I paid extra to have Home Depot install a new GE over the range microwave, because they are heavy and I have arthritis. They sent out two unqualified hacks who did not even have a complete set of tools (I had to loan them a square head bit to remove the old bracket screw), but worse than that they botched our job.
They used a dull 1″ borer bit to drill 3 large holes in our Mission hickory solid wood cabinet, which splintered out to 1.5″ holes, then tried to cover it up with 1.25″ washers. Two holes like that for the screws that hold up the front of the microwave, then, rather than reusing the existing 1.0″ hole for the AC power cord, they made another 1″ hole, which also splintered.
It was «wham bam, thank you ma’am», and they were through in 25 minutes, and with sawdust everywhere in our kitchen, which they left for us. Next, they pressured me to tell their boss over their cell phone which the guy stuck in my face, that they had done a 5 star job.
I wouldn’t have cared about the sawdust, but I’m pissed about it now, as I thought they had done a good job, until we got on a step stool and went to vac out the upper cabinet and found how they had BOTCHED our install. They used a hammer drill to put in the upper mounting screws, and stripped out the heads of the screws! Unfrigging believable. I have posted pics on the Home Depot Facebook page that clearly show it is a «hack job».
Great for them, though. They get $ 79 + $ 15 for haul away, and do 15 installs per day, he said. No time or concern for my expensive cabinets, no pride of workmanship, no quality control.
Home Depot says I will have to file a «claim» with GE, the microwave manufacturer, who apparently subbed out the install to the Neanderthal installers. Home Depot is whom I paid for the installation, so this sounds like a handoff to me… I am considering a small claims suit, if I do not get satisfaction. It will be next to impossible to replace our damaged cabinet and get it to match, and restore the original natural finish crown molding.
A Lowes installation contractor installed our new expensive Mission hickory cabinets last year… They did a perfect job. I am kicking myself for not calling them instead. They installed our prior microwave with 3/​8″ screw holes and no splintering. No mess to clean up.
I will NEVER shop at Home Depot again. I am writing this to WARN YOU that this is the kind of problem you may have if you use Home Depot for your next project. We are very unhappy and wish we had never used Home Depot Installation Services who ruined our cabinet. BEWARE.

Don’t even bother having them come quote it. I learned the hard way that they were just out to gouge me. They could not quote replacing windows in my house on the phone, despite knowing the exact window I wanted, so I set aside a Saturday to have the «professional» come quote the job. Took 3 steps out of the car and said $ 2100/​window is our standard cost for window and installation. Now understand the window itself is ~$ 600 RETAIL at their store and installation is generally $ 300 — $ 400/​window. So why the extra $ 1000/​window? And with 22 windows that is an extra $ 22,000 they want to take from my pocket. Home Depot calls this the «cost of a lifetime warranty». I was smart enough to smell the scam. Imagine elderly people who may not pick up that they were being raped right before their eyes. Talked to Home Depot Corporate doesn’t view this as unethical or deceptive but instead as a money grab from the naïve.

I wish there was a zero for me to give these guys. We were supposed to get the free estimate on a new roof today at 2:00. It got to be a half hour late and nobody showed up, so we started calling. When my wife finally got hold of the guy, he told her that he had called and left a message that they first had to get a roof inspection before they could have someone come by. We pick up all phone messages from our voicemail and that was a flat out lie! We rearranged our schedules to be able to meet this guy who never showed up or called. Home Depot is deleted from our list of roofers to consider.

I’ll keep it simple. Well sort of. Home Depot roofing is dishonest. I’m warning do not use them.
Vicki Aubert, sales consultant for Home Depot came out measured our roof and gave us a bid. We continued to get other quotes. All were similar so we decided to go with HD because we thought we would be protected if anything went wrong.
So About three weeks later, I called Vicki Aubert back and said we’ll go with your bid. She came out a second time and remeasured the roof but then informed us that she couldn’t give us the original quote because the bid expired. The new bid was $ 1500 more. Should have paid attention to this gigantic red flag, but now the other roofers were booked and we were stuck. Thought this was a crock and expressed our disapproval. But we signed the new contract and sucked it up.
Work was supposed to start within a week. Three weeks in and no sign of the roofing contractor but a permit was tacked to our door. I called vicki Aubert to find out what the delay was. She assured me everything was fine and someone would be out. No one showed up. Called her again as two more weeks went by. She said she had measured our roof wrong. HD did an fly over and had new measurements And her quote was now increased by $ 5,000.
«You’ve got to be kidding. We signed a contract a month ago and you never bothered to call us to let us know this was why the job hadn’t started.» She said I know, I was afraid to call but it’s out of my hands. «But You measured it twice.» The scam of bait and switch began. Of course, Now it was too late to go with any local roofers as they were all booked.
I tried to get a hold of some sort of management but there is no such thing. I finally called their customer service to complain about the increase and the treatment we were receiving from Vicki. I told him that Vicki Aubert had not contacted us about the major increase for the job and now the job was on hold until We accepted the new price. In their small print on the contract, it said things could not be changed or cancelled unless we sent them a written letter cancelling which I never did.
This idiot customer, so called service guy, said stop talking to Vicki Aubert and I will take it from here. My name is Tony Lane #76 211. I’m on your side. I documented everything and sent all to Tony. I sent him emails explaining all that happened. Skip to the final call after no action and now we’re talking two months in and they have our deposit. And now the response from Tony Lane, useless sales advocate, was that HD has cancelled our roofing job because I said I didn’t want to pay the extra $ 5000.
I said I never cancelled anything and you know this. I said HD can’t break the contract and cancel our job. I need a roof. The only way it can be cancelled, according to your guidelines, is if I send you something in writing which I never did. Now what do I do, I need a roof. Tony lane said, Yes we can cancel it and we did. We’re done and thank you.
These people, both the sales woman, Vicki Aubert and the customer care guy, Tony Lane as well as the higher up that Tony took orders from are liars and cheats. Bait and switch. I asked to talk to a supervisor and Tony Lane said I could not. Case closed. They were going to keep my deposit, but I sent them a letter about small claims court and it was eventually refunded.
Never, never use Home Depot. They are liars and crooks and very very unreliable. Seriously. I should have paid closer attention to all of the negative remarks on Unilocal

Whatever you do, DON’T buy a roof from Home Depot! I had a $ 15,500 roof installed in October 2014 and it leaked in several places the first rain we had, a month later. Eventually, most of the leaks and the interior damage were repaired, but when the rainy season returned, in 2015, there was still a leak in my livingroom (drip-​dripping into a bucket whenever it rains hard) and Home Depot denies it’s their roof that’s at fault! The roof was sold to me with a 50-​year product/​10-​year labor warranty and Home Depot is not honoring the warranty — these morons have even gone so far as to say, «We live in earthquake country, you know» — what does THAT mean? I think if earthquakes (and no, we haven’t felt a serious one since before the roof was installed) are an issue, they shouldn’t sell the roof with the warranty. Hmmm actually, that’s apparently what they did! I have filed a Better Business Bureau complaint, as well as a Calif. Licensing Board complaint, but the latest word from Home Depot is that they are NOT responsible for the leaks in my new roof, here only a little over a year past installation. I’d advise everyone not to do business with Home Depot at all — they have zero integrity!

My project has not even started and it’s already hell. The only thing that is fast and efficient is the sales process. After that, once it’s signed, you can rote in a corner they won’t care.
Lesson learned. Next time I’ll used a reliable recommended local contractor.

Absolutely Horrible!
Much like the reviews on here, the sales guy promised prompt service, a good job and no disconnect.
He then failed to put in the order in a timely manner, and dropped off the map.
Day of installation is today and no call, no reminder prior.
After many calls they have overbooked themselves and chosen to leave me out.
Salesman finally answered after three calls and said he did everything he could, which is what, sell me make a commission and move on. He actually was crass enough to say that he was too busy running appointments to even return my calls… again HUGE disconnect.
Maybe they show up tomorrow, really wish I would’ve Unilocaled before I booked here.
STAY AWAY, Home Depot loves their big name, and could care less about the people they are supposedly servicing.

Zero stars. Contracted for gutter work. Two different installers missed a total of 4 install appointments. Never did they call before the appointment to cancel, every single time. Sometimes they called afterward and made excuses why they missed the appointment. Excuses which did not pass my ‘smell test’. Sometimes they never called at all. Finally I told Home Depot the contract was cancelled for cause, multiple failures to deliver. I asked for my 10% deposit to be returned. Heh! No such luck, they kept the deposit. My opinion: HD Home Services is incapable of scheduling, their system is completely broken.

Home Depot says it will replace windows that you purchase from them. I am trying to get window replaced and twice now they told me the window that they ordered was cracked. REALLY… two times… they just do this until you give up. They suck… do not order any windows from them.

I will give one star because I cannot give 0 stars. We contracted many services, new roof, new fence, new insulation and new window for the basement. All of them, except insulation presented problems. But with the window it was the worst, it has been already 3 months and our window still has not been installed. Two times already I missed work to stay home waiting for them and they did not show up. The sales guy does not answer the phone or respond to our emails. Do not trust in Home Depot. Now I won’t even go to buy anything from their store, I will not support the business in any way.

I wish I looked at these reviews before I signed the contract with Home Depot. I went to the pleasanton store not looking to get roofing from them. The sales rep was very helpful and I ended up agreeing to get a roofing estimate. I must have gotten 10 follow up phone calls for a sales rep to do roof measurements and give me a quote. 10 days later I accepted a quote and signed a contract, paid the down payment. The sales rep said the job would be completed within 14 days. A day later I get a call from my credit card company for a fraud alert. Turns out Home Depot attempted to process my down payment using the job address and not my billing address which the sales knew my billing address is different from the job address. I called sales rep and informed him he needs to reprocess my downpayment using billing address. Another 3 days passed, no update from Home Depot. I called Home Depot, turns out the downpayment has not been reprocessed so the project is on hold. I told the service rep to reprocess and he did it successfully this time. He told me to expect a call within 24 to 48 hours to schedule installation. No call after 48 hours. I call again and was told to contact installation mgr Patrick Battiste. I called him multiple times, no answer no return call. Long story short, it’s been a month and no install date yet. Home Depot is the worst vendor I’ve ever encountered! Don’t do business with these people.

We bought carpeting at Home Depot. They use USIG as their installers. If Home depot were smart, they would find a new installation company to use. USIG never called us or sent us an e-​mail to let us know when our carpeting would be installed. We got a call from Home Depot asking how the install went on 7÷7÷2014. They were surprised when we told them we didn’t know they would be coming that day. USIG then said 2 PM, never showed, then USIG said 4 PM, never showed, then after 5 PM which we refused. They then said 8 AM on 7÷8÷2014. They showed at 10:45 that day. The men that showed have been wonderful, so no knock on them, just on USIG. It seems USIG knows nothing about customer service, scheduling resources and handling issues when they arise. I feel sorry for the folks working there for these reasons. I would never chose USIG to do anything in my house after this experience.
My wife just texted me that the 3 gentlemen USIG sent to install our carpeting are very nice, polite and fast working. Nothing but praise for them, but this experience dealing with USIG as a company has been awful.
One person at USIG also needs praise. That is Charise, the dispatcher. She has done her very best to get the guys to our house to get our carpeting installed. She was very, very nice and helpful to us.

It’s pretty bad when you are at the permit office for the city and the agents tells you: «DO NOT USE ANY SUBCONTRACTOR THROUGH HOME DEPOT» — I wish I had known that Before we started…
Greenstone Construction — DO NOT USE THESE CONTRACTORS! they are contracted to install marble for bathroom and counter. It’s been over 2 months and would not let these people into my house if they (ever) showed up! They are disorganized, do not answer calls or return calls, do not follow up on anything, nor is there license even current in San Leandro!!! -

surprise surprise they only received 1 star. im assuming this is their main branch of contractors in the general east bay area.
long story short i was supposed to have a shower installed, in what was promised, no more than 2 days. lets try about 3 weeks…
somewhere in that 3 weeks was a bunch of poor communication for scheduling. waiting. only to have wrong parts ordered. more waiting. only to have the new parts ordered not fit correctly due to the initial (wrong) measurements. waiting for them to resize the piece. possibly (read: most likely) lied to about the piece already being ordered! more waiting.
AND finally having the STANDARD but still $ 7000 shower installed. with a nice little strip of bathroom floor cut out cuz the base measurements were wrong too. WTF! theyre lucky im re-​doing it. what if i wasnt. asses.
after dealing with all the junk, Home Depot finally comped me a minuscule fraction of the cost. i just felt bad for the secretary who has to work with them as well as deal with my wrath.

We ordered windows from them, and they told us it would take about a month. After almost two months, we called our project manager, who said he was on the road and would call us back. Never did. I called today, and he said our job disappeared from his list so he figured it had been completed and that someone else was supposed to call us and follow up (who of course never did). He said he’d be in the office in five minutes and would call me back… and didn’t. I called his office and was told he’d been there and was now out in the field, and that our order had been canceled. So I asked to speak to his manager, who was «in a meeting» and was going to call me back. And, you guessed it, didn’t. I checked my credit card statement, and sure enough they credited back our down payment without ever calling us, and without returning any of our calls. Meanwhile, we wasted two months of waiting around, having our heat literally go out the window, and now we’re back at square one. Bottom line: I found them to be totally unprofessional and incompetent.

Home Depot Installation Service was supposed to install windows at my place around 8am-​10am, but the contractor got the days mixed up and they did an install at another house! Hours went by without any notice, so I called and they were anything but apologetic… they actually wanted me to wait around the next day and take more time off from my job.
What was supposed to be a 1-​day job ended up as a 3-​day fiasco. On top of it all, I ended up taking time off of my work without pay or sufficient customer satisfaction.
A smoked out Cheech & Chong could do better or at least be more entertaining as they fumble. Even though I lost time and patience with Home Depot, the replacement guy who eventually came did a decent job.
