25th Avenue Farmers’ Market

Happened to be in the area and found this great Farmers’ Market. Great fresh veggies and fruits. I bagged up a selection of pluots, apricots, nectarines and plums and made a great fruit salad for dessert.
The veggies are great and fresh also.
Small and quick in and out — perfect for your midweek addition to the crisper.

Such a cute little farmers market. Don’t expect the whole shebang. Its literally about 10 – 12 stands on Tuesdays from 4 – 7. Theres always the kettle corn guy and roli roti (tends to get busy!)
I always get organic strawberries from the front, pay the extra few dollars for the organic ones! They’re so much sweeter its ridiculous. I get pluots and nectarines from the stand next to them. Theres not a huge variety of veggies and fruits, but everything is extremely fresh! You also get samples of the fruits at just about every stand.
Come after 630 when prices are dropping! I usually get my fruits for a dollar a pound, call me swiper cause thats a steaaaaal.

The farmers market here is cool. They were done and on the last day, people were buying large amounts of produce, a boxful. The food trucks were good, they had kettle corn popcorn, and rotisserie chicken, were all good. The grapes were really cheap, we bought a bagful, and some batches of strawberries. The farmers are very generous, when it comes to price, like $ 3 to $ 5 on big batches of fruits. And gets sold out quickly.

There’s a tamale cart here with Salvadorean and Mexican tamales and empanadas.
Tamales are 2 for $ 6, and empanadas are 2 for $ 5.
I had pork, and my friend had chicken. Both were really good, but the chicken was juicier. I was surprised by how big the tamales were. Will definitely be back for more!

This farmers market is pretty cool.
Theres lots of great samples. I got free sunglasses last time I came.
The chicken and potatoes dinner plate is very excellent and the ribs are too.
I also love the kettle corn. Everyone’s very nice and friendly.
Theres even a jumpy house. It never really gets too crowded with you and thats a big bonus plus tons of areas for parking.

I was surprised when I got to this farmers market to see how small it was. Maybe a total of 10 stands max. The thing that was good about it though was the pricing for the fruit was good. It was even cheaper than the big CSM one on Saturday. And this was when it first opened. Peaches for $ 2/​lb and at the one on saturday the same week it was $ 2.50-$ 3/​lb. So I scored a good deal by coming here. I was also surprised to see the Roli roti truck serving up chicken. The even have a tamale lady selling from her cart. That had the longest line. I already had food but maybe I will try it out next time. For what it is, I was pretty pleased at what they had available.
I’ll come back when needed to get some fresh fruit on Tuesdays in the summer.

This is a pretty good mini-​farmers market. However, full disclosure we live with in walking distance and its nice to come by on a summer evening. Not sure if I would drive here from far, but its pretty good as a neighborhood farmers market. The chicken truck is a regular stop here and so is the tamale guy.

A very small Farmers Market but lots of delicious, fresh fruit and produce options. I’ve been disappointed that each time we’ve gone the kettle corn guy hasn’t been up and running by the time we leave but we more than make up for what we would have spent on his popcorn at the other stands. Everyone offers samples and you can eat your way up one aisle and down the other. Friendly merchants, delicious products — and we’re usually in and out in 15 minutes and stocked for the week. Recommended!

Ended up here again because my regular market was canceled due to 4^th of July falling on the same day.
I hadn’t been to this market in awhile, and had high hopes that it had grown since my last visit.
While they have a few vendors I see at other markets, the variety of vendors is lacking.
There were several items I couldn’t find, that I can always find at my 2 regular farmers markets.
If you live nearby, I can see frequenting this market, but if not, skip it.

Great hidden farmer’s market.
This is perfect for those days when you want to get in, get your produce, start up a conversation, and then head home for dinner.
Random Pros:
Just the right amount of crowded.
I’ve never had a problem getting parking close-​by.
The train station is a short walk away.
Vendors at this market are always nice, and willing to geek it out with me over fresh apricots.

Yes this is a small Farmers Market hidden in the 25^th Ave neighborhood. A good place to pick up your organic or non — organic produce. There are a couple of ready togo food stands but I do not usually get anything from them. The price is competitve to grocery stores.
Hint: go after 7 – 7:15 and the fruits go on sale. Look for the stands in the middle.

Not large, so you can zip through pretty quickly on a work night. I passed through around 6:30 and there were a lot of $ 1/​lb deals going on. Everyone was super friendly. Had the tamales — masa was good but meat was dry.

This is a very small market with a handful of vendors. They got Scream Sorbet and a few other prepared foods vendors this year, making it a little better than before. To my knowledge, there is only one all-​organic vendor that isn’t even always there, but multiple strawberry vendors, so it’s a bit off balance. The large tent on the corner closest to the street always has very cheap produce.

I think this farmers market, for the most part, is a waste of time. If Tue is the only day you have to shop it then go for it, but if you can wait until Sat. go to College of SM and you will be much happier with the selection.

Solid Farmer’s Market… on the smaller side, just half of a church parking lot. The 2 vendors I always go to are the Tamale lady and the RoliRoti chicken guy. Get a tamale while you walk around and then get a half chicken to go — you will not regret it.
The bread guy has lots of good deals and also deserts like pumpkin bread and chocolate zucchini.
Fruits are good, I’d recommend the strawberry guy and then the corner guy for the rest.

Fresh fruits and vegetables for very reasonable prices.
They also had the best peaches and cherries last summer.

i wish the bread vendor would stop offering me bread samples every visit because i am tired of spending money on pure bliss.
mmmmmmmm bread. number one reason why i stop here on my way home from work every tuesday. potato rolls, jalapeño loaves, chocolate zucchini bread… did i say mmmmmm? drool.
as mentioned below. orchids are still chaeeep. beat costco prices fo sure. and of course there’s the standard supply of fruits and vegetables, hummus and gourmet cupcakes. but really, the bread makes the trip worth it.

Although it seemed small (it was about to close, I think), I really liked this farmer’s market. There was a flower/​plant tent with lots of well-​priced orchids as well as a sweet tent of Kenyan jewelry for sale. Cool.

San Mateo’s little known Tuesday night secret!
Was walking around after dinner on sleepy 25^th Ave when we happened to come upon a full farmers market at the way end of the street in the parking lot of the First Presbyterian Church. They had a very good number and variety of booths: fruits, fresh fish, baked goods, kettle corn, rotisserie chicken, cheeses, various dips/​spreads, live music, and a clown making balloons for kids. However, there weren’t that many people — not sure if it was because everyone’s on vacation the day before July 4 or because people don’t know about it.
Bottom line: If you are hungry for a Tuesday night farmers market, here’s a decent one for you. I think they are open until 8pm so show up 7:30pm and after for the best deals as they start to get rid of their goods.
