After six months of research and facing more spine surgery, I made the leap to add a sidecar to my Harley Ultra Classic. I picked a Liberty Sidecar and could either have it installed in Seattle or locally. Liberty Sidecars recommend Rix to do the install.
Several years ago, I was a regional rep for a major Harley aftermarket manufacturing company. I had been in nearly every shop and Harley dealership south of Ventura and from the ocean to the Arizona boarder. There were individuals that I would, and some that I wouldn’t, allow to work on my Harley.
One of my other vehicles is a 1953 Ford Panel Hotrod with custom flames done by the infamous Pete «Hotdog» Finlan. I’m sharing this info as I am very particular about the looks of my vehicles and who works on them.
After meeting with Rix and seeing his shop in person, I contracted with him to do the install of my sidecar. Shortly after dropping off my bike I entered the hospital for two major spinal surgeries.
Three days after returning home from the hospital, Rix showed up in my driveway and delivered my rig. It was the best therapy anyone could ever ask for. During the following weeks I would hobble out to the garage and just stand there with my walker and then crutches, marveling at the bike and sidecar.
As I recovered I got closer and closer to my rig to inspect the workmanship and quality of the install. It was impeccable. I could not find one thing out of place or improperly done. It was definitely a class act.
Once I was back riding, I found the stock handlebars were too much of a reach. Rix ordered half a dozen sets of bars just for me to try out. After the bars arrived we did an hour of fitting and testing to ensure the right bar and position was selected. Rix then locked them down so they wouldn’t move.
When I went to pick up the rig we once again did a «sit and feel» to make sure they felt right before taking the rig out for a test ride.
I’ve now ridden the bike several times and it’s the most comfortable feel and control of a bike then I’ve ever had.
I know some have indicated their service took time and may even have cost a little more. All I can say is good things are worth waiting for and quality comes with a price. I’d rather have it done right, than done by 5 PM. I found Rix’s prices to be competitive with most other shops.
As noted earlier, I’ve been around most of the shops and even if the price was cheaper and turn around faster, I simply would not let any of those individuals work on my bike.

I wouldn’t let him work on the Ultra after these encounters and I think he got the hint when I picked up all the spare parts waiting to be installed on the bike. A few days later he called and indicated he miscalculated the final bill after I picked up the V-​Rod and that I owe another $ 500. I didn’t argue with him since he was right about the miscalculation but I was irritated of course. A few weeks ago in early May he finally returned my V-​Rod manuals with a check for the Air shocks he sent back to Arnott for me.
I’ve spent over 15k in his shop and disappointing to write this review because I do think Rix means well. Rix has over 25 years of experience on a variety of bikes including Honda Gold Wings, Yamaha’s, Harley’s, Choppers, etc but since he’s his own shop, time management & customer service doesn’t seem to be a priority of his. Have I given you enough examples that it isn’t? I’d recommend Randy and his crew at Cycle Visions in San Diego for their competence, and expedience in service. Rix is not cheaper than dealerships, far from it, and if you’re looking to save money and time he isn’t your best bet for servicing your bike or Trike. Others may disagree but it’s my perspective.

It is now a year later from my last review of Rix at So Cal Trike Center.
After taking advise from others I decided to file a law suit against him. He threatened bankruptcy to try and stop me. I then informed him through my lawyer i would follow him through bankruptcy so he could not use that to get out of paying me for his bad deeds. He then attempted to draw this out for as long as possible until (I assume he realized I was not going away) yesterday when he sent me a check for an amount that i was sure prevented him from making a profit on the hell he put me through.
Don’t let a business bully or mistreat you. If you have been wronged and can prove it take them to court if they refuse to do the right thing.
