I took my 1988 Toyota pickup truck to Maaco San Leandro, expecting a mediocre paint job with a typical customer service routine. Boy was I surprised. The paint job on My truck is restored to its original state and I couldn’t be more pleased with the way I was treated. Peter the service manager drove me home after I dropped off my truck and personally scheduled and oversaw all aspects of the restoration. My truck was finished ahead of schedule.

What do you do when your car has 230,000+ miles, still runs great, but has a few not-​so– minor dents? Take it to Maaco in San Leandro!
Tom assisted me, and was professional all the way. My car was ready sooner than expected and looks like new. When I picked it up, not only was the body work completed, it was sparkling clean and the front light lenses polished to perfection.
I can’t say enough and will recommend the Maaco in San Leandro and Tom to anyone!

Maaco, San Leandro did an AMAZING paint job on this car. As you can see the pictures before painting, the clear coat was in horrible condition and the pictures afterwards makes the car look like new again. I was concerned with possible over spray or paint in the wrong places but everything was perfect. Tom and Pete were very friendly and accommodating. They were able to finish the car a day earlier than I asked and without cutting any corners on the quality of the work. Maaco shops are independently owned so I would highly recommend the San Leandro location. Thank you again for making the car look new again!

Quick, efficient service. The estimate process was easy, no pressure. My car was done in three and a half days although I was expecting not to have it for five days. Very clean inside and out, small scratches and scrapes are gone. My car has 180k miles, this paint job makes the car look newer than it is.

Remember the day you drove your first brand new car off the lot? You know the one you were going to pay for with your hard earned money? I did that in May of 2004. After a color change after someone keyed my ride up, my gun metal prize went to being my Blue Betsy. After 10 years, my paint started to fade, chip and oxidize — badly! My dad hooked me up for my bday and xmas and said now go get that POS painted.
I’m so glad I took my car to Tom, Peter and the rest of the guys at Maaco! I dropped my car off on a Friday. Tom gave me a ride to Enterprise and said it’d be ready on Thursday or Friday of the next week. Next thing you know, Tuesday Tom calls me and says my car is ready. I was just getting used to the 2014 rental! So Wednesday, I go to pick up my car.
No BS, I literally felt that same excitement I felt when I picked her off the lot at SL Honda! She went from Blue Ugly Betty to Beautiful Blue Betsy. They even cleared my headlights! I got the Urethane + IC paint. The one that is guaranteed for four years. And I can say, after this paint job, I’d be happy and PROUD to drive her around for another 4 years.

The short of it, I bought a 93′ Jeep Wrangler a couple of months ago. Finally, I have the car of my childhood hero, MacGyver.
Being that my jeep is old enough to buy alcohol, it was a bit rusty on the outside… which I really liked because I didn’t have to worry about more scratches. I liked having a rugged vehicle, but alas, the husband says he won’t ride with me in a scrubby car.
So, off to Maaco I go. Being that I am an over-​worked/​under-​payed non-​profiteer, the base paint job was all I could afford and frankly, all I really wanted to spend.
Tom and Pete were super friendly and we’re very clear about where/​how they would paint my jeep. I asked questions, they answered a bit grandiosely, I thought, but… we all know Maaco’s reputation as a car painter. I’ll be honest, I nodded along, but kept my expectations low. Frankly, I just wanted it to pass the husband test.
I said okay and they said «drop it off on Friday and we can get it back to you by maybe Weds, probably Thursday.»
(Side note: the BART isn’t far away from here, but they offered to give me a ride.)
Tuesday-​midday: they call and let me know that my jeep is ready, sitting out in front of the shop working as free advertisement.
So, a day earlier than expected, I head out expecting a so-​so paint job with some orange peel spots.
Thoughts when I saw my jeep: HOLY CRAP! THATS MY JEEP?! THAT THING LOOKS F*ING AWESOME!!!
And it does! These guys went above and beyond. Super nice, very professional, and I would recommend them to anyone. I did not imagine that my elderly little jeep could look so shiny and sharp. I am legit blown away.
So, no lie, I get home and park my SWEET new ride in front of the house. Husband comes home and I’m having a drink on the back patio. We chat, nothing out of the ordinary — how was your day kinda stuff. Finally, I say, «hey, what do you think of the jeep?»
«What jeep?» He replies.
«My jeep… out front.»
«Holy shit! That the jeep?!»
Yep, he didn’t even recognize it.
So, a huge thanks to Maaco in San Leandro for making my jeep look awesome!

My Honda Accord had severe front end damage close to being totaled… Tom gave me a great price on the damage and to paint my entire car a better color… my car was ready in six days WOW!!! I was shocked It looked better now then when I drove off the lot with it… I been going to Macco since 06 I always left happy that’s just my personal experience

I was holding off on writing a review for this Maaco location until I was pretty sure that the paint job (s) would hold up for the long-​term. They have! I brought them two cars — one was my daily driver, a very nice 2007 Toyota MR-​2 and my wife’s 1998 red Corvette that was hit in the rear bumper while in our parking lot.
The woman who hit my wife’s Corvette actually recommended the shop and I was very hesitant of taking it to what I had always considered Maaco as — kind of a lower end/​less expensive type auto body shop. Maybe I’m a paint/​car snob, but it is what it is (or was in this case).
The MR-​2 had paint that was extremely oxidized and a few of the body panels were mismatched due to previous repairs (the thing has been a magnet to other cars wanting to slam in to it from time to time). Very much past time for a full repaint, and I wanted it to match the original factory British Racing Green.
When I picked it up after about 4 or 5 days in the shop, I was simply blown away. I am very much a «car guy’ and pretty picky about all aspects of my cars, so I went over the car with a fine toothed comb. There was literally NOTHING that I could point out that was flawed. Pretty impressive, and even so much more so given the price. I did select the higher-​end paint with clearcoat. Not THE highest, but the one just down from it (hey, it was over a year ago, so I am not 100% sure if that makes any sense).
After bringing the MR-​2 back, I decided that this Maaco shop was «worthy» of taking on my wife’s Corvette. And I (and the wife) have zero regrets — stunning work, absolutely as if it came from the factory. They did have to replace the entire bumper cover and spray to match, so the repair was quite a bit more than I had thought, but it was being covered by the woman who hit it — but they were incredibly fair given the extent of the repairs required.
So — now that it has been over a year since getting them both done and they have held up perfectly (and that’s without the luxury of having a garage to keep them in),
Given the incredibly great work we had done on our two «every day» cars, we have decided to have them repaint our «toy» — an absolutely perfect (with that exception of some aging paint) 1977 Porsche 911 Turbo. Whale tail and all. THAT’S how confident I am with this shop. And trust me, I would never take this car to just any old shop for paint. And it’s black — it’s GOT to be perfect!

Peter was awesome to work with… he was recommended to me by an auto body shop in San Mateo (the job would have been huge and too expensive to do without insurance covering it).
My CR-​V had moderate damage and a hack job of a fix done by a quack in Chicago before I moved. Peter’s shop repaired all of the horrible previous work and painted the entire car for about ¹⁄₅ of what it was going to cost at the shop in San Mateo. Honestly, the car looks as close to brand new as I can remember and Peter was totally helpful, honest, and professional.

I have had all 3 of my cars painted by Maaco San Leando, the owner Peter knows his business. If you want a job done right don’t be cheap see Peter and crew. Thanks Pete and crew my M3 looks like it rolled off the show room floor!

Our older BMW had been dinged a few times but when someone took out the driver’s door we had to fix it. The insurance paid for door and fender but the new parts really emphasized the blotches from a car cover and several small scratches. The owner of the shop said that for them to repaint the whole car was over $ 5000. We couldn’t afford that. But kindly, he suggested this Maaco which he has used on occasion. Like most people, we were skeptical.
Peter Duenas (representative at this MAACO) is straightforward, helpful, courteous and a good listener. No pressure. Now our old car is bright and shiny without a dimple or chip with a new BMW emblem on hood and for far less than HALF the price. We noticed lot is full of BMWs, Mercedes, Volvo. If you need a paint job and money is a consideration (when isn’t it?), why pay more when you get a good paint job and deal with great people like Peter.

I’m not impressed.
We’re on the budget, and have have ended up with an old Jaguar as the cheapest used car we could get. Runs great, but the paint was completely shot, and there were some surface rust spots. Went to Maaco to get the car presentable, as they quoted us $ 400 over the phone, less than half of what we could find anywhere else for a paint job.
Ended up paying $ 780 (I can understand that the rust work needed to be paid more, but almost 100% more? It wasn’t quite *that* bad). Ok, the amount of extra work can be debatable… but the quality of the work was pretty disappointing too.
First of all, we carefully chose a color that matched the original one — an understated burgundy. What we got back is a car in color of middle age crisis (see photos). Bright fire-​engine red… actually, we drove by an fire-​engine today, and it turns out our paint is a bit brighter. Egads! They claimed that’s the color we chose. Hey, I’ve been a graphic designer for 20 years now — I know my way around a color wheel.
While they did a pretty good job of keeping the paint off the chrome parts, I did expect them to paint the entire car — they didn’t touch the doors interior metal at all.
Overall car looks pretty good from a distance. When you come in closer, you can see the tiny bubbles over the good portion of the surface, and there are several spots where the protective glaze is already peeling off.
In addition, they remounted the windshield arms in the wrong direction and actually resting on the hood (see photo) — no way you could miss this if you half paid attention. We managed to fix this ourselves.
We now have a serviceable car in a color that’s not of our choice. If you’re hard pressed to paint your car, Maaco will get you to the point where you don’t have to be too embarrassed to be seen in it. I’d recommend saving your pennies and getting a better paint job somewhere else, though.

this is a great place to go to get a paint job. they where very patient with me. I wasnt to sure what i wanted to do, needed a new paint job but didnt know if i wanted same color or different, Peter worked with me and told me all my options what colors may or may not look good. i decided to go with something new and i love it. the customer service i got was great very hard to find now a days. the price was good and seemed to be done in a short amount of time.

Peter was great at this Maaco, kind he actually cared about the customer and all of that jazz. Anyway I took in my 1992 Acura Integra to get painted and had a bumper installed and they did a great job on my car!
It wasn’t perfect but it was pretty damn good so I am not going to leave anything negative to say.
No over spray or anything like that on my car, it looks really good. I couldn’t have done a better job myself that’s for sure.
Actually the only thing negative that I will say is that I didn’t expect to over pay for what I got done to my vehicle but like I said for what I paid for the car came out way better than what it was!
I ended up paying $ 1,680 to get my Integra done the way I wanted it too.
