Ramada San Marcos

Bill at the front desk showed me amazing customer service when I checked in. His hospitality and helpful nature was quite refreshing and made the beginning of my stay here one I won’t forget! Would recommend anytime.

The customer service is excellent. Alex and Natalie was very courteous and polite. However I feel the Ramada Chain needs a serious upgrade! The maids work really hard to make sure the rooms are clean. — M. S

This place is overly disgusting. Room we stayed in smelled like pee. Mold in the bathroom. Bed and pillow are very uncomfortable. I don’t know if the sheets on the bed or the overly blanket have been washed but it stinks.
My sister in law and her husband found a worm on the foot of there bed the following morning. So basically they probably slept with it in there bed. I wouldn’t recommend staying here even if it is just overnight.

If I could give this place negative stars, I would. I travel all the time for work. I’m a simple guest, with simple needs. I don’t ask for much. Except competence and honesty.
I have a small dog I travel with. She’s a registered emotional support animal. When I checked in for Ramada my stay was scheduled for 4 nights. On Thursday when I checked in, I informed them of the dog. Gave them my paperwork. They gave me my keys. So on so on…
Everything was fine until Saturday, when I came back to the hotel later that evening after working, and found my dog outside of my room door. I came to find out from other guests, that she had been let out by one of the maids and had been running around outside for hours! I went to the on site manager, and instead of being shocked, empathetic, or apologetic, he gave me excuses about their systems being down, that they didn’t know there was a dog in the room, that I didn’t pay a pet fee… essentially he was trying to somehow make this partially my fault. I told him, the pet fee doesn’t apply to me. She’s a support animal. Second, why didn’t anyone notify me? Third, how do you not have record of my dog? Fourth… A million retaliatory questions entered my mind.
He told me to speak to the manager the next day.
The next day, I went in, and a girl (who was not the manager) was sitting in the lobby and I told her about what happened. She said the same thing to me that the night manager told me. «You should have been given a pet fee. That’s why it wasn’t in our system. Did you ask them to clean your room? They aren’t allowed in the room’s if a pet is present…»
Again, I rebutted with «SHES AN EMOTIONAL SUPPORT ANIMAL! A FEE IS ILLEGAL TO ISSUE TO ME. And why is it my fault that your maid entered the room if it’s your policy that she doesn’t when a pet is present? And why didn’t the person who checked me in make that note to begin with…»
More importantly, why am I made to be on the defensive? Why am I being placed in the position to argue and defend why this situation is so effed up. The hotel’s negligence could have lost me my dog and no one cares. They are more concerned with washing their hands of the problem.
She raised her voice at me and told me to wait for the manager later that day. I filed a complaint with corporate shortly after. They assured me I would hear from someone on the matter.
An hour later I go to the lobby again and FINALLY, a manager is present. I tell him the story, and he tells me that I shouldn’t have had the dog out. She should have been in a cage so the maid could enter. The maid is not allowed to enter when the dog is in the room… blah blah blah.
I said to him «I don’t see how any of this matters. Regardless if I request service or not, if you have this as a policy that the maid can’t enter the room if a dog is present, its your job to inform the guest. And it’s your job to inform your staff if an animal is in the room. And if an animal is in the room, its there job to follow the policy. Ultimately, I’m disturbed by your lack of concern and constant flippancy to somehow make this situation my fault. It’s yours. What are you going to do to make sure this never happens again?»
Finally, a half assed apology. I don’t believe for one second he was sorry.
I called corporate again and filed a complaint against him.
I also found out later from a neighboring guest, that her cat was let out the same day and they were chasing around the whole day her pet, as well as mine. She said she complained to the manager, and he did the same thing, deflecting any responsibility.
When I checked out two days later, I asked the manager about the cat. He told me he had no idea what I was talking about.
I was never offered anything for the stress I endured or the dissatisfaction I encountered. I still haven’t heard from corporate.
So this is my official review:
The staff could care less about you and your pets. They probably won’t care about your children. They don’t care whether your satisfied or miserable. They don’t care. You give them money. They give you a bed. And they see that as square. From now on, I’m strictly airbnb.

This is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. No refunds is a red flag! The room was so dirty I had to go buy spray bleach to clean the bathroom floor there was makeup and toilet paper and hair on it wiped it and the rag was black. The beds had sand rocks or dirt with dog hair. The house keepers roll there carts every morning at 7am super loud kids running around didn’t get to sleep a single night price was cheap and now I know why! As far as the area there are things close by shopping and restaurants. Will never in my life stay at a ramada in or use

As a single woman, I prefer to stay where I feel safe when I am on vacation. I do here.
My room has always been very clean when I check in. I’ve stayed here at least 20 times (visits lasting from 3 to 5 days).
Tips for other guests that might stay here:
1. The restaurant onsite is fantastic.
2. The Ralph’s grocery store on Twin Oaks is just a few minutes away. After you check in, scope out the fridge in your room, then pick up a few things that might make you stay less expensive. Oh, and though it is a few miles further away, there’s an Albertson’s as well.
3. If you forget something, there is a market there as well. Although, the time I forgot my toothbrush and toothpaste, I got them at Ralph’s.
Anyway, I would recommend this place to anyone. It is inexpensive, well maintained, and where I plan to go for my next few days off. (Oh, and I already have made the reservation).

Not a bad stay for 3 days & 2 nights. It’s located in a decent area with lots of fast food options including a Drive-​Thru Starbucks right across the street and a nice Mexican restaurant adjacent to the hotel. We were visiting Legoland which was a smooth 20 minute drive.
On arrival, we checked in pretty quickly considering there was only one person at the desk and a long line of guests. We were put on the other side of the hotel accommodating our requests. Parking was not an issue as there were plenty of spaces in the back. Even at night, it wasn’t filled up (This was on a summer weekend in July) Upon entering the room it was stuffy and had the funk of cigarettes. It didn’t bother us much as we just cranked up the AC and opened the door for a little bit. Maybe some air freshener during housekeeping? The only confusion I had was the WIFI since it wasn’t written anywhere (unless I’m blind), but a quick call to Front Desk cleared it up. The room came with two full beds, a desk, mini fridge, microwave, and a safe which wasn’t working? The bathroom had little space for toiletries especially for a family, but we managed.
My only complaint was the bathroom light kept turning on at night. Every 15 – 20 minutes after turning it off, it would turn back on. I eventually just closed the door, but it wasn’t worth a call to the front. For only two nights, I could easily manage. If this was for an extended stay, I would have called since it could be frustrating getting up and turning off the light.
Everything else was good! The pool was nice, there was an ice machine close by as well as Laundry. The breakfast was continental and not really something to complain about as I’ve seen in other reviews. If you don’t like it, there is a McDonalds across the street. Overall, I wouldn’t mind staying here again for the price. Thank you Ramada for a goodnight stay! :)

We have stayed here twice and I wish I had not booked again as the first time was not the greatest! The rooms were disgusting, old, dirty, smelly and just not nice. I guess the old saying «you get what you pay for» really comes into play for this place. The first trip we had our entire family with us 3 kids and my husband and I and the second trip it was just my husband and I. The room they gave us was in the back of the building in an alley. The room was so small we couldn’t even put our suitcases down. Ladies-​if you want counter space DON“T come here. I had to put my makeup, hair brush etc on the toilet seat and the back of the toiled because there was NO counter to put anything on. Barely the toothbrushes fit on the sink. The TV didn’t work when we arrived and then the power went out. The breakfast was awful, if you want to carb load then it is perfect for you. Old fruit and no protein what so ever! The coffee cups were a «shot» of coffee, literally, no exaggeration! I drank it in one gulp. The pool is right next to the road so if you enjoy going in while listening to the cars and smelling exhaust by all means go right ahead! I wouldn’t put my dog in that pool it was disgusting. Lesson learned, they got me twice but not the 3^rd time. You have been warned.

Don’t stay here. Management does little to nothing to make sure the parking lots are safe and well lit. And don’t get me started on the lack of care of their guests comfort. Although the highway is less than 20 feet away from the facility it never seemed a bother as compared to the loud Kids running thru the halls. The walls are so thin it feels like a school yard was right in the room with us. When complained about the noise level to the managers on staff there seemed to be a lack of effort and true understanding of the need for their guest’s rest for the coming day. Be it a day at the amusement park or the California State Games for your family and competing child. The only two good notes about the joint is that it’s close to a lot of eateries and the linen was decent. Again don’t stay here. Been here only 2hours and it sucks horribly.

I really enjoyed my stay here, it’s off to the side a bit so if you’re using public transportation it can get really tricky but if you have your own car no reason not to come by and save a few bucks versus the other local places.
Right next to a huge epicenter of awesome fast food and find dining restaurants so its definitely a quintessentially beautiful San Marco’s location.
Awesome staff, good size and clean rooms, no gang traffic, drug dealers, or blatant prostitution.

This is not a great place to stay. Wish they had ZERO as a score. About 1:30 am all you could hear was someone walking very heavy on the floor above. Later all you heard was someone’s dog barking. About 3 am had to turn off AC because someone decided to some marajuna out side my room. It smelled like the we’re inside smoking which woke me up. If I could give less than 1 star I Would. The apathy displayed by the clerk was pothedic and lame. They gave the impression of ‘like I should care because’. This was more like a motel run by looser than a ramada. Am breakfast looked good room was clean. I Couldn’t get the heater to work. Then as I was getting ready to leave to guys started fighting in the parking lot. I guess a lovers quarrel.

In town for a wedding and needed an early check-​in desperately. With check-​in around 3pm, I was needed at venue at 2pm giving us nowhere to get ready besides in a parking lot out of the car.
Called front desk and spoke to Alex. Not only did he hook it up with an early check in, but he did it with a smile and sincerity.
Room was perfect. Clean and simple.

Check in was easy enough. Was getting to San Marcos late after a 5 hour drive so was tired and didn’t care anymore. Hampton Inn was full so called this place’s phone service for availability. One room left, made reservation and headed over. Outside lobby, noticed how sketchy the area was when I saw the front door locked for «security.» Receptionist was nice. Headed to room and found a dark, damp hallway with chipped paint and musky stink to the place. Was expecting some pimps and prostitutes to jump out of the rooms at any time. I arrive at the room and the light automatically turn on. I thought it was a bit strange to have that system. Tried to take a nice hot relaxing bath but the tub didn’t work. Took a shower and got ready for bed. The walls are thin and could hear everybody around. The room window leads to the parking lot so could hear all the cars as well. Later on that night the automatic lights turned on as I was finally falling asleep. Also had to fix the toilet that was constantly leaking and noisy. Not the most restful night I’ve spent at a hotel. I would definetely recommend avoiding this place unless you have absolutely no other choice. Think I might skip their complimentary breakfast.

It was okay. I’m pretty sure I reserved a room with a king bed. The bed had to be a full size bed. Very small. Cheap rate so you get what you paid for. It served its purpose as all I needed for the night was a bed.

I would never come here again. I wish Unilocal would let me give ZERO stars.
Rooms are dark and stuffy. The atmosphere just screams «dusty and old.» The tile flooring in the bathroom is dirty. The AC units make a loud sound when you turn them on. There is also a handful of sketchy characters that you will encounter at this hotel. The building is just worn down and the rooms are not well-​maintained…
The only upside? The motel is right off the 76 freeway and on the same street as a lot of stores and restaurants. Phil’s BBQ, Mama Kat’s, and Slater’s ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ are just down the road.
If you ever have to settle for this place, my advice? Spend as little time as possible in your room.

Don’t waste your $$. We checked in late at night and hotel was sketchy. I didn’t feel safe walking through the parking lot to the lobby!
Room was very disappointing. Very dinky. Carpets were filthy and we ended up with the last room available and of course it was a smoking room so as soon as we entered our noses were hit with the smell! Very gross! The sheets were dirty and had cigarette burns. we had our baby with us and I did NOT feel comfortable letting him crawl around!
Usually when we rent a hotel we like to stay until check out time… this time we were rushing to get out!!!

Crack house hotel. Not one channel works. The guy next door was selling meth. It was scary cops everywhere. Cops actually filming a show. It was on amd crackin. Dude nuts do not stay here. Scando dirty hotel

I stayed at this Ramada for one night with my boyfriend, and all I can say to this place is «wow»… And that’s not a good «wow», either. ‘
«You get what you pay for» has never applied to anything better.
Upon arriving, we were unsure where the lobby was located in relation to the parking lot. We walked around for a while and eventually found the door on the side of the building that had a sign for «lobby» over it. The front desk was dingy to say the least. I felt like I was looking down to the poor gal who was working the desk that night.
Our room was on the second floor & we had to walk up a wobbly stairway to get to it. The hallway was very «The Shining”-esque, and honestly kind of creepy & sketchy. I didn’t feel comfortable leaving the room after dark– especially since place is directly off the freeway & in «not as friendly» part of San Marcos…
Yes, you do get a bed, shower, tv, microwave & mini fridge, but at what cost?
I keep reading about how awful the carpets were (in other peoples reviews)– and at the time of staying here, I thought it was just me. My feet were black with dirt? and as I went to the shower to rinse them off– I discovered a coat of grime on the shower floor and walls. Pretty gross. I will admit the toilet was impressively clean (yes, I lifted the seat, too).
Now lets discuss the bed… Disgusting. We lifted the comforter to find stains from who knows what on the sheets directly underneath. The pillows had drool (?) stains on them, too. In hopes for the sheets under those, we found the mattress… Which was also stained… I was so appalled that I flipped the comforter over, and put a towels over that to sleep on… The pillows as well.
If you’re desperate– this is a roof over your head.
If you have a few extra bucks to spend on another place– DO IT.

Stayed here a few days due to tenting of my apartment building and that they had a deal set up with our complex. $ 45/​night and $ 25 for my dog. Not terrible — when staying in a hotel I expect what I pay for and for that price I did not expect much of anything.
The carpets are disgusting, they really need a steam clean at the very least if not to be complete replaced. The beds are comfortable but the sheets are not clean, gross. Kept finding long black hairs everywhere; in the bed, bathroom, etc. The bathroom is dingy, the shower especially. Instead of having the staff service my room I opted to just make the bed myself, since they dont provide clean sheets each day, and I didnt really use them any ways.
There are a lot of people coming and going throughout the day and night. The highway is directly beside and you can hear everything, the walls are thin. There are cops sitting in the parking lot — normally this would make me feel safer, but not here, it is like they are waiting for someone.
The staff is very friendly, which is great, but it doesnt make up for the whole place needing to be renovated.
