I came in to look at the CB1100. He not only had exactly what I was looking for he immediately set me up with a test drive. David worked with me to get the deal I needed to own this bike and took the time to help with the sell of my existing bike. Great service and I highly recommend them to anyone that is seriously looking to purchase a motorcycle.

Went in today hoping to find a wide range of bikes and also just to get tips on what to purchase for my first bike. I was very disappointed that no one helped me out. Also the small selection of bikes available. The one employee in the store didn’t even say acknowledge me. I asked a question hoping to get a conversation started but was replied with a one word answer and he went back to ignoring me. I would rate the overall experience with no stars but of course you have to at least put 1. Never coming back. I guess I will have to try fremont and see if I have better luck there.

Excellent and fast customer service. They are helpful even with strange questions. Very easy company to work with! Highly recommend Dave! He cares about his business and I trust my business with him!

I came in looking for a new Honda CRF230 °F. I’ve been looking around and all shops within a 50 mile radius didn’t have them. I sat and talked with Dave during my lunch break, who said he could have one in a week. Naturally, I was skeptical (as I usually am with salesmen). I needed a few things done to the bike, and he mentioned he can make it happen within a week. Honestly, I didn’t think Honda started shipping these bikes out yet, so listened with a grain of salt.
Low and behold, Dave followed through with everything we discussed, and within a week, the CRF230 °F was sitting at the shop. This is BEFORE I even put a penny down for payment or put a reserve on the bike. He gave me a call when the bike arrived in the morning, the mechanic/​s prepped it, and I was able to pick it up that same afternoon. They were the first ones to get this bike among all the shops around the bay area, because two-​three days after I picked it up, I was turning down «call backs» from other dealers. I’ll definitely be doing business with Dave and the folks at this shop. Thanks again, and it was a pleasure!

Eh. Just avoid this place. Went in to look for a new bike and was pretty much ignored. The showroom was small and not much selection. The place has a really depressing atmosphere about it. The older gentleman to the right sitting behind an old desk was too busy lecturing another couple about how impossible it was for an 18−20yr old to obtain financing for $ 10-​$ 12k (so not true) going on and on. We walked around looking for something that caught our eye when went to back by service dept and saw two more gentleman seriously just chillin. Didn’t acknowledge us. We asked if there were more bikes outside for sale since they didn’t have price tags and he seemed to begrudgingly get up to show us. Too many other dealers to buy from to have to settle for this.

i had a great experience with the GM, Dave Rasmussen. I went there intending to buy a Honda scooter similar to the one i currently own in Orange County. i had money in hand, and was planning to drive away on my new scooter. However, upon seeing me and my height he said he didn’t have a bike that would fit me. No pressure sales, no suggestions to try other bikes, no effort to up-​sell me…
I asked if he knew of any other motorcycle shops in the area, because i couldn’t find any… and he quickly referred me to a Vespa shop associated with a local Ford dealership in San Mateo. Because of the way he treated me, i wish i could have bought a scooter from him and Honda Suzuki of San Mateo. thanks Dave!

To be honest, I’m shocked with some of the reviews that I read about this shop. I’m not saying it didn’t happen, just that it didn’t happen to me.
I actually didn’t have time to research this particular shop as I’ve been slowing moving up the east and west coast of The Bay trying to find a good Suzuki service shop. It turned out that someone I was meeting had an appointment in San Mateo and I could leave my bike up there and train it back to pick it up.
I called to make arrangements in advance, letting them know that I would drop it off on a Saturday, and they could keep it as long as they needed to get my oil service, chain service, new tires (that I had purchased from a third party) and some misc. adjustments done to the bike. They were super friendly and gave me an estimate on the phone. When I dropped the bike off, I told them again that they could keep it as long as they needed it, and the guys specifically made me aware that they would only keep it as long as they absolutely needed to in order to get the job done.
They called me the following Tuesday and told me the bike was finished and good to go, and at the estimated price. They could have easily racked up the bill and I would have gladly paid it unknowingly. When I went to pick up my bike it was even cleaned up a bit (and it had been sitting in a garage all winter, so it was a bit dusty).
My ride home to San Jose was like riding a new bike. Everything felt tight and the bike handled beautifully. The clutch adjustment was perfect, like new, and even the shifter was smoother than I remember it ever being.
Truly, Honda-​Suzuki of San Mateo performed magnificent work on my Vstrom.
Thank you to Al and the team. I hope someone who reads this and decides to take a chance comes away with the same experience as I.

DO NOT GO HERE.
I dropped my KLR 650 off here on the 14^th of March. I needed them to change my sprockets, chain and put a new set of tires on the bike. All super easy since I provided the new sprockets and chain when I dropped off my motorcycle.
A few days later I call to ask them about if they can rebuild my shock and they couldn’t (which is fine) but when I call them back after they’ve had my bike for a solid two weeks they tell me they haven’t even touched the bike.
… TWO Weeks and you haven’t managed to essentially change my tires? I was pissed (but polite) and the mechanic SWORE to me on his life (literally) he would start working on the bike in two business days.
FOUR business days later I get a call saying they can’t get the kind of tires I requested they put on my bike and at this point I was livid. Are you telling me after having my bike almost three weeks you only JUST called in the only part you needed to order to complete my repair?
I talk to them on the 3^rd of April and the guy on the phone suggest another type of tire he leads me to believe is in the Pirelli family. I agree for them to order it. He calls me back 20 minutes later to say they are not in fact Pirellis.
It is worthwhile to note that this guy is speaking to me on the phone as if I don’t know anything about motorcycles. Which I can’t even begin to comment on in this review because that alone made me really angry.
I tell him to have the mechanic put everything back on the bike — leaking tires and all and that I will pick it up the next morning. I picked my bike up the next day (THREE WEEKS AFTER DROPPING IT OFF WITH ONLY HALF THE SIMPLE REPAIRS DONE) and drive it straight to Nor Cal Cycles in San Mateo who have 1. Already ordered me a set of suitable Pirelli Scorpions 2. Are able to re-​build my shock and 3. Do really great work in general.
I will never forgive myself to trying out Honda-​Suzuki of San Mateo on a whim. My boyfriend and I have four motorcycles between the two of us and are probably going to be adding a Honda or Royal Enfield (which they sell) to our garage by the end of the year.
I will never go to that shop again for so much as engine oil.

if i could give them no stars i would. they are managed by one of the rudest persons i have ever met in my life. i am a nobody so i cant do much but this guys deserves a kick in the teeth

AVOID at all costs! I took in my Suzuki for routine service/​oil change and after shelling out over $ 200 for the service, instead of tuning up my bike they actually broke it — I wasn’t able to shift gears and the bike kept rolling even when I had the clutch in. To make it worst, the owner Jim was utterly rude and refused to help fix the bike on Saturday afternoon. Instead, he told me that I’d have to come back on Tuesday to pick it up during work hours. He even tried to insinuate that somehow I’d brought in a broken bike to the dealership and that it wasn’t his responsibility! I had to take a taxi to get home and was without transportation for days. Horrible experience. Horrible customer service. Horrible mechanical expertise.
Save yourself the headache and take your bike somewhere else.

Two stars for being willing to adjust my chain on short notice (I didn’t have a wrench large enough for my rear axle nut).
They only get two stars because they didn’t tighten my chain even closely to specification, yet the mechanic, Pat, had the audacity to ask for $ 20 cash for the work.
$ ²⁰⁄₁₀ mins would extrapolate to a $ 120/​hr work rate, which is on the higher end of the spectrum. As such, I would at least expect quality work.

Another case of a disappearing review as I know I have reviewed this business before.
I have had a long history with Honda-​Suzuki of San Mateo. My both and I purchased out motorcycles there. We purchased equipment and accessories too. Service? We have had more than a few encounters with the service department over the years.
As far as sales goes I think we both enjoyed our purchases. We never felt any kind of pressure to buy now. Buy every visit was informative and cordial. When we had made the choices we wanted (complete different bikes) John and Jim continued to offer helpful advice. Advice that was not always meant a profit, but surely advice that kept us happy.
As far as the service end of the shop goes I have to say I have had mostly good experiences, with a few bad trips as well. Early on in my history the shop was totally on top of everything. Tire changes were performed without marring or scratching the rims. Other services never missed even the smallest details. However, later on in my relationship I did experience some serious errors that led me to visit this shop less than I had in the past.
Roll forward to today and I find the place looks to be for sale. Well no surprise there. The owners are older and the times are tougher. If Honda-​Suzuki of San Mateo end their business run I will miss them. Especially the for sales.

I have been in the dealership a few times and I have been very pleased with my experience.
I have spoken with both John and Jim and they were knowledgeable, professional, friendly and responsive.
I would highly recommend Honda-​Suzuki of San Mateo to anyone needing service or a new bike.

Went on a limb and called them to look at my non-​Honda bike. I know it’s not their specialty, but my bike was flooded and thought they could help me with a simple problem.
The guy told me, «We don’t work on those bikes. No, we won’t even look at it».

The owners do not give a damn about running the business. In fact Honda wants to drop them as a dealer because they are so horrible.
I ended buying my bike at Berkeley Honda Yamaha instead of these jokers. Yes that’s right — although I live in the peninsula I had to go to Berkeley to buy my bike.

this place deserves not even 1 star. went in to look at the bikes cause i was next door. the sales dude could barely walk and the computer he was using looked like a Commodore 64. LMAO!
When i inquired about the new Honda’s side bags and asked hoe they opened, the dude said, ‘you’ll figure it out’. i’m NOT shitting you.
Yeah, i figured it out alright.
I figured out that I won’t be coming back nor writing him a postcard.

I rolled in to this joint on my HD Sportster just looking for some air in a low rear tire. The Mechanic offered to fill my tire with no questions asked. When he had trouble with the tire plug he says, Here’se your problem… and he replaced the valve stem, filled my tire and sent me on my way. I didn’t have any cash and he said; «No problem, ride safe»
Amen. I will be back!

I can’t believe this place can sell anything! I have known this shop has been there for many years. Quite some time ago I bought a helmet there, when I was going to get into riding (which didn’t happen). Now, I’m ready to get into motorcycling and went back to check the place out. It’s a local store, and I had every intention to work with them to purchase my first motorcycle. Well, I don’t think that’ll be happening.
I walked in and was greeted (sort-​of) by a guy sitting at his desk accross the small showroom. He was an older man, greying hair, thin build… I wish I asked for his name for this review. I told him I was looking to purchase a motorcycle in the next month or so, to which he replied, «Why not today?,» in a not-​so-​joking tone. Then he proceeded to lecture me for missing the great motorcycle event that just happened this past weekend, and how that would have been the opportunity to check out motorcycles. So, going into a motorcycle shop doesn’t work for that?
Still hopeful that I would receive some customer service, I told him that I was basically interested in a cruiser-​type motorcycle, possibly a Honda, but I was not familiar with the models. He told me he didn’t have anything in the showroom for me to see, and he did not have any brochures for the upcoming model year. I asked if he had any brochures from this past year so I could at least get an idea of what I was getting into, but this request was all but ignored. I even mentioned that I had a price range, but he seemed too uninterested to ask me what that was. The guy told me that if I was interested in Hondas, to go on their website. This just about ended his «help.»
I wandered around for a few minutes and looked at the several motorcycles on the showroom floor, which actually fit the basic description of what I told the guy I was interested in. But, by this point, I had all but made up my mind that this would not be the place I was going to spend my money. I said my goodbye, and walked out the door. The guy never got up from behind the desk the whole time. He kind of reminded me of a bitter used car salesman, but minus the desire to sell me anything… including a return visit to the store when they got their new stock.
I don’t know what was going on when I walked in there today, but you only get one chance to make a first impression, and that was a pretty bad first impression. It took all my willpower to not make a rude comment as I left. Part of me didn’t want to burn any bridges. Some of the reviews say they do good repairs/​service. So, maybe I’ll return someday to have my motorcycle serviced or repaired… the motorcycle I will buy somewhere else.

Do they want customers? Do they want sales? ‘Cause from our treatment last weekend, it appears not. Walked in, no other customers in the showroom, but the sales person clearly had no interest in talking with us (we seriously looking for a new bike) and when we said we had «one question», he rolled his eyes and said he had another customer coming in in a few minutes.
Well fortunately for him we left, to free up his time! There are plenty of other cycle shops on the Peninsula; we’ll take our business elsewhere!
