I got there around 10AM on a Friday so the selection was small but good. I got a chocolate old fashioned, white sprinkle, a dozen donut holes and a large coffee. The old fashioned was up to expectation and the coffee was fresh. The interior of the coffee shop is old school and brought back memories of getting donuts as kid.

The donuts are very good very good selection but the personality of the owners stinks especially the older woman who has worked there for years you have to make sure you count your change before you leave she’s very rude and nasty

Donut Design is another mom-and-pop store located in a very very small strip mall situated among a liquor store, pizza joint, nail salon, Chinese restaurant, and an insurance company. I’ve been coming here for years all the back to my high school days and now occasionally when I want a quick snack when visiting family in the area. The husband and wife team who own this tiny shop are a wonderful couple who take care of their customers, which is why I always see a loyal following of old timers here especially in the mornings. And now I see the next generation of their family starting to take over the business and are just as friendly, courteous, and caring as their parents. That all said, they have a pretty good assortment of fresh donuts, croissants(these go pretty fast as they make sandwiches, too), giant cinnamon rolls, danish bars, and other baked goods. I got there late and most of their stuff was already gone for the day. But I managed to get my hands on a dozen donut holes(they always stick in a few extra), chocolate old fashioned, and crumb cake. The donut holes were light and fluffy with a nice sweet glaze. The chocolate old fashioned had a great crispy exterior covered with your standard chocolate glaze. The crumb cake donut was moist(and not dense and heavy) like a good cake should be with a nice hint of cinnamon in the crumbs that completely covered this donut along a light sugar glaze. By the way, there’s no way that I finished all of these donuts by myself. I could have, but didn’t, LOL! My personal favorites here in the past have been the apple fritter, bear claw, and glazed raspberry filled(each of these are pretty big in size and scrumptious; they were out of the fritters and claws that morning, which was sad for me but good for them since they sold out). Coffee here is okay(it’s not a specialty café mind you), but nothing is better than having hot java on the spot with your donuts(they also make espresso drinks here, too). If you’re in the San Leandro area, stop by this long-time establishment and grab a few donuts(you should come out with a pink box) to satisfy your sugar cravings. You won’t regret it! Well, maybe the guilt will sink in a few hours later… ;-)

The donuts here are to die for — amazing would be an understatement. My boyfriend & I come get donuts every week. The buttermilk glazed or the glazed old fashion are our favorites. The donut holes are really good too

So far consistent, friendly(I think it’s family ran) and it hits the spot. Seems a little pricy compared to the surrounding donut shops but worth it. There are a few booths, TV and a good selection of donuts, muffins and a couple of pastries.

I have a huge weakness for donuts, and every time I drive by this place I have to force myself not to go in. However, on the rare occasions that I do go, I always order the the sugar donuts that are so soft and fluffy they almost melt in your mouth. I’ve also had their glazed, apple crumb, chocolate, and apple fritter and they did not disappoint! Service is fast and friendly. Needless to say, I’m a fan.

Hands down the best Ham and Cheese Croissants I’ve ever had. Perfectly made in my opinion. The croissant is so crispy and flakey but once you bite into it, it’s warm, soft, and moist. They use a white cheese that isn’t too overwhelming of flavor or sodium despite the generous portion they put in along with the perfect sliced ham, which is warm and generous as well. Every bite you take is delicious, whether it is each ingredient by itself, or the ham and cheese croissant as a whole. Once you give it a try, I’m sure you’ll be a regular customer. I’ve tried their glazed donut holes which are good. Not much to say about them besides that. And the maple donut is great as well. The customer service is great as well. The nice family always smile and greets you and always asks if you need help or if you’d like anything else.

Came here for donut holes with my kids for pretend«tea time», was really milk and donuts holes with their new playset tea cups and dishes. The donut holes were soft/light on the inside w the perfect amount of sweetness. I also had the ham and cheese croissant sandwich(the owner suggested to toast it warm for me) it was cheese melting deliciousness! It was huge and satisfying for my 1:30 late lunch tea time. The owners enjoyed watching the lil kids play and didn’t mind it a bit. The kids needed to use the restroom, so we passed by the equipments used for the donut making. Of course at 1:30pm, all the equipment were already cleaned, wish we could see them in action at 3am(when they come in to bake their fresh donuts daily). 20+ yrs in business! They must be doing donuts right! Gotta love/support our small family run businesses!

Went to Donut Design for the first time last Thursday. I took a bite of my glazed donut upon arriving back home and threw the remainder in the garbage. The first thing I tasted was OLD, STALE oil. It tasted as though they use the same oil for several days.

I have been on the search for awesome donut holes since I moved back to the Bay from Davis in 2007. I finally have found good donut holes! This shop across from the Dollar Tree on Washington Avenue. A dozen donut holes are $ 1.50. I came here at 3:30PM wanting to satisfy my sweet tooth and these holes were still soft and delicious in the afternoon. But there weren’t too many donuts and turnovers left. I’ll have to return in the morning to get the donuts. There were three people working and each one greeted me hello and asked how I was doing. They were very, very nice. I definitely will return to keep trying all the items on their menu. $ 5 minimum to use a credit card.

Donut designs is simply a donut and coffee shop. didn’t see any porn-rated dough boys & gals. menu is the usual: crossaints, ice cream, donuts, coffee, tea, drink: «midnight royal» dark roast(m)1.75, peerless coffee, 5 blends in thermos –strong roast taste bordering on harshness. not smooth. eats: cake-like donut(.80) –coarse cake taste with an hint of sweetness, coffee drips: –sign says doughnuts made daily. place looks too small fo house a «bakery». –quick, friendly service

Fresh donuts! Great coffee! And friendly staff! A great way to start off the morning! If you get there early enough, there’s usually a group of elders off at a side table. They are always having the funniest discussions and I like to listen while I wait

Only two reviews? This little donut shop needs some major Unilocal-lovin’. I really appreciate family-owned small businesses like this. You can taste the sense of pride they have in their products. The crullers, bars, donuts are all very delicious, so take your pick. The people behind the counter are always so sweet and generous with free donut holes… the only place I know of that does that. Seeing senior citizens hang out there brought a smile to my face because it reminded me of my late grandmother.

The apple fritter had a good amount of apples was soft and, to steal a word from Susan W., fluffy, not hard and dry like you find at some places. Definitely above average. The drip coffee(I picked the dark roast one) was weak. Come here for the donuts, not the coffee.
