Amtrak Station SNC

This station is tucked away in classic San Juan Capistrano. As soon as you get off the train you have a plethora of shops and eateries to choose from.
The Amtrak staff was pleasant and helpful. This will definitely be a once a month trip.

The crew is great and the route is stunning but it’s 2015 and I still cannot get a successful internet connection to support my business needs.

I usually park at this station when I use Amtrak. The Amtrak crews have always been great. The station staff is fantastic– but they are hidden way up in a train car behind a restaurant at the far north end of the station.
The parking is something else again. Last month the machine did not work and you risked coming back to a car that was in a tow yard somewhere instead of where you parked it. This time I came back and found my car broken into, the contents rifled and thrown about the interior. They stole my registration (as a prelude to robbing my home?) flashlights, speakerphone, tools, etc. stolen. The responding officer told me that «sometimes» the lot is patrolled by citizen volunteers.
When one is parked in a marked Amtrak space and there is no train due for hours you become a ripe target for car thieves operating in a lot with no cameras and only occasional volunteer security. I have a functional car alarm so it had to have sounded when it was broken into. BTW it cost over $ 15 to park there for 3 days.
That tears it for me. I’ll park up in Irvine or take another mode of transportation.

Never had an issue and the workers on the train were very helpful when getting my family and I all together on a seat.

I travel to Solana Beach quite a lot from this station. Very nice station and plenty of parking spaces available (both indoor and outdoor). The ticketing office is bit hidden on the northern end of the station and could become a stress factor, when you want to buy a ticket and you have limited time. Apart from that, there are cute little restaurants around, Starbucks, Ruby’s, a petting zoo and of course the Mission. Nice place for taking some classic pictures of the station and the trains.

Nice little station that I’ve stopped at from San Diego to come up to San Juan Capistrano and have a walk about this cute town to check out the Mission and have dinner and then rode the train back to Solana Beach then drove back to my home in San Diego. If you have AAA insurance, make sure to get the discount tickets. It’ll save you some good money.

I really like this station. If you aren’t taking a super early or super late train rides, stop by the shops nearby. It’s such a different, relaxing atmosphere!

I had to get off at this station due to track closures over the holidays. While nothing too exciting was in the station within a few blocks I found a place for lunch and a Starbucks to sit in while waiting for my ride. Its really neat sitting right next to the mission.
