Cool Cat Cafe

We stopped in here while on the road. It’s a burger place that looks like a 50s diner, complete with Marilyn/​Elvis murals and black and white tiles and the like.
I had a burger without a bun. They must have used a half head of iceberg to wrap it. I was not wanting for lettuce! The burger was huge and juicy. Fries were okay but I wasn’t a huge fan of the spice they used on it.
Our table was kind of greasy and had some salt on it from earlier patrons, so I wished it had been cleaned. But I didn’t feel like flagging down someone to wipe it since I wasn’t eating off the table. It was a counter height table, and when I put my elbows on it I could feel the grease.

Had the Shaboom burger… AMAZING! Service was great, burger was huge, couldn’t finish the fries, which were also great. I will definitely be here again!

Fantastic burgers. Great flavor and texture. My friend had the milkshake special and said it was the best she has ever had and would pay for it again! I spent less than 10 $ on burger and fries, well worth it. Not to mention the polite and friendly customer service, even while the place got busy.

After hearing about cool cats I had to check it out. It is a classic diner similar to Mel’s diner. The menu was normal nothing spectacular, although, the descriptions are pretty entertaining. The food is average, diner food. The service from our waitress was spectacular. Maria was very considerate and made sure our experience was great. Their milkshake menu was the best part. Build your own or choose one from their design. The over diner is solid and I give it a four out of five. The only drawback was that the food was mediocre. Thanks cool cats

Really like this place. I have never been disappointed by what I get here and I’ve tried quite a few things on their menus. My favorites are the duke, leader of the pack and boogie boogie. But they have, by far the BEST milk shakes I’ve ever had, seriously. There are many, many options burger wise in SLO and Cool Cat is one of the best.

I stumbled onto this place a few blocks from my home, and it’s fantastic. I’ve been there 4 – 5 times at this point and each time the service is excellent and the burgers are the best that I’ve had in SLO. You should go to this place ASAP

Better than Sylvester, in my opinion. Great friendly staff. Adult milkshakes! What a great concept! I’m stuffed.

Best food and best service. Love this place except… the outdoor tables are horrible! They wobble all over the place and are really uncomfortable to eat at. And BTW, replace the broken umbrella… it has been like this for a year.

I found Cool Cat Café while browsing Unilocal and I thought this would be a cool place to bring my mom. We stopped in for dinner and had an absolute blast. 50’s era news clippings and advertising on the walls, pin ball machines, old school milkshakes, and very reasonable prices make this place fun. There was even a jukebox! I never got around to seeing if it actually worked though. It was a little weird being in a 50’s diner and hearing early 2000’s music. The fries were a bit too crisp for my liking but that’s a personal preference not at all a knock on how good the food is here. Gina B was our server and she was great, making sure we didn’t run dry throughout our meal. I will most definitely be back. Major kudos for a dog friendly patio.

Monster burgers very close to the pier, delicious food, and even better cocktails!!¡¡ (much needed on a family trip) Fish & chips were a must we were a party of 10 they seated us promptly, Not one food complaint great overall service will be returning on another trip & visit! Overall great décor too alot of nostalgia

I love cool cats. If I want a burger and fries, this is the only place in the area I would ever think to go.
The burgers are on point, the fries are thick. The diner feel of eating here is fun. And the service has always been friendly and quick.
And if you want a milkshake, they are legit!
The patty melt is soooo good. They make it on this thick garlic seasoned/​grilled sourdough bread. Ahhh I want one right now!

A great blast to the past! Décor was awesome! Their burgers are incredible, juicy, and need no additions. Their fries perfectly seasoned. And a great place to have a lazy family meal on a Saturday evening!

So freaking good. I totally forgot about this place, its been around forever. Burgers are AWESOME! and the fries are ridiculously good. Love it

The ONLY problem I have with this place is that they’re a 50’s themed diner with random 80’s music. (Not enough to make them lose a star!)

Their burgers are good. Like. TOO good. I’ve had 4 different ones now. They’re messy. But, SO delicious.

Walking in, Cool Cat’s had a great retro touch and friendly staff to match the old school atmosphere. I ordered «The Duke» and was very happy to see a hot, giant burger and tons of fries in front of me shortly after. The BBQ sauce and onion rings were particularly good on it and the patty was very tasty. Props to the artist (s) who did all the murals on the walls!

It takes a really cool cat to open up a burger joint like this one. Mad props to the owners. I also saw a sign saying there’s a Cool Cat location in Maui — jealous they get to travel there for business!
Service is fantastic here. The waitress we got asked all the right questions like «do you want grilled onions?», «ranch with you fries?», «refill for your coke». It sounded like music to my ears as my stomach was eating itself from hunger pains.
We ordered the Jailhouse Rock burger which contained jack cheese, crispy fresh lettuce, tomato, thousand island dressing, mayo on a french roll. We ordered it medium rare and yes, it came medium rare unlike other burger joints who will take your request but screw you with well done. The bun was AMAZING because it was toasted and buttered on a flat top and had a nice crunch to it. All the burger components were fresh and produced very flavorful bites. Best classic burger i’ve ever had!

Great food and service!!! Got seated the second I walked in the door and a drink seconds later! Waitress was sweet and attentive. Always a good place to come for lunch!

–Fries were also seasoned very well
–Server was nice and the place had plenty of space, was an off time
–They make one add on fries to the burgs for 1.99
