need to have chocolate. Of course, the perk of being over there early was that there was hardly any real lines, so I look over at this truck and voila, no line. Which means I will be content with my chocolate hunger. My BF grabbed the chocolatier and I grabbed a classic(which is filled with vanilla and topped with thick chocolate) out of the bag and I think we were both immensely happy that there were two more in that bag. They were delicious and we were quite happy with the little puffs that we got. The fruit whip does not come in mini size however it’s normal puff size has a great texture and tasty strawberries. You will not be disappointed.
