Creekside Brewing Company

Very disappointed. I made a reservation for 7:45pm early in the week for Saturday February 13^th and the place is closed or better said abandoned when Unilocal and open table said they were open for business. My date and I drove down from SF to find the restaurant we were anxious to eat at with no lights and no one answering the phone. I kept calling to try and figure out maybe we were standing in front of the wrong building or maybe there were special holidays hours, but no — no answer. I was so embarrassed. I don’t know if this place is open or still in business but it would have been good to know. Terrible.

Came for beers and appetizers. Food was okay at best, (had to send first portobello fries back & pretzel was ordinary & under-​cooked at best). Beers were tasty. I especially enjoyed the floral notes in the Vienna Ale. Nice view from the patio, but overall a bit disappointed.

Decided to stop here for a lunch break. Ordered a Basil pesto chicken pasta and the dish tasted alright. Nothing really stood out, but it felt fresh and didn’t leave me feeling overstuffed.
The drinks here were good, ordered some off tap and from their bottled menu. The beers are your typical microbrewed beers, they didn’t have any exotics flavors. But that’s not to say I didn’t enjoy them.
The scenery is what makes this place. Beautiful patio seating with a view of the creek that runs through the town. Even if you sit inside it’s wonderful, there’s a lot of natural lighting from their large windows.
A great place to stop by or take your friends and family to, if you’re in the area.

Cute little place, not very big in size or menu items, but of high quality. I had a triple decker Reuben sandwich with a cup of creamy tomato soup, and my husband had a burger. Both came with 4 oz «tasting» beers. Go for a walk afterward along the eponymous creek.

The ground chuck/​brisket burger was absolutely to die for! I’ve never had such a tender delicious burger! Anthony was a great server! Make sure you sit in his section. We also ordered a flight of beer and found that the IPA was our favorite. Thanks Anthony for great service and food on our stop through SLO!

I am mostly vegetarian, but after last weekend, I will make it my mission to get their chicken and waffles every time I visit. I liked their stout too. I came to the bar last weekend and it was packed enough but still enjoyable… man, those chicken and waffles are something else. It’s like a popsicle of chicken covered with a waffle and you dip it in a maple concoction. Seriously, I don’t even eat chicken anymore, it’s not worth it to me, but if a chicken has to die so I can enjoy this beauty, I’m ok with that.

Came here during the farmers market on the 12^th of Nov with my friends for some beer flights. We originally went to spikes, but they refused to do flights so we came here. should of came here first. this place is by far more spacious and the atmosphere more mellow. We went downstairs to the bar area and ask the gentleman bartender who was more than happy to serve us our flights and give us a brief detail on the beers be poured us. He went beyond his service to help us. overall, our experience here was outstanding and will come back here when we return to the SLO area from my hometown of NYC.

We arrived with a huge, slightly intoxicated party. Our server, Taylor, was courteous, charming, and patient. The food was incredible. Dare I say best burger ever??? Also, the coconut shrimp– ridic.
Great beer, excellent cocktails, and remarkable food!

This is a higher end brew pub located on the walk by the river walk.
The interior is brand new, and offers excellent views of the river walk.
The beer is pretty damn good, and they offer local hand crafted cocktails. By local I mean they partner with local organic farms for the ingredients. I think they are slightly superior to the beer.
The food is good verging on great, but I have to say this is not a cost effective place to eat. My burger, fries, and a 4 oz beer was 15 dollars. It was all excellent, but 15 is a lot for burger, fries and a taste of beer.
Service was excellent.
I’d recommend a beer tasting here anytime, and it’s totally worth a trip down for.

This little brewery is great! Have a flight next to the creek along with their amazing pretzel bites… the best I’ve ever had! My favorite was the imperial kolsch. A must stop if you’re visiting SLO.

Who charges for a taste of craft beer?
I wanted to love this place, but the best I could say is mediocre at best. They feature as many guest beers as their own and don’t have their taps labeled. They try to focus on hand crafted and high end ingredients but they miss the mark on execution. I bought their mac n cheese. Bland, no salt and not all the ingredients that the menu features. Word of advise, do the basics well!!! Plus they won’t let you taste their beer without charging you. We were told some b.s. That new legislation won’t allow them to give free tasters, but then they said you can have a free taste if you buy a pint. Makes them seem greedy. Finally they play music that features the «F» word regularly. Overall, disappointed!!!

I have been coming here for about 5 years. About a year ago, the menu started changing and the beer, well, it wasn’t as great. Still good, but not great. I took a business colleague there for lunch, but wasn’t sure what to expect. Wow. Totally remodeled the place. Finally a new bathroom!!! New chairs, tables, décor, and… A new menu! I asked our waitress what had happened and she said a new owner, a new brewmaster and two chefs later and they’d arrived at a really phenomenal menu. I had a burger you’d have to see to believe. The taste was on par with some of the best I’ve had (I LOVE burgers). They offer quiet an array of options to customize, plus, each item on their lunch menu came paired with a 4oz pour of the Chefs recommended beer. It’s included in the price! I had their DIPA and while it wasn’t as bitter and dank as I’m accustomed to, it was perfect for the pairing and an accomplishment for a true micro brewery. Oh and I forgot to mention the fries… Do yourself a favor. Get. These. Fries. I could have eaten them all day long. Every day. For the rest of forever.
Anyway, I’m going back tomorrow, because my wife was excited to try the new menu too. We’ve always enjoyed our little spot at this place and I’m so excited to see the new ownership take this restaurant to the next level! Keep it up, Creekside!

Creekside bar (downstairs) just isn’t what it used to be. I used to go to the bar every Thursday with a friend for some beer and the atmosphere and beer was great. Hadn’t been there in a long while and went back for some beer and it just felt different. The bar was remodeled in a weird awkward way. The walls are a mellow yellow color and the ceiling is mint green. The bar shelves used to be a nice dark stained wood with bright white back lights. Now it’s this brownish orange odd feces color with bright pink back lights. The vibe it used to have is gone. Bartender said they were aiming for speakeasy type bar, but they went away from that concept not toward it. I don’t even know what to think of it… If they lit up the room a bit and put sand on the floor the could make it a beachside bar.
I give my experience this time around 3 stars because the beer. I got a goldihops dipa which was delicious. Creek side always seems to have great brews on tap at all times. The service was pretty good, he was very interactive and sociable. The seating arrangements/​chairs were definitely an upgrade from before the remodel. Overall, it was an alright experience.

It’s been a few years since I was last here but the place is still great. The service has been a little slow, maybe just unhurried. On a nice day out on the deck it really isn’t that important. I usually stop here while in route from SF to Southern California. The time it takes to stop and have lunch is perfect just right for me to get off the road, relax and stretch out. They have great beers and great food combinations. The menu changes some over time, while it can be disappointing to see some of my favorite things not on the menu it’s a good change. There is always something on the menu I want.
How about the Pork Circus? Its a burger loaded with bacon everything, bacon smoked cheddar, bacon jam and lots of bacon. This last time I got the hopped up reuben, it was pretty good on it’s own but with a beer to keep it company it was the perfect meal. We also got the flash fried brussel sprouts, the sauce was a bit overpowering but the spouts themselves were seasoned and fried perfectly.
I think one of the reasons Creekside gets lower stars then it deserves is that the service is not super fast. As long as you can accept that the place is great.
After posting a good review once before, and now updating it again with a five star rating I’ve become really curious as to why this place is not getting at least four stars. I looked at ALL the reviews. One thing I noticed is the complaints about the slow service and people being forgotten about, I’ve never had that problem on my lunch stops here.

My husband and I stopped in for lunch around 1:15 on a Saturday. We had never been to SLO before, and we’re just passing through on our way back to the Bay Area, and this place looked darling. The setting is amazing, right next to the creek, plenty of trees.
But that is where the pros of this brewery starts and ends. We had one of the worst dining experiences of our lives there. The place was not busy, there were only three other groups (one who ended up walking out), yet it took us over ten minutes to be greeted. Our waitress was visibly upset about something, took our order, and that was the LAST time we saw her. My husband ordered a beer which took 20mins to arrive, delivered by the hostess. Our food took forty minutes, delivered by the hostess. The food was nothing to rave about. The waitress never once checked in with us. Finally, after being there for over an hour and antsy to hit the road, we gave our card to the hostess and asked her to run it. Ten minutes later we had to ask where our bill was.
It was the only time in either of our lives where we left no tip!

Stephanie K. who just posted a review 43 minutes ago was right. We were the couple that walked out yesterday! We waited for 20 minutes before the HOSTESS came over and asked if she could help by getting drinks started. We gave her our drink orders and waited for another 10 minutes without receiving them. We have NEVER walked out of a restaurant, but did not want to wait any longer. We tried to be patient but never even saw our server. Total of 30 minutes without seeing our server once.
We were really excited to try the beer, but it’s a shame the service yesterday was not on point. I’m sorry for anyone else who had to experience this.

Competent but not outstanding burgers. Good Reuben though a little strong on the alternative sauce. Very good garlic fries. No gluten free buns.
Bigger problems: no soap in the bathroom, which wasn’t even resolved 20 minutes after we reported it. That’s a bit gross! And even though it was quite quiet, food took 20 to 25 minutes to arrive. Service was ok.

Third Stop, during our trip out to SLO. Found this spot on Unilocal.Arrived on location and were directed to a downstairs bar. So far so good. The bartenders were very friendly and he told us their drinks were amazing. Big words I would say. $ 12 for a drink, steep prices but we tried a drink out. The drink was good, but it wasn’t anything to really to rave about. We ended up getting beers after that, but we weren’t too impressed either. We stayed there no longer than an hour and went on to our fourth stop.

Such a great find during our stay in SLO! My hubs loves beer and trying different and unique types so I thought this place would give him what he wanted plus the ambiance I wanted. You might laugh when I say ambiance at a brewery but we sat out on the patio in the evening which was outside alongside the beautiful tree covered creek.
I had the Shepherd’s pie which was very flavorful and the perfect comfort food. My hubs had a spicy pasta dish which was amazing. It was unique and the flavors worked perfectly together.
