Chu Design & Engineering

I’ll spare you the ugly details, but the executive summary is that, as the previous reviewer indicated, Jack Chu is totally unprofessional. Our experience with him was awful, and I would not advise working with him or this company.

Jack Chu «design two houses for Pan Geo Enterprises, they did not fit the lot, Jack forgot a 20 ft tall retaining wall and 48 ft long.
He has been taken to court and was sanctioned by the engineering board because he violated and fraud was part of the law suit. He used his fathers stamp to stamp his poor designs, Jack hasw no license neither as engineer or architect. Jack and Chu design and Engineering have a judgment to pay for 207,200.00 that he has not paid at all.
I would not consider this people at all for any construction project.

I was struggling to get plans for a deck replacement approved by planning department — we had drawings done by a designer who said she had gotten permits approved in other cities with her drawings. As it turned out, the city engineer doing the plan checking wanted true engineering drawings. (I was pulling the permit as an «Owner-​Builder».)
I was referred to Chu Design by an electrical contractor friend. I met with Johnson Chu the same day I called. He took the designs, converted them to real engineering plans, talked with the city enginer and even took the plans to him for the approval — so all I had to do was go to the planning office and pay the permit fees.
Johnson responded promptly to my emails and was just great! I would use the firm in a heartbeat if I needed design/​engineering work done!
