Eyebrow Plus

Went 15 min before they closed and told me they wouldn’t do my eyebrows ! Seriously? Guess they don’t want the money. Bad service !

I have had an Eyebrow Plus membership for close to five years. There has been one incident prior to today’s that had me dissatisfied as a customer. My quarterly membership had been expired for some months now due to being unemployed. On September 25, 2014 I receive a text from them saying, «We miss you, receive a free eyebrow service on your next visit, text yes to claim» so I text yes to claim and it said come in by October 16,2014 to redeem.
I decide to go in today because the brows are long overdue. I show the woman my text and she tells me I have to pay for today’s service and get a free one next time. I said, that’s not what the message says. She proceeds to reach someone via landline and cell. Crickets. She gives in to give me the service. My brows look good. After, I hand her a $ 10 bill requesting change to tip get in spite of non customer service demeanor. Get this… she holds the bill up in the air to check if it’s legit. Really? Smh. I gave her a tip and left.
Let me not forget how she’s cut me by my left eye with the thread. I see a small knick, it stings.

For the past year since I started getting my eyebrows done, I’ve been going to the same salon I always go to, to get my eyebrows waxed, but after they burned me and ripped off a layer of skin the last time I was there, I decided to look for a new place. I decided to try threading because I was growing out my eyebrows to get them reshaped and from what I heard, threading vs. waxing gives a better shape. (and I also heard waxing can cause wrinkles! yikes!) Plus, I’ve been threading my own lips for years and I had an idea of what it was like. My friend recently got her eyebrows done and I was in love with them and she told me it was a store somewhere in bayfair but she didn’t know the name of it. I went to bayfair looking for that store and I saw Eyebrow Beauty which I assume it was the one she was talking about, but there was someone getting their eyebrows done already so I decided to walk around the mall first and come back. While walking, I saw the eyebrow plus little booth kiosk thing and decided to just go there. The lady was Indian and had a very strong accent. I couldn’t understand her very well but she was very understanding on how I wanted my eyebrows. She very nicely helped me with stretching my eye (since I’m a first timer, I had no idea how to!) and handed my tissues for my waterfall eyes (yes, threading is a painful process!!) The first time she did them, I didn’t think they were arched enough and she redid them without complain. When she was done the second time, I saw that they were very thin and that’s not how I wanted them. I was kind of upset but thanked her and of course, tipped her for her work. (eyebrows cost $ 15 by the way) After I left I examined my eyebrows more and little details were getting to me. One side was thicker than the other, the other side looked messy, blah blah blah. I was mad. But after maybe a few hours after that, I started to accept my eyebrows and actually pay attention to how nice the shape is. Although my left eyebrow is still messier than the right, I let it go because I realized no one had two perfectly identical eyebrows and it’s a hard mission to even get them to be super super close. Now, I’m actually kind of upset at myself for not getting the 3 month deal because it’s totally worth it and I’ll definitely be back! At the time, I figured I’m not always at bayfair so nah I don’t need one but now I think I’ll go back everytime I need them done.

This place is fantastic! Service is sweet, fast and thorough. I’m very particular about my brows and had the hardest time finding a place in the Eastbay after moving here.
So glad I decided to get the unlimited package, although I wish it were only for 3 monta b/​c I moved back to the peninsula! Oh well I’ll still drive over and get my brows done

This place is really hit or miss. Sometimes they do a great job, others so-​so. I go very infrequently (once every 8 – 10 weeks or so) so I never get the same person. Because I don’t go much, I’ve never bothered with the membership offer. For you hairy ladies, it may make sense. Not so much for me. Although they make me feel very insecure by asking if I need my lip done in addition to my eyebrows.

She did a great job! Only problem she smelled liked a subway sandwich with extra onions, so that’s why I took off a star. Will go back:/ I think, lol!

First visit lady was super nice, haven’t had my eyebrows done in a while so it hurt like a mo-​fo but all in all they came out great!
It’s $ 15 for one visit, so I bought a 3 month membership for $ 50– but she gave it to me for $ 45! So totally worth it!

Don’t go. Eek! methinks hell no.
They took my money at the Emeryville and disappeared from the face of the earth. Stonestown, gone. I can’t reach the San Leandro kiosk because the phone is disconnected. Bad. Very bad.

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!! THEY ARE A SCAM!!! they closed the one in emeryville and stoneridge mall. They really push you to get their membership and they tell you how great it is and all the locations they have. Many people showed up not knowing that they moved. Really bad business ethics. I have a membership at the Emeryville one and the last time i showed up they were gone and a new business took over. they honored my membership for the sake of bay st. Many people showed up trying to use the membership not knowing that they already closed their business. Make sure you call your credit card company to get your money back if you recently got your membership. Not a good business to support.

I originally went to the Stoneridge location in Pleasanton and bought a «membership», which, I was told entitled me to 3 months of services at any of their locations (which, incidentally, included the Bayfair Mall and Tracy Mall locations). So, $ 55 later, I go to the Bayfair location for a touch-​up and I was told that the Pleasanton location was no longer a part of their business. Imagine my surprise! I was told that the Pleasanton location was still telling customers that services can still be obtained at the Bayfair location and that unless I paid for services at the Bayfair location that they could not honor the «membership» card. I felt scammed. I went to the Bayfair location because it was closer to where I live. I contemplated driving another 15 miles to the Pleasanton location, but was just too freaking pissed!

I decided to come to this kiosk, since I had already left the other side of town, and didn’t feel like driving back to Emeryville.
Went and got a clean up… everything was cool, with one exception.
When you’re in the profession where you’re gonna be upcloseandpersonal, one needs to make sure that the hygeine is on point. I understand due to skin allergies, religous beliefs etc. that one chooses to go the ‘natural’ route but you can be natural with out the odor. I’m just sayin…

I’ve been careful about what I put on my face this year since Face Reality Acne Clinic (San Leandro, CA) has helped me out greatly, so I’ve avoided any eye/​lip/​chin waxing & just doing the tweezing @ home, plus my sis advised waxing on ur face for women of color may leave dark marks on a lady’s face when she gets much older. Well my sista has been going to Bayfair Mall’s Eyebrow Plus «threading» station
for the last 3mths, has been very happy w/​their service, & so I tried them out this past Tuesday 10÷6÷09.
LOCATION: Inside San Leandro’s Bayfair Mall. Hallway btw Kohl’s & Macy’s kids dept. I’d suggest to park in parking lot in front of Kohl’s, & just walk through store towards the back… their station is literally right there.
STATION: Only 1 reclinied chair, mirros, & plenty of bright lights for the ladies doing the threading
Takes all forms of pymt. The various ladies that work this threading booth have all been helpful, considerate, appreciatitive, & polite (per my sis). U don’t know what threading is? Here’s a 53 second Youtube clip for ur viewing pleasure
MJ GETS THREADED: Now I totally understand why Sandra S said when she’s brave enough, she’ll try out threading. I’m really glad my eyebrows weren’t terrible & just needed a touch up. The Station Rep, Shani, broke my «eyebrow threading cherry»…and yes, I did tear up. It felt like 5+ plus people twizzing @ my face @ the same time I guess. Short hairs were fine, but snatching out 4 long hairs here, snatch again, snatch out more… wheeew, I was proud to have made it. Since I successfully passed the eyebrows (in my eyes) I let Shani do my chin too. Such a clean look afterwards. I even signed up for a 3mth «Come Often As U Like» deal for 3mths for eyebrows, lip, & chin for $ 70. I’ll definitely make it in here prob once a week… Lord knows if I let things grow in 2weeks time (w/​o any hm maintenance) & try to come back for threading, 4get 1 – 2 tears… oh I will be crying.
GREAT SVC: Overall great service & satisfaction. If you don’t care to sit out in the viewing public while shoppers in the mall (what few there are) walk around you, try ‘em out. I’ll see how the next 3mths treat me ;-)
