Stone & Cabinet Depot

I have a tendency to take forever to make a decision and choosing a new countertop for my kitchen was no exception. From the first day I walked into Stone Depot (just me and my 3 year old), I was treated with respect, kindness, and patience. Peter was friendly and helpful. He gave me good advice and steered me in the right direction. Because of his help and patience (I took like a month to choose!!), I have the most beautiful countertop that I will be happy seeing for years to come. I also purchased my sink from him and I LOVE it! I have recommended Stone Depot to a couple of friends already!
When it came time for the work to be done in my house, the guy didn’t show up on time because of another job he was finishing, but I believe that if you expect patience and understanding from others, you must extend patience and understanding to them.
I had my cabinets refaced, a new built in made, and a mantel done by Hugo. They are amazing! Hugo is very talented.
I will also add that as I look for a new backsplash, I have appreciated Peter’s honesty. I found a better price on tile at a different place and he didn’t try to convince me what he had was better quality, better anything. He told me that was a great price and it was a no-​brainer to go with it.

Its kind of a long story, so I will give the cliff note version. We bought a Ryland Home in San Elijo Hills and they used an inferior product (e-​stone) on all the standard counter tops in all the bathrooms. E-​stone is marble dust and resin. Being mostly marble everything etches it, toothpaste, anything acid or base, even Windex. So why did Ryland use it? It was cheap. We complained to Ryland (now Cal Atlantic Homes) and all they would do is re-​polish the surface once during the one year home warranty. So, our options were go legal and probably loose as Ryland has better lawyers or suck-​it-​up and replace the counter in all four bathrooms.
So, we consulted Unilocal and found Stone Depot and got a bid from John for not only replacing the counter tops in 3 of the 4 bathrooms, but adding ledge stone to the master bath that matched the existing tile. We had to work closely with the installers as we removed the hideous counter cabinets Ryland built in the master bath and all the mirrors and replaced them with custom mirrors that had to be install over the ledge stone – not a standard install.
The long and short of it was Stone Depot did an excellent job at a very reasonable price. The installers were knowledgeable and very helpful and now we have bathrooms that are not only serviceable, but they are a major WOW factor in our home. Thanks Stone Depot.

I cannot say enough good things about Stone Depot. John and Peter were nice, friendly, good-​humored and patient. We bought a house in terrible shape here in San Marcos and completely renovateded everything. Unfortunately, since it was a total overhaul our kitchen budget was tight and WAY under the «5−10% of the homes’ value» we were being quoted at other places. Unable to drop a full year’s salary on a kitchen, we read good reviews about Stone Depot. I didn’t expect miracles, as the big box places had thoroughly stomped out my enthusiasm. HOWEVER, I was extremely surprised by Stone Depot.
Not to sound cheesy, but they delivered me EVERYTHING I wanted, plus cool bonuses, all within budget. The price came in right at budget even after tax. It included 20+ pieces of cabinets (inc’l 2 full pantry cabinets, spice drawer, lazy Suzan cabinet, trash cabinet and wine rack), countertops, a undermount sink, and an awesome swan-​neck faucet. The only thing in the kitchen NOT from stone depot was the appliances (though I’m sure Peter and John know a guy) :-)
Every little hiccup or bump in the road was handled by John, and handled very professionally and super fast. The communication was great, timeline was extra speedy, and ALL of their installers were courteous and nice. I love my kitchen and wanted to thank everyone at Stone Depot a million times over. I have recommended them to anyone who would listen, and will continue to do so.

My wife and I were shopping for a countertop for a wet bar in our house and checked out two stores with great reviews. The first one never responded to me. I sent them a sketch online and was supposed to get a quote in 24-​hours and never heard back.
We went to Stone Depot and met with Peter. He showed us everything he had in all price ranges including the remnants. We were able to find exactly what we needed. As promised, Mike, the installer was out at our house by the next week. In less than two hours, he had everything installed and it looked fantastic.
I would highly recommend using Stone Depot. You will get great service, good prices and fast service.

I have been meaning to write a review for years now. I went into Stone Depot (before they had cabinets) to get travertine for our very large remodel. We bought well over 1400 sq ft of natural stone for flooring and bathrooms. The quality and colors were consistent and beautiful — my favorite were the Scabo accents. Peter the owner always
made sure what we received was matching the original colors — if something came in that was questionable — he would take a sample and color match it. For me, spending a little extra time waiting for the perfect material was well worth it, Victor installed all the granite in our home he is fabulous– and our home is truly beautiful.
Our first rental property that needed a major overhaul — I went straight in to see Peter and Sean, this time for flooring and cabinets. We installed a beautiful wood patterned ceramic plank floor, what a great option for a rental house– it’s stunning. This time we added an entire kitchen with cabinets and granite counters, Victor made me a beautiful curved edge on an overhang of granite. Their cabinets are really quality, solid woods with current designs, deep drawers — and granite selections are really beautiful. The cabinets are as close as I’ve seen to my custom cabinets in my own home.
These guys are not only a nice as they come but really care about the end results!

become my first choice in San Diego County for granite, tile, and cabinets because of the price, quality, selection, location, and customer service.

I wandered into Stone Depot while pricing cabinets and having only recently been to the big box stores, I was surprised at the cost difference. It was essentially half. Let me just say this made me worry that it was too good to be true. Not the case at all. Sean did a quick estimate and stuck to it. Their lead time was short and their materials are good. Bottom line: you will save money with these guys. PERIOD. Their installers were great and know their trade. I just can’t see why you would want to spend 45% more on the same cabinets somewhere else. Sean always made sure we were getting what we need. He personally measured our kitchen space and showed up during construction to see how things were progressing. We did our own demo to save money, and ended up with a fabulous kitchen at a fantastic price. Go with this company, you won’t regret it.

I never thought I’d have such a beautiful kitchen! Sean worked with me on a price and materials. Mike installed those counters like they were in his own house. Everyone was friendly and professional and really understand the meaning of customer service. I would recommend them to anyone.

These people are awesome! I was scammed buy a non contractor and was left with a mess and unfinished work at my house that I rent out to tenants. I came to Stone Depot and they really helped us figure it all out and even worked us in to have it all done in a less than a week. Being our tenants were out of a kitchen for 3 weeks prior. They worked late and early morning just to help us and gave us a beautiful kitchen. Sean and Peter were always professional and very friendly, they are such a charm to have at perfect timing. Just moved into a new home and needed to remodel the Kitchen desperately. I had never done this before and had no idea what to expect. I found Stone Depot on line and since it was close decided to stop in and explore. Peter and Sean were so helpful that I left feeling more confident about the project. I went back a week later and started browsing cabinets and counter tops. Sean came to my house and measured and made suggestions as to what to put where. When I returned to the Depot I saw a piece of granite in the yard that I fell in love with. I started with the kitchen then because it was going so well added on the Master Bathroom, then the powder room and laundry room. From the initial visit to the end of the job everything went smoothly — no pulling out my hair or yelling at anyone — YAY. They were polite, professional and did an amazing job. This includes the guys doing the demo as well as the granite fabricator and of course Sean and Peter. Sean was on top of everything and kept me informed at all times. Sean always returned phone calls and if there was a snag (only one) it was taken care of the same day with a smile.
My entire job including Kitchen, Master Bath, Powder room and laundry came in at just under $ 19,000 for all the cabinets, sinks, granite counter tops (two slabs), demo and installation. I am a HAPPY customer and will be back to do another bathroom in the near future. I am pleased to recommend them to anyone who might have a doubt.

Peter and Sean are my heroes! We were in a time crunch to finish a bathroom before my parents move in date and these gentlemen really came through for us with a beautiful white quartz vanity top. They listened when I explained our situation and ideas, found what we needed in a timely way and gave us a great deal. Did I mention that they’re good listeners! The local installer they sent did a great job and was very pleasant as well. We will use them again when we move ahead with another phase of our project.

Although I am fairly new to using Unilocal I never thought I would send an update to a post I gave a favorable review too but I received an automated email from Unilocal saying someone commented on my original post. When I click the link to read what was said I couldn’t find my post at all. After doing some research I found out that since I am newer user without a lot of reviews the system automatically removes my review from the overall rating. I would have never noticed this if it weren’t for the response to my original post I got from the company. I decided to write an update to make sure my honest review was there for others to take into consideration when selecting a place to buy granite and cabinets. For Unilocal having a big claim that businesses can’t pay to change or alter reviews it is strange to me that they would filter responses at all.

I was looking for granite countertops for two of my bathrooms and I found then there for a great price. They were the closest spot to my house that has a remnants yard and can cut the granite on site. Most spots I looked at you had to hire someone else to cut it unless I wanted to drive down to San Diego. I went there and lucked out and found two matching countertops in the yard that just needed to be cut for the sink and faucets. I bought them both and they through in some matching backsplashes with them. I ordered them right before the new year so it took a little longer for them to get cut than I hoped for but Sean kept me updated on the progress and he got them to me the first Monday of the new year like he said he would. I have never installed counters before so I asked some questions and he helped explain the process to me. After getting them home I couldn’t get the sink to fit correctly so he sent two of his guys to my house within 30 minutes of the conversation to look at it. They brought tools with him and said they could fix it if I wanted them to. He made a couple minor cuts to my cabinet that are not noticeable when the counter is installed and it fit nicely. He did this at no charge to me, which I thought was very nice and professional of him. It isn’t a huge shop but they do have a nice selection and due to them cutting granite on site it is a bit dusty but I could say them same thing about major home repair stores as well.

If you are looking to save time and money I highly recommend stone depot.
We had a kitchen remodel that required all new cabinets, countertop and backsplash and a baby in the way with a deadline of 60 days.
We began to price out the project beginning with custom cabinet providers which came in at about $ 18k for the woodwork. This was using particleboard so we ventured to compare with home depot and lowes which both came in at about $ 15k. We then went to Costco and their pricing was much more reasonable and had a design service as well which helped nail down some design aspects we had not thought through. The Costco pricing ended up at $ 10k so with that we ventured to source out our stone.
We were referenced to Sean at stone depot and when we approached him we found he would be a good source the cabinets as well and at a total cost of $ 6k!!! As a matter of fact we ended up sourcing all our kitchen features from Sean because he was so helpful and beat all pricing I managed to source including Internet prices. This included cabinets, countertops, backsplash and sink.
The cabinets and installation came in on time. Stone selection fabrication and installation completed as expected. And our kitchen came out beautifully.
I would only caution that we decided to take gone most of the integration work for the cabinets and sink and were not prepared for some aspects of that work.

We were eager to start redoing our kitchen piece by piece. When we got to new granite counters, I shopped around. Based on the pricing, service offered, and general impression I got from Stone and Cabinet Depot, we signed a contract. That was when the fun began. I should note that this is not the first granite countertop I’ve bought. In the DC area, we bought granite for a great price, and had a pain free templating and install process with literally zero complaints (Richstone Granite, Springfield, VA).
As background, we had a due date for our first baby. Our goal was to have this work done before the baby was born. This means, one of our evaluation criteria when selecting a contractor was ability to meet our timetable. Stone and Cabinet Depot did not come close to meeting their proposed schedule. In fact, the entire project showed a callous disrespect for my time, considering everytime they were supposed to show up to complete the job, I had to take off work. I would be told the day before that they would show up at 9, so I would take a morning off. I’d then get a no-​show until I call their office, and end up getting someone to show up at 11:30. For the counter demolition, not only were they late, they forgot to bring a hammer needed to complete the demo. I’ll repeat that, THEY DIDN’T BRING A HAMMER to a demo job. Instead of going back to the office to get it, they did what they could do and then said they’d just finish the next day. Great. Another day to take leave from work. The previous counters were tile/​concrete so the demolition of the countertops was messy with concrete rubble and dust. As a «professional» outfit, you’d expect that they’d then take a shop-​vac and clean up the rubble/​dust so that when new countertops are installed, all that rubble and dust doesn’t get mixed into the glue/​caulk, and just as a matter of respect for the shelving underneath the countertop, you don’t just leave all the rubble. They left all the dust and rubble. I had to vacuum it as best I could, but as I found, there are tons of nooks and crannies in the framing and found new dust and rubble for weeks after. I don’t think I’m crazy to expect this simple step to be done, since literally every other type of home improvement contractor makes clean-​up a priority. So mark that down, not on time a single time they showed up, and demo took 2 days instead of 1 because they forgot a hammer.
The countertop was supposed to be fabricated and brought over to be installed the next day. In fact, I was told it would be. I then put in for another day off work to wait for the install. Another no-​show at the agreed upon start. A call to the office reveals that they do not have the granite yet. Another day off work lost. The next day, I take off again to deal with them. I have to go into the office to look at two slabs they brought down. Yes, two slabs, not one. Our kitchen counter is not that big. It’s small in the grand scheme of things. Sitting in the yard, they have two dusty slabs sitting in the sun and they tell me this is what they got for the job. I look at it, it looks OK, but note that I’m not the granite professional. I’ve only really seen installed granite before. They assure me it will look good, I trust the professionals I contracted with. Finally, the next day, they say they will show up to do the install at 9 AM.
I take off another day of work. They do not show up at 9 AM. They show up at 11 AM. Par for the course. Very annoying. They actually have the granite. Great. Luckily, I already on a daily basis have been vacuuming the debris from the demo that has collected in my cabinets and they appear ready for the install. I let the guys do their thing, and around 5 PM, they finished, clearly ready to go. I was underwhelmed to say the least. Our kitchen has red walls, the granite was dark grayish. So they decided to caulk the backsplash with white caulk, which looked cartoonish. They also sloppily applied the caulk onto the wall, so there was a jagged edge of white caulk along the top edge of the backsplash. During the install process, they put two holes into the drywall accidentally and just left it there, thinking I wouldn’t notice. The damaged the wood cabinet next to our oven and just left it there. They did not seal our stainless cooktop with caulk to the countertop. They just left the cooktop floating on top of the countertop, leaving it for me to try and seal. Finally, the biggest problem. Those two separate slabs they used, they didn’t match. At all. They came back 2 more times to treat the granite with darkener, which improved it.
So for full price, we got terrible service, terrible schedule keeping, and subpar product. Look elsewhere.

My husband and I just purchased our first home together and needed to update the kitchen badly. After driving around and getting quotes from several cabinet places, Sean’s quote at Stone Depot was by far the best. After installation, there were a few things I picked on– crown molding was scratched up and slow close hinges took a few trips to install because they weren’t complete the first time. But Sean took note of each complaint I had and his installation guys dealt with them and did everything necessary. To be honest, that was the only downside, but Sean was awesome in taking care of it.

The guys at Stone Depot did my kitchen at the beginning of the year. I am totally stoked with it so I decided to have them do my master bathroom. I had some travertine but only about half of what would be necessary so Sean and Peter helped me find something that would go with it. Then they helped me find a place right down the street that had glass block for the shower wall which was very helpful. I did all the plumbing but have no experience with travertine much less putting it on a wall, but surprisingly enough, they offered to install that along with the glass block. I wasn’t expecting that as I thought they only did kitchens and bathroom cabinets. Needless to say, like my kitchen, I am completely happy. The work was finished within a week and the price was the lowest I found for the tile AND the install. If you are looking to upgrade/​remodel your house, I highly recommend talking to Peter and Sean first.

I needed 1400 square feet of Travertine stone pavers for my pool patio. I got quotes from several stores, but Stone and Cabinet Depot was about 20% lower than everyone else. The pavers were delivered from L.A. in just a couple of days and arrived in perfect condition.
Sean was very straight forward, no sales pitches or pressure to buy. Granted, the store is just a small warehouse with a sales counter and some tile displays… nothing fancy. But, the stone pavers I received are of high quality at a very competitive price and arrived on time in great condition. So, I am very satisfied and will shop there again.

I drove up here to Stone & Cabinet Depot based on all the reviews because I have been hitting serious roadblocks finding decent cabinetry that doesn’t cost a million dollars or sleazy salesmen.
I took a bit of time to check out the tile before someone was available to help me. I didn’t catch the name of the guy who spoke with me because he literally took his business card out of my hand. I wasn’t impressed with the showroom either, not much to look at really.
I had questions about the cabinetry, he couldn’t answer. He gave me a card and said they have a 60 day back log right now, and I said that probably won’t work for me. He literally snatched the business card back out of my hand, and walked away.
Just so you know, I literally had several thousands of dollars in cash on me, ready to buy new kitchen cabinets and tile. The rudeness of this person drove me right out the door to a different establishment (well, anywhere but here).

Unbelievable service, product, and installation. Sean helped me find a remnant that saved me a lot of money on Thursday, on Saturday Adam was at my house creating a template for the vanity countertop, and the product was installed by Sunday at 11:00 a.m. Workers were clean, vacuumed after themselves, and polite. I am very happy with the results and recommend these professionals.

I needed a full kitchen remodel so I had been getting crazy estimates from some of the places at the SD home show. They were all over 10K and most of them said the granite and kitchen cabinets would take about 2 weeks to finish which I thought was totally ridiculous. Home Depot and Lowe’s was the same thing. Don’t even bother with Cabinets-​To-​Go, their ads are totally misleading.
So I was really glad to have found Peter & Sean from Stone Depot which was close by to my house at the last minute. And since I know exactly what I wanted for cabinets their granite selection they had in their show room were all very good choices and something I would have chosen anyways so that part was easy. Stone Depot will have installers if you need them which I did end up using and they did their job in conjunction & coordinating with the granite installation which was a plus.
Stone Depot will have your slabs ready to go in 1 – 2 days right after your base cabinets are laid down and template. They will come back out and be done with the job in one day. I could NOT find any granite guys that could do that. I posted pictures of my kitchen so you can see the extent and quality of their work. We started on Mon 8am and I had a fully working beautiful kitchen by Friday 6pm. Not too shabby huh?
The total price of the granite & installation with an under mount sink + only the cabinets (not installed) = 5k. Then to have the cabinets installed and everything else done by Stone Depot’s reference,. total was $ 7600. That does not include the appliances. The Viking D3 range was 3k, Bosch $ 600, and Zephyr hood was $ 700 all from Pacific sales, the price includes FREE delivery and installation and I also got 18 mos 0% financing so that was nice.
