Established in 1975.

The Community Programs department consists of a multitude of programs, activities, classes and events; such as, but not limited to, Arts & Crafts, Business, Cooking, Dance, Home Décor, Music, Pet Care, Photography, Writers Conference, College for Kids, Aqua Fitness, and Youth/Adult Swim Lessons. All offerings are fee-supported and not funded by the state. Institute for Professional Development (IPD) offers trainings for business and employees to support economic growth and growing need for trainings to align with the growing trends within specific fields within our community.

Community Programs intends to pursue its mission to meet diverse educational, recreational and enrichment needs of San Luis Obispo County. Fulfilling this mission is all the more critical as the Community College sharpens its focus to support students in their efforts to improve foundational skills, transfer to a four-year institution, earn a certificate or an associate degree, and advance in the workforce.
