Best donuts in town, no need for gimmicks or weird combinations… Just really good fresh donuts. Went in at around 12am and the man working was really nice and gave us fresh donuts from the back, they also serve the best Thai tea in town.

This place actually carries jelly donuts! And I have to say that the glazed donuts are tastier than SLOco. Ever since the Latino dude left the donuts look beat up though. The guy needs to take a pottery class or something. Lol

Came thru here around 1130 pm on our drive up the coast and had some amazing fresh cake donuts, the powder sugar was my favorite, second cinnamon sug. The devils food was a little too sweet for me but the donuts were great, melted in my mouth. Small interior, and yes it’s open 24⁄7

Cake donuts — so, so. But the buttermilk. are so so good. I can’t stop eating these. Maple is pretty good too. Plus open 24/7, makes for a great late night stop.

LOVE this place! This place is so available all the time, you feel like you can always be in this place any time, whatever you’re doing. Sarath the owner is so spirited. Woooooo! There is a good variety and they’re just fresh homemade. I love the lemon powdered donuts. Scrumptious: P

Great variety of donuts anytime of the time, excellent service too! Feel bad for this cute donut shop where those 4 girls recently punked the employees purse and stole cash from the store… Judging by their appearance on the news, I’m surprised they didn’t steal all the donuts as well!!!

I wish I could give this place zero stars. The woman packaging out donuts sneezed repeatedly, wiped her hands on herself, and continued to pack up what we selected. I felt bad just walking out so I paid for what I ordered, then threw it in the trash. I wish I would’ve just said never mind and walked out. Completely disgusted with this place. I think it goes without saying I won’t ever be going back!

This place sucks, no bakers dozen, we found cockroaches in between the napkins. I would look somewhere else for your sugar fix

Mmmm. I love this place. I think they are so much better than SloDoCo, maybe I’m just a traditionalist. The donuts are always fresh with a great variety. No matter what kind I’m craving they have one waiting. Hehe. At my work we have one guy who ALWAYS brings those.other. donuts to our meetings at work. I have resigned myself to always bring a dozen of Sunshine Donuts to the meetings as competition.(They always get eaten first). Plus, I always snag the extra they throw in for myself as a little secret, nobody has to know I had one on the way TO the meeting also. Keep doing what you’re doing guys… The trendy stuff never lasts. :D

My favorite donut shop in SLO(yes, more so than SLODoCo, especially when you want your basic donuts)! This place brings back good college memories. :) It’s open 24⁄7. There are delicious, fresh donuts. What else do you need to know? I did notice that they didn’t have Thai Tea on the menu when I came back recently! That was one of my favorite items on their menu, it was so cheap and delicious! Bring back the old favorite!

It’s no secret that everyone compares Sunshine and SLODoCo all the time. If you like basic donuts, Sunshine’s are way better. If you like the fancy, designer, filling kind of donuts, you’re better off stopping by SLODoCo. However, SLODoCo also has more customers so there’s a higher turnover rate of donuts. If you walk in at any given moment, both donut shops have issues. 01. Sunshine has a lower turnover rate, so the donuts you get might be cold and not super fresh. When they are fresh, they’re BOMB. Honey Dip, orange cake, and blueberry are the best. 02. SLODoCo, because they’re so much more frequented, will probably just be out of donuts and you’ll get last pickings. People swoon over Sunshine Donut’s milk, but I don’t get it. It’s just milk. Given, it’s cold, but I mean it’s 2014. I’m pretty sure everyone has a decent fridge by now. Also, because of their«glorious milk,» if you order Thai Tea, it’s really rich and creamy. Sunshine’s Thai Tea is definitely more consistent than SLODoCo’s. It’s kind of annoying though ’cause there’s a $.25 surcharge on card transactions under $ 10. To put that in perspective, a dozen donuts cost me $ 9.

Good prices and open 24h. What more can you ask for? Good(run of the mill) doughnuts and good Thai tea. Was at Sunshine at 3am and everything was fresh! Would come again.

After frequenting SLODoCo for many years, I ventured to Sunshine Donuts to try the competition. Not only were the donuts I had fresher than SLODoCo(at 8pm at night too!) but they were quite a bit cheaper. I will definitely be coming back to Sunshine Donuts quite often!

I hate giving bad reviews to places that seem so well-loved, but Sunshine was not well-loved by me. Now, at every donut store I’ve been to, the cashier is always so friendly, like they love their job, you know? But this guy seemed so grumpy and irritated and was rushing me and my friends to order and was careless with getting the donuts and our drinks.(He dropped a donut hole and almost spilled one of our drinks.) He was in such a rush! He didn’t try to make conversation and just charged us and left to go to the back. My friend wasn’t done ordering and she had to go fetch him. Maybe he was stressed? Having a bad day? Either way, you have to put on a smile for your customers to keep your service in great shape, as my mom likes to say. As for my order: My donut holes were stale-y, so that was a disappointment. Like, I’m not sure who to blame, me or him? I think it might be both our faults but either way, it added on to my dissatisfaction. And the thai tea didn’t have a nice blend of tastes, however I will admit that I find it tastier than SLODOCO’s. so good job on that part. I’ll think about giving these guys another chance but until then, this is my stand point.

Long-standing donut shop in SLO with many donut classics along with a few trendy specialty donuts, including the maple bacon donut, triple chocolate, honey dipped and apple sauce donuts. If you prefer your donuts a little more spartan, chose from a wonderful array of old fashioned, glazed, French crullers, crumb donuts and fruit-filled donuts. Sunshine Donuts is open 24 hours and their sweet treats have been the perfect antidote for many late-night toiling college students. Donuts are made fresh throughout the day, but do plan on an early arrival to stake your claim. I love their maple bars and raspberry-filled(jelly) donuts. Up next, the popular maple bacon-flecked donut… with a handful of donut holes :-) In today’s fiscal uncertainty, these low-priced pillowy and moist donuts are the perfect feel-good reliable American treat.

LOVETHESEDONUTS!!! The French donuts are the bomb and are one of the reasons I will always go to Sunshine over Slo Do Co if given the choice! I always get one in every flavor and pair it with one of their Thai Iced teas. Always hits the spot! Also, if I get a dozen or so donuts, the people working there always give me at least two more donuts for free. And who doesn’t love freebies? :P

OK, so have I stepped foot in the same donut shop? With all these 5 star reviews, I am starting to think they are mostly family/friends! — Negative ALLSTARS!!! I came in around 12pm after having after pumping gas next door, and the lady that worked here was NOT friendly, I stepped in craving something sweet, soft, and chocolatey! I bought a chocolate twist, and decided to get a a ham and cheese croissant. FIRSTOFF, their chocolate twist had one of those small insects stuck beneath the chocolate!!! WTF! and the H&C croissant tasted super old. like 3 days old, i KNOW b/c I usually save my H&C croissants and I know how they taste when they are FRESH, compared to when they have been stored. I told her I did not want it heated b/c I usually heat it up at home when I am ready to eat it. so On my way home I decide to take a bite and it was stale, stiff ANDOLD!!! No wonder why she wanted to warm it up for me!!! I WILLNEVEREVERSTEPFOOTBACKHEREAGAIN!!! I would have gone to get my $ back, but at that point that bug freaked me out, I tossed it IMMEDIATELY!

I guess I’m going against the current here, considering all the glowing reviews. I stopped at Sunrise Donuts(first time there) at about 5:00 a.m. And purchased three dozen donuts for my employees, because we had a special job this morning. The price was reasonable(about $ 27 total) and I thought the jelly donut I had was wonderful. It was fresh, large and delicious. So why only 3 stars? Rude service. I walked in and was the only customer. A few seconds later a woman came out from a back room. She was wearing a headset, and apparently was having a personal conversation the entire time I was there. I didn’t realize it at first, but my greeting went unanswered and she just stared at me. I said I’d like to get 3 doz donuts, she nodded and held up three fingers. I tried giving some general requests(you know, «please mix them up, one dozen filled, the rest this, this, that…). She sort of nodded, but kept talking into her headset. So I’ll try it again, but I will hope to catch the staff when they have some time to spare for a customer. Update– I went back a second time, with my wife. Same exact service, same employee(owner?) talking on her headset the whole time, not talking to us. Maybe it’s timing… Both visits were around 5:00 a.m.

This 24-hour donut shop is totally legit and super smart. After parties at like 2−3am, who doesn’t want to eat something sweet like a delicious donut? I don’t really know the difference between a really good donut or a bad one, but the convenience of this place already gets me close to 5 stars. To me, their donuts taste delicious. Go earlier in the day to see the most of their selection. I must say that although they’re open late at night, they may not have your favorite flavors(but they usually have the most common ones still available.) Not to mention this is the only donut shop I’ve heard of that serves Thai Ice Tea as well(for really cheap, by the way). I recommend you try Thai Ice Tea with a donut if you haven’t already! Also, the last time I went with my boyfriend, we ordered 5 donuts(we were feeling like fatties) and the employee gave us a free one! Double yum! Can’t get much better than that!
