Gave them a call this morning and the lady who answered the phone put me on hold… By the time I found my way there my phone still on hold and the lady was laughing and chilling and totally forgot about me still on hold. I show her my phone with 15 minutes counting still and all she did «„“ hahaha, I forgot because too busy»””” really??? Busy doing what??? While you put me on hold I thought you have other customer in other phone line but you just chilling and gossip with other customer in the office who is waiting for her car.

After about 4 years my Corvette needed new tires. I talked to Ulises last Friday at Mel’s Tire and decided to buy BF Goodrich tires. They were delivered this morning and expertly installed by Ulises and Edgar. Before putting the wheels back on the car they thoroughly cleaned them (including the glue from the previous weights) and cleaned the tires. I am once again completely satisfied with Mel’s Tire, I will be their faithful customer forever!

We are extremely impressed with Mel’s Tires. We just purchased new tires and rims at a fantastic price and our Mechanic and Salesman «Ulysses» was incredible.

I called today to make an appointment, and they got me in immediately. I got my tires changed in under an hour, which was fantastic. They gave me quotes and prices over the phone, and also informed me of a a rebate offer. The price was decent (I didn’t shop around) and the service was quick and efficient. Very happy with this place.

Initially got a quote for two tires for my 2011 dodge charger from the previous shop i used to go to but was 12 miles farther. Don’t want to use spare tire so tried to call Mel’s, spoke to Ulysses got a cheaper quote. Was told to wait for tire to arrive. Went in and out in less than an hour. Great Service. Will be back for 2 front tires in 2 weeks.

Brian was super helpful and nice and his customer service over the phone was what had me driving to san leandro to get my tires changed instead of a tire shop down my street who served me impatient customer service over the phone. being friendly makes a huge difference on whether ill choose to spend my money on a business. thanks mels tire! i will be back for my future tire related issues.

I just two new tires installed on my car today. Guy who was working there was very nice, service was very fast i was out within half an hour. so come here if you do not like waiting for hours. i will go back there

I must say I am really impressed by the Tire shop. I came in the other day needing to buy my daughter two new tires. I found this place on Unilocal,and wanted to check it out, simply by it’s awesome reviews. This place was so easy to find and I was not disappointed by how great this place really is!
I was immediately greeted by a really helpful guy (who I believe was the owner, Mel himself maybe?). He was just so genuine and down to earth, I felt like I could really trust him. Just an all around nice guy. I was quoted that it would take up to 45 minutes for them to put on the new tires I purchased but it ended up only taking 25. Wow!
The best part is that I purchased a Unilocal Deal, and after discovering that the deal didn’t cover the tires I needed to buy, the owner still honored it. I had a great discount, amazing customer service, and an overall really pleasant experience. Needless to say I’ll definitely be coming back, and I’m going to tell all my friends and family to come here too. So impressed.

I’ve always had the convenience of having my bf to fix my tires when they’re flat. He did so but this time it didn’t hold, so being this is my first time getting my tire repaired at an actual shop I was nervous 1. about the cost 2. how long it will take 3. end up needing to replace the tire. With that being said i Unilocaled to find the cheapest place to go to with quality service. I came across Mel’s first hesitant because of the unknown. So i called as soon as they opened and asked the pricing to get my flat tire patched. My wallet was glad to know that it was only $ 25 to get the darn thing fixed. Thumbs up to that. They’re inexpensive pricing was great but what stood out the most was the customer service.
My tire had two holes plugged (by my bf). I only needed one fixed but they fixed both for me and charged me the same low price. It was my first time but if the service will be like this all the time I might just give my bf a break and just get my tire needs done here.

What makes Mel’s better than your local chain tire store? Here are my answers…
–They always quote you the «out the door» price without any hidden fees. Pricing is also very reasonable when compared against online tire stores like the Tire Rack.
–They care about your car unlike some of the local stores. When installing the wheels, they make sure to torque them by hand while many chain tire stores use the air wrench and over tighten things.
–They have a Hunter Road Force Balancer, which means your car won’t have any vibration/​shaking issues on the freeway. Additionally, they have high quality rim clamps so no scratches on your wheels.
–Last but not least, they work extremely quickly. I was in and out in 45 minutes rolling on brand new Michelins.
Tip: Keep an eye out for their $ 40 off coupon in the San Leandro Times and also their Unilocal special. You can combine that with the Michelin $ 70 rebate (which comes and goes) for a total of $ 110 off.

I was shopping for rims one afternoon March 2013 and saw this shop as I was on my way to Big O tires. I figured I check out one of the smaller shops just in case. Boy was I glad I did. I was helped by Ulisses who was able to get me a quote on some American Racing rims which I had already looked at online through a few sites. He was friendly and knowledgeable.
I was hoping to find a place locally that could put on some rims sooner than waiting for online delivery. Ulisses checked on the computer for their price and it was slightly higher than what I could get from Tire Rack.
I asked any chance to get a better price? He said he could call the maker direct and check for me. He did and he gave a much better price which beat Tire Rack by at least $ 20 per rim! I asked can they make it in by tmrw and he said yes if I left a deposit by 3:30pm today.
I left a deposit and placed my set of rims order. The next day I call and make sure the rims are on the way. Ulisses says he would call the company and return my call.
He called me back promptly and said the rims are in the Fed Ex truck and should arrive about 12:30 according to Fed Ex.
I say great and arrive around 12:30. The rims haven’t arrive yet but I’m in no big rush so I wait. After awhile I ask if Ulisses can call again. He does and after he asks to find out exactly when the truck will arrive, Fed Ex says the time given was just an estimate…
Anyway I wait until about 2:45 and decide to call it a day. Ulisses apologizes for making me wait and said he will call me if they arrive later today. Also he said if they show up, that I can come in before they open and they will service me first.
I say ok sounds good.
Later that afternoon Ulisses calls me and tells me the rims are finally in!
He found out the reason why the rims didn’t arrive as usual was that the rims were placed in the truck but WAS NOT scanned. So the driver didn’t know to stop at the shop.
Apparantly Ulisses placed another call after I left to ask about the rims and fortunately they were able to find out the rims where in the truck and delivered them.
The next day I arrive a few minutes past 8am and in about 85 minutes I had my rims on nice and shiny. They even sprayed and wiped my tires and made them shiny.
Upon leaving I paid my bill and was pleased to see the shop lowered some of the labor and gave me a sweeter deal!
I highly recommend this shop for all your tire and rim needs! Honest people and good work they do here! They would have got 5 stars if not for making me wait but I do understand these things happen. Hey next time I go, I’d be happy to give my 5 stars!

Btw as a side note the Big O across the street are not honest! They quote me a decent price over the phone and when I drop by just to make sure, the guy at the counter gives me a $ 25 per rim higher price! BEWARE!

I recently got my tires replaced my Mel’s Tire, and now I’m back on the road again. Rather than share all the personal details of my exciting flat (sarcasm!), here are some pointers for those hoping to get back on all fours:
— They quote you a price in advance. That’s nice.
— Removing wheel locks costs $ 10 a tire. That’s not.
— They take all credit cards (except Discover), but checks are a no-​go
— They have coupons in the San Leandro Times. Coincidentally, the San Leandro Times is just down the street!
— They work FAST
