I went to get ice cream here with a class field trip. Tiny place but we all managed to happily get our ice cream :) The mint chip & mocha almond fudge was realllllly yummy on an extremely fresh cone!

Kayla’s Kandies(made by Margot) are really good. The chocolate-dipped apricots are lovely and not overpowered by the chocolate. The Almond-butter crunch are AMAZING and GLUTENFREE(my mom has Celiac Disease, so I’m always looking for something yummy for her to nom). The best part is that Margot is friendly, loving and sweet. This is a small-town business with small-town heart. What more do you want? Frills? Perfection? Go to some corporate place for that junk.

Ugh. Ice cream is my most favorite treat, and I was so disappointed in this shop! I just got a single scoop of the Spumoni, and it was only okay. My husband got the Bing Cherry in a chocolate covered waffle cone and he was disappointed in both the ice cream AND the cone. They also offer chocolates, so I tried the Amaretto Truffle. Yuck! So wasn’t worth the calories. This little shop could be so much better, but instead it’s a super big bummer.

Ice cream is unique and tasty(Lappert’s ice cream). They have 4 choices of sorbet and a few kid friendly choices. 4 stars for the product. Service was poor. We walked in, nobody came out from the back for a minute. She was unfriendly. When she was done scooping, she left the the back. 2 stars for service.

My husband and I were in San Juan Batista at the mission when we came across this little ice cream shop. What a great place. There was a young Mexican man working there and what a sweet heart he is. Very friendly and lets not forget the ice cream. It was GREAT! We will stop there every time where in town that’s for sure. Love the people in San Juan too.

Despite having the crappiest hours ever for an ice cream shop, this place is pretty good.

Mmmmmm! Bing cherry ice cream on a sugar cone! The portions are generous, and the cone did not fall apart, I want another! The only thing that bothered me, and the ice cream parlor really has nothing to do with this, but if you sit out side, you have to smell cigarettes. Someone at the bar next door was smoking, and we had to leave.

On a weekday afternoon, this place had plenty of business… first time we walked by all the seats inside and outside were taken. We had lunch first then returned for a cool treat. The Kauai Pie(macadamia nuts, a touch of coconut bits, chocolate and vanilla like flavors) flavor was delicious. A regular dropped by and said her favorite was the Kona Coffee Truffle or some flavor like that. While it is $ 2.50 for a single scoop on a plain or sugar cone, the young lady gave us heaping scoops/servings. Cute little ice cream parlor.

Lazy Saturday afternoon after we made the kids walk though out SJB. No whinning and no fighting so we went for ice cream. 15.00 for 5 single scoops on cones. I didnt really like my ice cream which was supposed to taste like cookies and cream and somehow tasted like banana ice cream. Funny how that happend. If you live in the area they will be hiring soon they lady at the register asked me if I knew anyone who needed a job I politely said we are simply playing tourists for the day. Never the less I’ll put the word out. So there you have it. Even thought it wasnt super hot it was a really real good frozen treat.

I had Kona Coffee and Praline in a hand-dipped waffle cone covered in almonds. Boyfriend had Pistachio and all the flavors were delicious, and it was quality Lappert ice cream. The scoops were huge and I couldn’t finish with such a heavy cone, but it was delicious none the less. After a play at Teatro Campesino on a summer day, there wasn’t much more to ask for. Staff was friendly and quick, candy on the shelves was covered in dust, but I was there for ice cream, not Nerds and Gummy Bears.

Loved the Lappert ice cream, check out the coconut pineapple which is delectable. Lappert’s has a lot of Hawaiian types of flavors, and is semi-related to the one on the Hawaiian islands. Check their website for more details. Tasty on a hot day.

Wow, people slamming this place? Quality Lappert ice cream with lots of cone choices, shakes, etc. A nice, old friendly family-owned place. Not sure what made a few people so snarky. During the summer, at least, there is a lot of traffic here, so I would doubt the ice cream is old or anything. Looked and tasted normal to me, had a good shake once. $ 3 for a big scoop in a big cone… not so bad these days. BUT, on Sunday, Sunday, Sunday they have Pozole, fabulous pozole, evidently made by the owner. This may be the best Mexican food in town! We got it in take-out form for dinner and breakfast the next day. Just great, but if you have to drive far, get the cabbage on the side so it can be added while crispy. This is a special food treat done very nicely. It will cure most common illnesses as well…(my Samoan attorney says no…) But, only on Sunday. You might call.

The ice cream store is nothing to write home about but they do have Lapperts and the interior is weathered enough to make me think I am back in Kauai for a moment. Well that and the roosters that run around San Juan Bautista. They have a nice variety of ice cream flavors and the kids enjoyed the treat.

Margot’s is an «okay» place. They’ve got a neat little sign and a decent interior with candy/sweets on shelves. The ice cream is Lappert’s brand, which is good on its own, so no real complaints there. The place may be a San Juan Bautista staple, but it’s not a big deal to me. When visiting SJB, I prefer to get ice cream from«La Esquinita» down the street. It’s a tiny place run by a very friendly man, and contains some great flavors, including cantaloupe! Yum! I don’t know what brand of ice cream he carries, but I’ve never been disappointed. Well, except once, when I discovered he had to reduce his storefront space, making the tiny place even smaller. But I digress… Margot’s is «meh».

Every time we go to SJB we always have to have ice cream from Margot’s. We love the Hawaiian Lappert’s ice cream! My favorite is the Kona Coffee ice cream. Today the Lappert’s flavors available were: Heavenly Hana — Creamy chocolate ice cream w/swirls of marshmallow twith chunks of white chocolate covered macadamia nuts, dark chocolate almond chunks, chocolate bits & roasted almonds. Kauai Pie — Kona coffee ice cream swirled w/chocolate fudge, coconut flakes, macadamia nuts and vanilla cake crunch Chocolate Macadamia Nut

Pretty weak root beer float I had here, the equivalent of a full can of root beer and a tablespoon of ice cream. The ice cream was pretty good though. Maybe be more specific than me if you want to get something here
