Mission Optometric Center offers complete eyecare for the entire family. We enjoy caring for patients of all ages from infants to seniors. Our visual examination screens for eye diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, and cataracts. In addition, with state-​of-​the-​art technology we are often able to discover other potentially serious health conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and high cholesterol in the early stages.

We enjoy working with hard-​to-​fit contact lens wearers and are dedicated to finding the right contact lenses (toric, multifocal, dailies and rigid gas permeable lenses) to address each patient’s particular visual needs.

For eyeglasses wearers, we invite you to browse our beautiful dispensary which offers a wide selection of designer eyewear and fashion sunglasses as well as stylish frames for any budget. Our expert opticians will take the time to discuss the latest in lens technology and help you find that perfect frame just for you!

We also offer consultation and co-​management for laser refractive surgery (LASIK) and cataract intraocular lens replacement (Tecnis, Crystalens, and ReSTOR). Our doctors are certified in therapeutics to treat and manage eye infections, corneal abrasions, allergic conjunctivitis and dry eyes.

We have been serving San Juan Capistrano and the surrounding communities for over 35 years and our offices date back to our inception in 1975 by Dr. Charles M. Roberts. Through the years, we have cared for multiple generations of family members and we continue to strive to provide excellent, personalized vision care to each and every patient.

Ryan O.

Business Owner

Dr. Onishi was born and raised in Southern California and resides in South Orange County with his wife and two daughters. His education includes a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California Irvine and a Doctorate of Optometry from the Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton, CA.

Dr. Onishi is the co-​founder of a preschool vision screening program serving San Juan Capistrano and also speaks to seniors about ocular health conditions at local senior centers in the surrounding communities.

His hobbies include spending time with his family, strumming his ukulele, and longboarding at San Onofre Surf Beach.
