A sandwich placed named after the potbelly stove is which they started their cooking. The staff are pleasant and the food is good and super cheap. I gave it 5 star because while the food isn’t all that the price vs the flavor cannot be beat.

Price is certainly right! Was tipped to try the mushroom melt, which I got on flatbread. When I was asked if I wanted mayo, mustard, or hot peppers, I said yes. He looked at me as if it was a trick question I hadn’t understood before complying, but what?! All those things are great! While in line I grabbed a serving of potato salad(there were also cole slaw and something else I’ve forgotten on offer in the fridge) and a bag of Zapp’s salt & vinegar chips. The potato salad with its delicate thin slices and mild base reminded me of many 4ths of July as a child – if it had included more onion I would have sworn one of my Midwestern aunties made it. Chips were rather like Miss Vickie’s kettle chips, which I enjoy. Place looked clean and comfy and all the employees were friendly and professional. If it were warmer I’d take advantage of the porch seating. Next time I order this sammie I’ll skip the peppers or ask them to go easy on the mayo/mustard bottles. It was happily spicy but a little juicier than I anticipated, and I don’t think the shrooms were sautéed. But all this for less than EIGHT bucks? Tell me to shut up and enjoy my meal because that’s what I would do to anyone else, and you know I’m coming back to try out half the rest of the menu.

Now, I’m being a bit biased since I go here so often, they know me by name. BUT… this place is the best. Amazing sandwiches, friendly staff and the owner is a really cool guy!

Pretty good sandwiches, beats the crap out of Subway! The dreambars live up to their names.

I ate a tasty turkey sandwich and a warm(very warm) broccoli cheddar soup on a rainy day! It was better than I expected, I will definitely be coming back! The workers there were SUPERDUPERNICE and didn’t make us feel weird about us asking so many questions since it was my friend and I’s first time ever eating at a Potbelly.

I mean it’s a sandwich place. For me, a sandwich place has to be pretty darn amaze balls for it to blow me away. But et me say the quality, the toppings, selection of sandwiches, and clean interior make it an easy four stars. I got the skinny beef sandwich with hot peppers on top of ww bread. The bread was perfectly toasted and the meat was great. I would definitely go back. It’s as cheap as some of the other spots around town, the people were really great, and the place stayed relatively quiet even through the lunch rush. A tip? Try the oatmeal chocolate chip cookie – moist & soft in the middle, as I soon will be if I eat many more of these!

The place was clean, and the employees were very helpful. However, the sandwhiches are just not good. The bread is the kind that’s made in a factory and trucked in, and run thru the toaster. My smoked ham was sooo salty! With alvin ords 2 blocks away I think I’ll skip potbelly next time.

Trying to get a sandwich at this place you better be ready for them either not to be delivering«that day» or just not be open even when the door says they are open till 10pm.

As a younger person, I would hit up Potbelly on the guad near UT Austin when I. Now slightly older(not really el oh el!!) and living in San Marcos, I’m ecstatic that they’ve built one so close to campus! They decorated the interior with pictures of LBJ, paying homage to the presidential alumni that graduated from TXST. It’s hard to say what’s REALLYGOOD on their menu. MOSTOFTHEIRMENUISPRETYGOOD, but I only say«most» because I haven’t had the chance, and money, to try everything. I would recommend coming here if you love sandwiches and want something different from your usual subway, blimpie or crappy Texas State food. I’m not looking for less calories in my food, but their mushroom melt from their«skinny menu» is delicious! It’s definitely a try if you want something vegetarian that isn’t just lettuce and bread. The sandwich pairs great with their soup options(not all their soups are vegetarian, keep that in mind). So yeah! It’s a chain, but whatever! Give this place a try. :)

I LOVE this place. Finally a place that toasts subs in San Marcos other than Subway. For all you San Martians, the bread is similar to Alvin Ord’s but in a sub form. Unique menu and all very tasty. I would say that there desserts are also hard to pass up. Soft and gooey is my hardest temptation.
