Business Owner
Nadia took her first belly dance lesson in 1968 from Roman Balladine (Bert), she fell in love with it instantly. After about six months she was hired by Fadil Shahine when the Casba was a belly dance club on Broadway in San Francisco. From there came the opportunity to open her own studio and dance in various venues. One student had ties with the Middle East which opened an invitation to dance for Middle Eastern notables, A Sheik and the Counsel General of Iran back in the 1970’s. Nadia has been making beautiful hand beaded custom costumes for herself and other dancers since the late 60’s.
Nadia now enjoys teaching at her new home studio in San Mateo. Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced classes as well as fitness classes are offered. Drummer Mike Fair offers classes for Middle Eastern Doumbec and other percussion instruments. Drum circles are planned each summer.
Costume workshops are offered by Nadia. Private classes are available by appointment.
