Citibank

bad period.

This is a review for Phillip Braga, who is a Home Lending Officer at Citibank in the San Mateo office. He worked very closely with my family during the complex and time-​consuming funding process. Since we had a recent apartment purchase in a foreign country, there were many extra complications. Phillip fought hard to justify our financial position to the underwriters and saved us significant money on fees. He even kept on the job working overtime late at night and during his vacation!

Avoid like the plague!!!
The clerks here are seriously stupid.
They should not be allowed to handle other people’s money.
They will make a mistake with your transaction and it will take you a long time to get your money back.
Avoid at all costs!
Go to Wells Fargo instead.

Don’t Go here. Only one teller who seems to care about service and giving the right amount back. I feel bad for her, even management seems to sit around ignore customers when the line is out the door. Tried them three times, never again.

If this was my home branch, I would sever my ties after 30 years with Citibank. I’m used to long waits at this branch for anything non-​teller related. But I do expect decent customer service from the Branch Manager. While Tracy was not rude, she left me stymied. The teller was the one apologizing for my great inconvenience.

Generally the service at this branch is no better or worse than other banks. When I have to use a teller they are polite, friendly and helpful within the constraints of the banking system.
Yesterday the branch was closed due to a power outage. Of course, I found out when I went to deposit a check that I couldn’t deposit via mobile banking. So, I thought that before I made a fruitless trip today, I’d call the branch.
That’s when I found out that it is completely impossible to talk to a live person.
Some business still needs to be transacted the old fashioned way — it’s sad to see that Citibank doesn’t make that possible.

This branch at one time had a friendly helpful staff — NO MORE.. . The manager is just a _​_​_​_​_​_​. There are better banks and credit unions. Thats where I taking my money and business.

In today’s wired world, everyone pays their bills online, shops online, interacts with the world online. Then when walking down the street we all have Ipods plugged into our ears, blocking out the rest of the world. So me, I’m back to old school… I want service from a live person. I want to talk to people, interact with people.
My first business with this branch was when I saw a good rate for a 5 month CD. So I got some money I had laying around and set one up a few years ago. The service is friendly and the branch is conveniently located in downtown SM. Now I do most of my banking with Citibank. I even pay my credit card bills here too.
Maybe I’m a cost-cutter’s nightmare since I could just as well use the ATM, but I enjoy chatting with the tellers so even for mundane tasks like deposits I go to the counter. And most times there’s less than 2 people ahead of me in line.
After the branch closes the ATMs are still accessible within the building so you’re not fiddling outside in the dark. Not that I’d know, my card has never seen the inside of an ATM.

I’ve had a personal gripe with Citibank over the last few years whether in NY or CA. With this location the hours are impossible to make without getting up early on a Saturday to haul myself in so I never am able to accomplish much with this bank. Customer service is pretty good but taken into consideration that I had to wait forever during the slim hours I could actually get there, I was highly unamused.
