1.95 for most tacos. Made to order after paying. They are huge and have a lot of meat to the tacos. Last time, I purchased the tacos, it was delicious and filling. Today, I got grilled chicken, shredded chicken, carnitas and pastor tacos. It was heavily spiced, I like a little spicy but they were way too spicy to eat today. It was so spicy my nose was running. Also, ordered the super shrimp burrito. $ 9.99 pricy for a burrito, the bad boy must’ve weigh 2 pounds! It was huge with lots of shrimp in it… but still too spicy. Small store in San Leandro area with baked goods, meat market and a place to order cake. Will come back to order tacos and ask for non spicy tacos.

Since opening, Panaderia el Pueblo is still a charming little shop with great food — in particular, their chicken burritos and their tamales — but I’m really not a fan of the younger guy that mans the counter now. He’s rude, doesn’t speak much, and keeps the conveyor belt filthy. It’s constantly covered in pan dulce crumbs, he’s constantly busy watching novellas, and keeps his eyes trained on the TV while he rings you up and barely affords you a few words telling you the transaction total. I’ve also encountered tools inadvertently left in the fridges by, presumably, someone fixing something in there, but I don’t want to run across a screwdriver next to the milk or laying on bundles of cilantro, as has also been the case once in the produce case. Come on guys, you can do better than this. A loss of a star for laziness.

I love everything about this place– except their burritos. It’s hard for me to NOT like a burrito. Most of the time you can’t go wrong when making a burrito, but unfortunately me and panderia el pueblo are not a perfect match. I’ve gone a few times to test it out thinking maybe they just had a bad day, but every time I’m left with a disappointment. They’re rice is always kind of mushy and everything is overly salty. I feel my cholesterol levels sky rocketing after every bite. My family also agrees with this as I’ve brought them home food. Their pan is good and fresh, they have everything you need for your mom and pop Mexican market and their fresh meat and vegetables are great and large variety. I keep coming back for these items.

I didn’t want to write this review because I wanted to keep this spot a secret. But I also want them to stay in business so here goes. I usually stop at this place on my way home from BART. Let me rephrase that: I can never resist stopping by this place on my way home from BART. The burritos(I haven’t tried the other food yet) are amazingly fresh, delicious, and filling. It tastes like homestyle Mexican food. You order at the cashier(usually he’s on the computer by the window when you walk in) and then give your order slip to the cook. They make your burrito in front of you which is nice cuz you can let them know any special instructions(ie black beans or pinto). The grocery part is also super clean and organized. It seems they have pretty much everything you would need in a Mexican kitchen. Let’s see what else? Its nice that such a small place takes credit cards. It’s also super cheap and you get CHIPS with your(HUGE) burrito! Oh and the pan dulce is always fantastic and soft and fresh. I often see the bakers restocking the shelves.(Tongs are hanging on the side of the shelf; it always takes me forever to find them). Put your selections on your tray and bring them to the counter to be bagged. I’m not sure what the price is for their pan but I’ve gotten a full bag for under $ 5. Now go! Don’t waste time! Just get there and get the best burrito in San Leandro.

Panderia El Pueblo is misnamed. it’s also a bakery, taqueria, grocer, meats/fish market. all in a space a fraction the size of Mi Pueblo. eats: baked goods(crossaint, cream horn, butterfly)= 2.75 –very fresh, huge size, cream horn creamy –fast checkout, crumbs: –not sure if there is a parking lot in back. if not, only street parking. –cake section in back also –prices reasonable.
