A Colorful Universe

Hosted my friend’s bachelorette party here. They were super understanding when our party was a bit late due to logistics. Our paintings came out great thanks to the excellent instruction, and everyone had a blast.

My kid and her friends created beautiful pieces for her birthday. Something to remember for a long time.
Please be sure to come at least half and hour early before your appointment to allow time to choose your plates or ornaments.

I’ve been here before and had a fantastic experience and would never complain about a certain thing at A Colorful Universe. But, I took my kids to a painting class and the teacher was extremely intoxicated and smelled like alcohol. She came off very blunt and aggressive towards me. I almost didn’t want to leave my kids with her. Very disappointed!

Very expensive and unpredictable. After my third visit, the pieces created had to go back in the kiln because of a missed paint spot. I would have been happier had they called me to let me know-​at least to save me a 30 minute drive. Also disappointing is that it should’ve been checked out by an employee before it went into the kiln-​ugh, so disappointed .As is the 5 year old who won’t be able to give his mom the mug he painted for her for her birthday on time.

Love it here they even posted my art on their Facebook page. Wish they had snacks hahaha art takes a lot out of you.

We held my daughter’s 7^th birthday here and it was great! The party assistant Melina was fun and engaged the kids the whole time! Parents who attended the event also had a nice time. I will definitely return for another event here!

Had a great time here yesterday with my niece. The staff was attentive and helpful. It’s a bit pricey but a great way to spend the afternoon. Looking forward to picking up our pieces later today. So glad to have a place like this in SEH!

From the very first time I made contact with A Colorful Universe the staff was very helpful and friendly. Athena helped me over the phone answered all my questions, she helped me book a birthday party. Tonight we celebrated a birthday party and Ariel was our host for a canvas and wine night, let me say Ariel was very patient and helpful. It was 8 of us ladies drinking and attempting to, she answered all our questions and slowed down when needed. She didn’t rush us or make us feel like we were being timed. We will definitely be back and I will recommend this place to everyone. We all left there very happy.

We had such a great experience here! The staff is very friendly and helpful. I loved the environment. I met the owner and she truly cared about our experience being a great one. My daughter loved it and is already asking to go back. I highly recommend whether you want to take your kiddos or go to have a fun time with your friends.

The people who work here are very helpful! They offered to help me paint my 1 year old’s hand and even had a high chair for her to sit in while i added details to the Father’s Day cup I made. The prices are a little high but the selection of ceramics is large and there are stencils and binders of ideas to get your creative thoughts flowing!

I just went here yesterday and I loved it. I went with a group of four and it was Saturday, so there was a kid’s birthday party when we first arrived. They were a little rambunctious but they were told to stay in a certain area.
There was a big selection of glazes and technique tools. I chose something that just needed to be filled in so it would be a little easier. We ended up spending two and a half hours there and it was nice.
However, the pieces are a little expensive unless you get a small tile or plate.

Before I came here I thought all ceramics painting studios were basically the same. I happened upon this one because I was looking for ceramic Easter eggs for my kids to paint and our usual studio didn’t have any. Wow! This place was so much better. Super friendly staff. I dealt with three different staff members, all of whom were extremely helpful and friendly. Very casual, easy atmosphere. They showed us all the tools and supplies and let us have at it, but were available to help or show techniques if we wanted. This studio is a little out of my way, but I wouldn’t go anywhere else again.

I am a mom of two young girls and always looking for something fun to do with them. I love bring them here and letting them have fun and be creative. The staff is aways so helpful and attentive to my girls. I know that I can always trust my girls are going to have fun, and that I am in good hands when I walk in!!! Awesome find. A friend reserved the studio for a mid-​sized birthday gathering. We each got to choose any ceramic under $ 20 (designated with a star) to design and paint. Each member of our party ended choosing different ceramic pieces and painting unique designs! For best results, I advise doing some prior research on Pinterest to find swoon-​worthy designs to imitate. Wish we had gotten more prior direction, as we found out after we had stenciled our designs that it’s better to draw on a piece of tissue paper and then transfer the design using Sharpie after painting our base coat. Otherwise, it was a really fun and engaging night! Everyone had fun. Will definitely do it again, but first I need to let my arms rest. After a two-​hour painting sesh, my arms felt more sore than after arm day!
Also, our party was incredibly appreciative of the accommodating, patient, and friendly customer service. Thanks for staying late and accommodating our entire party of perfectionists with such professionalism and politeness!

The best ceramics place in the area! The supplies are high quality, the choices are numerous, and the atmosphere is fun and welcoming. I must say that the Pandora station named «French Café» is my favorite, with wondrous tunes that remind you of old France. Additionally, the staff if very helpful and nice especially the employee by the name of CJ. He is such a nice young man who is always on hand and helps all the kids. In fact, I would recommend trying to stop by there only if CJ is working there. Also, don’t worry about asking him too many questions; he has the patience and wisdom of an elephant.

This is a great addition to the San Marcos area. I bought a ‘ladies night’ groupon a few months ago and used it tonight. They have ladies night every Thursday from 6−9/. It’s BYOB, but they did provide wine glasses, and some cheesy bread from the pizza place down the street. They encourage you to bring your own food, which we did.
The workers there were friendly and helpful. I don’t remember their names but they did show us where everything was, all the tools, showed us designs and told us to let them know if we wanted a demonstration. They came around and offered us water.
I wish there was a larger selection for the ‘ladies night’, but they did mention they rotate the pieces.
You paint, they fire it, and then you pick it up a few days later. Simple and fun.

A Colorful Universe is a perfect fit to the San Elijo Hills community. The shop was clean, welcoming and the staff are helpful.
I bought a few groupons to treat my kids and nieces. It was our first time there but the young lady that helped us was very sweet and accommodating. I had 5 kids, all under 7 years of age, with me. She kept her cool, helped them, and answered all their questions.
The kids and I had a blast!
