DONOT go to Zeb for coloring. Had the absolute worst experience. I came in to get my brown roots dyed blonde and left with my blonde length hair fried with bleach and my roots looking like some awful orange color AND the roots on the back of my head were still brown. He charged over $ 100 even though it was clear that my hair was three completely different colors. I didn’t even bother going back to get him to fix this absolutely awful dye because it was clear he didn’t know what he was doing after he fried my hair.

Every time I have gone to mink, be it a color, eyelash extensions or a cut it has always been absolutely amazing!!! Love the staff! They always remember me and we always have great conversation. Definitely best place to go to. I live in Austin and drive all the way to San Marcos for this place. You should too!

Over a year and a half since I first reviewed this place. While it can’t get any better than 5 stars, a review update will have to do! Corey is by far my most favorite hair stylist I’ve had in all the years and years I’ve been getting my hair done and I’m picky. Hair is very important! He has been doing my hair since a coworker recommended him shortly after they opened, and I won’t go anywhere else. I alternate between getting partial and full highlights. And in between my highlight appointments I throw in a haircut here and there. I’m very particular about my hair. I don’t want my highlights to look super unnatural, and I like to keep my hair long, but healthy. Corey is great at all of the above. The receptionist is always super friendly and every time I arrive I’m greeted with a glass of champagne(they also have beer, water and I think sodas too if you don’t feel like celebrating a good haircut with a glass of bubbly). I’ve seen this salon grow so much since I first started coming here. It used to be half the size and they offer so many more services now like lashes, nails, facials, massages, and makeup. It’s really a full-service salon now. And they’re obviously doing something right when they keep getting voted Best Salon in Hays County in the Texas State Daily Record newspaper year after year. Trust me you won’t regret coming here. Corey and his crew are amazing!

6 month update. I’ve had a haircut every month since my visit here. I STILL have damaged hair! Ever heard of a chemical haircut? Its when a «professional» over-processes your hair. Therefore, causing it to break and fall off. This is exactly what I received from Mink salon. When I scheduled my appt. I explained what I wanted(which was a complete color change). I said I wanted to ensure I was with someone very skilled. They set me up with Adrienne and stated she had been doing hair for 5 yrs and was one of their most talented. When I went in, I provided Adrienne with pictures of exactly what I wanted. I absolutely left no room for error in communication. I ended up with heavy highlights. What I asked for was to be a warm blonde. During the process, on several occasions, I stated that it appeared she was doing highlights. She assured me that she knew what she was doing and I chose to leave it alone and trust her. In the end, this was the kind of work you might get from someone still in beauty school. The salon has poor lighting at their stylist stations, so when I got in my car, I was able to see how elementary the work was. Had I not been late for another appt, I would have immediately gone back inside and had them fix it. Instead I chose to call and spoke with the manager. The manager stated that they require their stylists to fix their own errors. I explained that I was highly concerned about the talent that this particular stylist had. Again, the manager insisted that I returned to the original stylist. I then asked for a refund because I didn’t want something worse to happen to my hair. I explained I wanted to go somewhere else. The«manager» stated that their«policy» is that the stylist has to fix it. I didn’t want to be out $ 200, so I caved and went back. We scheduled an appointment for later that day and I returned for her to fix my hair. Upon walking back into the salon they seemed friendly. But once I sat down in the stylist chair, she was immediately rough and pulled my hair. Neither the manager nor owner(both there) came to check my hair. Adrienne«assessed» the error and applied additional bleach to my hair and stuck me under the dryer. I could tell that the dryer was set way too high. I actually reached over my head to lift it up off my hair because the heat was burning my scalp. Thank God that I did that or I probably would have no hair at all today. The stylist went outside to smoke and returned approximately 20 minutes later to check on my hair. When she took the foil off she exclaimed«wow, that high setting really works.» She took me to the sink and washed my hair out. I know that at this time she knew how badly damaged my hair was and chose not to tell me. We return to her stylist station and I could immediately tell that certain parts of my hair were a grey/platinum blonde and others were a variety of shades of yellow. I asked her not to style or blow dry my hair that I just wanted to leave. She insisted that I take a deep conditioning treatment with me. Obviously, because she knew the damage that had been done. The most frustrating part about this entire event was that I was forced to utilize the stylist again and that both the manager and owner(s) chose not to get involved. They should have stuck around to oversee this process. That evening when I got home and began washing my hair I noticed blonde chunks were falling out. I looked in the mirror and found that my hair was in a chemical-induced disarray. I immediately called and left a message on the answering machine at the salon and then took to Facebook to try to contact the owner. Once I finally spoke with the owner the following day, his first comment was that my complaint was«lengthy». Are you kidding me. I had soft, healthy hair before I entered your salon. Now my hair is fried, brittle and so damaged it won’t hold color. Im so sorry I inconvenienced you with a lengthy complaint. I had to demand a refund. The owner still tried to insist that I come in and allow him to fix it. I explained to him that I had already suggested that as an option, however, I was denied that and now my hair is ruined. I scheduled an appointment at another salon to fix this horrid mishap. Then, when I returned to Mink for my refund, he actually attempted to bash the stylist’s job on fixing my hair. Rediculous! Obviously, avoid this salon at all costs. ORITWILLENDUPCOSTINGYOU!

I went to Salon Mink in search of someone to do my bridal hair and makeup for my big day. My experience was a very friendly and accommodating one. The receptionist answered all of my questions and did everything she could to make sure my dates/times were worked into their schedules. They let me know what their standard pricing was for a bridal package(which even included a free makeup/hair trial run before my wedding). Both times, my hair and makeup took approximately 3 hours total to complete. Ray and Corey drove out to my venue to make me beautiful on my wedding day and it was nice to not have to worry about anything but sitting down and letting them work their magic. They were also helpful in keeping my mind off the ceremony while talking, making jokes and playing music while working. I felt at ease and was very happy with the final look. What else can a girl ask for on her special day? Keep up the great work Salon Mink! :)

A girlfriend and I decided to book pedicures at Mink as a pampering/de-stressing session. As soon as we arrived, they offered us Perrier so we were immediately charmed. Then, they took us into a tiny room in the back of the salon that was painted gray(with a few pink embellishments). We sat right next to each other on a small corner sofa which was very comfy. The girl who gave me my pedicure was named Adrienne and she did an awesome job. For $ 35, we got(as the website says) a soak, nail care, massage, exfoliation mask, aromatherapy wrap, and polish. Just thinking about it now makes me want to go back and get another one. And my toes look great! If they could update the space in the back, I would be even more excited about it. Sadly, it did have kind of a closet-y feel. Update your space, you guys! You deserve it!

I’ve been going here on and off for cuts. Alex did my cosplay haircut for a convention in October and it was spot on. Best Girl With the Dragon Tattoo haircut of all time.

Corey the best stylist in San Marcos? ABSOLUTELYNOT. They fired my favorite stylist there and I needed to get my roots done before a really important presentation. They made an appointment with Corey for me and I figured that since he was my new stylist… I told him that in the FUTURE I would like to have less ash and more white blonde hair. He completely misunderstood what I needed at this appointment and thought that if he left bleach on my roots with a STATIONARY heat panel over my head that I would get«brighter» I tried to tell him the history of my hair but he seemed uninterested and acted like he knew what he was doing. After putting bleach in my hair… he had a heat PANEL directed over the top of my hair in a stationary place. It was really hot and I was under it for a while. I felt really uncomfortable questioning anything… Afterwards when we got back from washing it out I noticed my roots were brighter than the rest of my head and he couldn’t even COMBTHROUGHMYROOTS. It was completely fried! He ruined the future health and longevity of my hair… now I’ll have to live with this mistake for the next couple years of my life. Take care of yourself and don’t let one of their stylists touch your hair.

This place sucks! I too had the worst experience here and left with orange hair! When I called to complain, the receptionist said I could come back and the owner could try to fix it, but I would have to pay since the operators aren’t employed by them, they just rent them their chairs! Every operator in there, has some kind of funky color hair or weird outfit on., so consider the source! I have to rate this with one star, since there is no other option, but would definitely rate it with a negative 5 stars.

This place is great! I had the best haircut I’ve ever had here and my boyfriend loves getting his hair cut here too. I just brought a picture of what I wanted and she gave me exactly what I wanted! And she didn’t take off more hair than I wanted, if anything It looked longer after she did my hair. I love the style of the salon and the five star service(ex. offered drinks while waiting). I definitely recommend this place!

I have been going to Rachelle for skin treatments and facial/body waxing for years. I love her. I had problem skin and now well I don’t! There was a time when I felt like I couldn’t leave my house because I was embarrassed. I don’t want to sound snobby or whatever, but now I’m often complimented on the youthfulness and radiance of my skin. The skincare line she uses is top notch. We have a grand olé time when ever I get waxed and I’ve never had any complications. My skin is sensitive and I wouldn’t trust it with anyone else. Yay Rachelle!

i went here on a whim and ended up getting 11 inches cut off(i know, sounds like irrational decision making!) but it ended up being a GREAT decision. alex, my hair stylist, worked magic on my long, dried out hair and turned it into a sleek and really cute short hair cut. She really is a great stylist! The salon is also big and airy, with lots of magazines and they offer you drinks when you come in. it was a great experience and i would recommend this place to anyone in SM!
