Miner’s Ace Hardware

I can’t recommend this Ace enough. Their staff are some of the most professional and knowledgeable folks around and will happily give you advice on everything from sprinkler systems to outdoor landscaping. Plus, with every problem we bring to them, my husband and I always feel like they’re truly listening to our needs (no matter how crazy and random they are!) and then giving us all our options — even if some of them they don’t personally sell in the store. It’s been that service that’s made us come back again and again. That, and the fact that they seem to have EVERYTHING you’d ever need artfully packed into every nook and cranny of this delightful little store! Definitely a 5-​star spot.

What a pleasant shopping experience! The layout of the store is so comfortable and easy to use. The staff was incredibly kind, helpful, and pleasant. The selection of goods and plants is stellar. I highly recommend this Miners/​Ace for everyday stuff. We adopted some plants from there today so I can’t wait to see how they grow!

Excellent staff very knowledgable and friendly. Help is there from the simplest to the oddest projects you might have! From the nursery to the tools and materials it’s all well stocked. I highly recommend it.

What a nice breath of fresh air, literally and figuratively.
Every single employee asked me if I needed help, each and every one was clearly not just paying lip service to the offer.
All of them were over 24 and clearly this wasn’t their first job out of high school.
There was an unhurried, easy going, take it easy jive going on amongst the other customers, unlike Home Depot, where I feel like I’m always in some hurried persons way.
All were helpful, some humorous,
I thought I’d be forced to go to the BIG hardware store in town, nope, got all I needed, and got help loading my car without asking.
So, in short.
Don’t go here, I don’t want this jewel to be discovered, and get crowded.

If you need anything hardware or home related in SLO this is this place to shop. They have the most amazing inventory, way to much to describe in this review, but just to say I have never left without finding what I was looking for. To top it all off, the staff is helpful, knowledgeable, friendly and plentiful. There is always somebody close by to help you out. Forget the big box store, shop here for the service and selection!

I love this place. Pretty sure it’s the layout, staff and pricing. I’ve never once had a bad encounter with a staff member, they are all super friendly and no matter what random project you’re working on, someone there can explain it and tell you the tools you will need. There’s a total plant nerd that works there (and I mean that as the highest compliment) and she can tell you anything about any plant anywhere, and what care to give them — plus free popcorn, it’s just the greatest hardware store ever!

As far as hardware stores go this is a winner. Withe all the supplies, tools, parts and more that a home fixer upper kinda guy could want. We were looking for new levels (the tools) and they had a nice selection and a lovely group of three (a torpedo, 16 incher and 4 foot) all in one package at a reasonable price. There seem to be happy people ready to engage you and really help find what ever you want. One can’t help but notice the extensive plant and garden goodies selection, the free popcorn, and all the you could want at checkout. Well it is there. What did you need?

I love Miner’s. They are super helpful, and it is never hard to find an employee. The whole staff is really friendly. I prefer Miner’s over Home Depot. Great garden section.

Miners, right down the road from where I live now so it is convenient, decent selection of hardware, and nice nursery. Just got back from Miners, it wasn’t that busy, usual Sunday, got asked if I needed help about 6 times, which is usual here, they want to make sure you can find what your looking for, but it gets annoying after a while, and as usual, it takes forever to checkout here.
Saw TONS of workers here, and If I needed help finding something, no problem, but a huge line to checkout and 1 person working the registers, pretty big fail of both logic, and customer service. This happens every time I’m here too. Plus, most of the time, they are substantially higher priced than Home Depot. Love home depot self checkout, I don’t have to wait to checkout with my 1 item while some lady with 15 plants and other odds and ends takes 15 minutes to checkout by the only checker.

This a great Miners. They are very organized, the staff was very helpful, and they have one of the largest nurseries I’ve seen at a Miners. Went there today to pick out a few plants and the clearance section actually had a lot of great choices with everything being 50% off. The nursery is also very nicely labeled so you can easily find any type of plant you are looking for.

ok so there are a few guys at home depot who are great.
but when your truly stuck or need the job done with no hassels show up to miners.
I worked all day on a water line issue going to home depot a couple times.
but I called miners and the guy hooked me up first visit.
I go there not only for products but for help

Maybe they have taken a page out of the Cal Poly Book… Simply the Best! Great nursery, healthy plants, lots of variety and knowledgeable staff. Quick to offer help whether it’s locating an item or loading your car. Check-​out is quick and easy.

This place far exceeds Home Depot in every aspect, especially customer service and their employees. At Home Depot you get every derelict and low life working there who have absolutely NO clue what they are doing.
At Ace you get clean, professional, intelligent employees who go out of their way to help you and have actual knowledge of what their products are about. Two employees who work in the garden area and the paint area are over and above nice, friendly and helpful. I can’t recall their names but they are the best of the best. Every time I go here I am greeted as soon as I step my foot in the front entrance, asked if I need any help and given a shopping cart. Only complaint I have is, some of the young girls who work the cash registers can have a bit of an attitude at times. But it’s not a huge deal. I think young girl and attitude, goes hand in hand.
The nursery is the best. All their plants look healthy and they have a wide variety of different and unique plants. I will only shop here at Ace for plants and paint. I wish they would get rid of Home Depot and stick Miners in that huge store, I would get lost forever!

This place is a joke. Unhelpful … better off going to one of their other stores.

Surprisingly large hardware store in a great location (railroad district). They have a large nursery along with most things you would need from a hardware store (electrical, hardware, tools, etc.) Unlike a huge warehouse like the Home Depot, the departments are spread across different smaller buildings, giving it a cozier feel.
Reasonable prices, friendly staff. We needed an item that was sold out on the shelves, and the department manager personally went through the new shipment totes to find us the item we needed!

Finally, a store that has all exceptionally friendly employee’s. The woman store manager (can’t remeber name) is quite friendly herself and hands on. She is always smiling when I come in there. They have a wonderful garden and nuts & bolts section. These are my two saving graces when I come here. I would say that prices on bulk items are better at Home Depot, but this is only a few blocks up from my house and on my way to work. That makes the convenience factor great. They have also changed the parking lot lay out to be more conducive to being closer to the entrance. For some, that should be helpful. Overall, I am thrilled that Miner’s came in and improved the all ready great store. To top it, they transferred over some the old employees from the old store. Thanks for not giving the axe to the seasoned and trained workers Miner’s! I will be a regular for as long as a live here.

The employees here are so friendly and helpful, which is surprisingly unusual. I am so glad I have somewhere where I can get what I need in a reasonable amount of time with help whenever I need it. I can’t even get 5 ft in the door before someone asks if I need help! AMAZING!

Love that this is so close to my house. In moving into my new place last summer I found myself in need of random hardware and each time I was greeted nicely & directed to exactly what I was in search of.

What a joy to have Miner’s finally in SLO. They are a vast improvement over «Pacific Home and Garden» that they replaced in this location and are more like the «Pacific Do-​It Center» that was here before that.
They have the best staffing level of any hardware store I’ve been to. Of course, that’s the norm at their other locations as well. It’s not just a lot of staff; it’s a lot of knowledgeable staff, and that makes all the difference.
It’s a pain to drive all the way out to Home Depot when you live in town and need a plumbing or electrical part to finish off a project — or if you’re looking for something to start that vegetable garden or to paint that room.
They have a rewards card too. It actually works. I’ve gotten several $ 5.00 discounts in the mail, and they are all good for cash at the next purchase.
I wish them well and really hope they stay. And I’m doing my part by shopping there. You should check them out.
