Blossom Salon and Spa was founded in 2014 by owner, Michelle Cao. Her drive for a distinct vision created an absolutely stunning Salon and Spa that caters to the every need of our guests. With her professional guidance and expertise, we strive to create a welcoming and beautiful environment for everyone to enjoy. Our customer service will always exceed your expectations and our level of service will keep you coming back.

We are conveniently located at the new Bay Meadows development, near Whole Food. We welcome all guests to try us and experience what we can do for you.

Michelle C.

Business Owner

Michelle Cao’s career spans nearly two decades and two continents. She was born and raised in Vietnam, studied cosmetology in Hong Kong and trained with one of the best stylists in Japan before getting a secondary cosmetology license from the San Francisco Institute of Esthetics and Cosmetology.

Michelle’s passion for this industry is driven by helping people look and feel beautiful, inside and out. Her vision and philosophy aligns with AVEDA’s: connecting beauty, environment and well-​being. She is committed to caring for the world we live in by first and foremost caring for and supporting the community she is a part of. This is the reason she opened Blossom Salon & Spa in 2014.

As owner and master stylist, Michelle deeply values continuing education. To her, it is important to remain current not only on the hottest trends in fashion, but also on new techniques and the best products for her clients.

I believe it’s important to protect and preserve our environment. And at Blossom salon they use all naturally derived ingredients that are good for the earth.
Michelle, the owner, is an amazing Aveda color artist, and very personable.

I’ve frequented Blossom since relocating & Sasha does amazing blondes! While Sasha is amazing (if you have blonde hair, you get the appreciation I have for her toning skills) — I wanted others to know about their recently acquired and equally awesome employee, Uyen Tran.
Uyen did my nails today & even though I hardly ever review I figured someone out there would appreciate knowing she knows her stuff! I had a random idea & she easily ran with it.
I love my nails & any lady looking for a quick shiiiiine should see her. She also does facials :)

I love the fact that Blossom Salon & Spa offers several services. The location is beautiful, clean, relaxing, and the staff is wonderful! My stylist is Alex Vega and he’s a true joy to work with. He’s knowledgable, personable, and has a great sense of style. The fact that they offer complimentary bubbly is a big plus too! It’s definitely a spa feeling vs just going to a regular salon.

Make an appointment to see Alex and you will not be disappointed! I always enjoy getting my haircut by Alex but this particular haircut was special. In the back of my mind I had always wondered what it would be like to have short hair. I have always had long hair and never dared to go short because I worried I wouldn’t be able to pull it off. Alex was very excited to try out a new look with me since he’s experimented on my hair before and I trust he’ll go above and beyond. I was very nervous at first but as he opened up about how he was going to style my hair the tension wore off. As he started cutting the layers off and began styling I thought to myself «this isn’t a bad look for me.» Alex is so full of energy and did a great job and kept me very entertained during the entire haircut. He even began cracking jokes up until the haircut was over. Alex did a phenomenal job and I highly recommend you ask for him for any style haircut! :)

This is a fantastic and relaxing place! The entire staff is warm and friendly. I had my first experience coloring my hair today and Tristar managed to figure out what I want and make my hair look stunning! And, we had such a blast! Selena is a really good esthetician. I had a elemental nature facial at blossoms. My skin was so dry and dull before the service. She did a really good job. I felt so relaxing and I like he way she did facial massage and She suggested me to use aveda hydration lotion and skin refiner to exfoliate my skin and give moisture to my skin. I really like the products that she recommended. Thank you so much Selena!!!

I got my hair cut by Sam yesterday and am really loving the outcome. I have short hair and have found that it’s not everyone’s specialty. Sam mentioned that he loves cutting short hair, and it shows. He was so nice and really took care that the cut was even and just the right amount of texture.
The salon itself is beautiful without the pretentious vibe. Plus they have all my beloved Aveda products. I’ll definitely return!

Tarah= MIRACLE WORKER.
I came to Blossom Salon Spa the day after a horribly botched haircut and color at Magnolia Avenue Salon in Larkspur. Long story short, I had ended up looking like a platinum blonde ball of fluff (a far cry from the long, highlighted layers I had so desired).
I was lucky enough to get in on a Sunday when Tarah had a cancellation. I told her my plight, and she listened, sympathized, understood, and proceeded to transform my hair from «Marilyn Monroe on meth» to a natural-​looking cool blonde. She was even able to refine the horrific «layers» I had received from the previous salon. Not only did I no longer look like my head went through a blender, it actually looked great! The only downside to all of this was the price, but it was worth it to save myself months of avoiding mirrors.

I love this place. James always does a wonderful job. I followed James to this salon from another place. When he first moved I lost track of him and had to try out a slew of different barber shops and salons as I wasn’t sure where he had gone. After about 5 or 6 haircuts in a row that I was just not completely happy with, I ran into James at the mall one day and found out where my stylist had been! I have been reunited with my stylist and I will never switch. He is always responsive to my requests, and always remembers how I like my hair. He is also open to experiments and takes notes to remember what he did, so if I like it, he can replicate the technique next time.
The other thing that is great about this place is the treatment you get from the entire staff here. Top notch pros. They always offer you a beverage (usually tea or coffee, but I think they have wine as well) when you come into the waiting area and the place is very clean.

I have been searching for a long time for a salon like this. After many years of trying out salons in Marin county, San Francisco, and even New York, I thought I would never be satisfied. Finally, I came across Blossom! I have Asian hair which is very difficult to cut especially with all of my strong cowlicks which makes most hairstylists cringe. However, Michelle is truly wonderful. She knows exactly what kind of cut will work best for my hair type and facial features. Her vision to select the best hair color for my complexion is amazing as well.
The salon is esthetically beautiful and the atmosphere is welcoming. The staff are all friendly and compassionate. I always feel welcome and am treated with such great hospitality. I love all of my experiences here. I highly recommend this salon as it is without a doubt the best. My only regret is that it took me so long to find it!

My First time here was three days ago and I’m a Aveda Customer for quite a while now, I came to blossom salon and spa to get my hair done just because my previous hair dresser moved from location and I couldn’t get to her anymore.
I remember that Aveda offers Hair services so I decided to give it a try .
I made the best choice I had in years when it comes to my hair!
My new hairstylist Sasha was very attentive, professional, friendly and so knowledgable and that’s not all, this place is impeccable clean, the service was beyond excellent. I felt so pampered and so comfortable that I put all my confidence on her that I let her do whatever she needed to do to my hair in order to reach the color I came for (ash/​grey). Obviously my hair is Dark so I will have to make few more visits with Sasha to keep working on my hair and let her do her magic. (I will totally come back!).
Since it was my first time here, I got a $ 20 discount (awesome!!!)
All the team at blossom salon and spa are so welcoming and so attentive. I will totally recommend this place.

I started going to Blossom about a year ago after moving to San Mateo from SF. Michelle runs a great studio. James is an excellent stylist.
If you’re one of the many people moving here from the city, you will notice some good things about getting your hair styled at Blossom in San Mateo:
— Your appointment will last a full hour. They will not rush you out the door.
— The studio is very clean and bright with plenty of room to walk around. There won’t be 10 other stylists crammed into a small space wielding sharp implements.
— The music adds to the atmosphere. They will not play thrash metal at full blast while you get your hair cut.
— A glass of wine or tea will be ready for you! They will not ironically serve you PBRs.
Sometimes change is good. As a guy, I would encourage you to check it out.

It’s about time that I write this long overdue review! I’ve been having my haircut by James for the past year and I couldn’t be happier! On my first visit, I was totally surprised! I have to admit, I had never had a stylist ask as many questions about my hair as James did! He «genuinely» seemed determined to give me a the best haircut I had ever had. Well, it’s now one year later and he’s still giving me the best haircut I’ve ever had! I should also add that the owner Michelle is great! She has an energy that lights up the salon and she always makes you feel welcome and appreciated! I actually look forward to getting my haircut!

I go to James for my hair cuts. He does a great job directing me in how to style my hair. He’s very thorough and always makes sure it looks perfect. My wife sees James as well and loves him and we bring my 4 year old son and he’s done a great job with his hair. I have been to other Aveda salons, but honestly, I never really got the «hype». That all changed the 1st time I stepped into Blossom Salon. Michelle and her team make every interaction, every service feel special. It goes far beyond the Aveda products, tea, and oils they offer though. What Michelle has created at Blossom is an extension of her personal belief in excellence, and making every customer feel like they are the only person in the shop.
Finding someone you can trust to deliver consistent, quality hair care is not easy. Finding a salon where you can get that service without all the (unfortunately) typical salon drama is even more difficult. Michelle and her team ensure that Blossom *is* that needle in the haystack and that every customer experience is exceptional.
I know most people enjoy getting their hair done, but an appointment at Blossom is SO much more. It’s a wonderful, relaxing visit with friends that just so happens to let me leave looking far better than I did walking in.

I rarely get manicures. They never last long on my fingers and I’m a mom so I’m constantly working hard with my hands. That said, maybe I’m not used to what a good manicure looks like, but I *would* expect it to look better than what I could do myself.
Unfortunately today I feel that isn’t what I got, but I would still return for another shot. It was a lovely, well-​maintained salon with attentive and courteous staff.
