DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS!!! I cannot stress enough how horrible these guys are. I used them in November because my original moving company decided when they got to my place that they wanted to double their original quote… Different story for another time… So I called Zorn moving out of desperation and didn’t check their reviews before I hired them. The owner seemed nice the first time I spoke to him but everything changed when his guys got to my place.
When they arrived, they came in to look at the job and walked out cursing the f-​word all the way back to their truck… he had no idea I was behind him and heard every word, including calling me a F-​ing bitch… I know, I should have fired them for that but as I said, I was desperate, it was a Saturday afternoon and I needed to be out of my place by that night. So, after I asked if there was a problem and was told no, I was handed one of the movers cell phones where the owner, Mr. Jim Zorn, rudely informed me that they were only making one trip so if all my stuff didn’t fit on the truck, I was out of luck. I know… strike 2!
Fast forward to me unpacking… They didn’t bother to wrap my dining table in anything and completely broke off a corner of the table causing me to have to replace it. When I called to let Mr. Zorn know is, he very rudely informed me that he would only pay $ 0.60 per pound and his guys said that the table was already chipped when they moved it and it only weighed 20 lbs so he would only give me $ 12. Then I noticed that some things were missing. When I let Mr. Zorn know this he scoffed at me like it was no big deal and refused to cover the items that were missing. Thankfully it was nothing valuable but I still felt violated that they would steal from me.
I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and in every response from Mr. Zorn, he claimed that everything was delivered, that I lived in a bad neighborhood, that I had boxes stacked on an open patio (even though my patio is surrounded by a 6 foot fence with bushes lining the outside of it and I have a very protective large breed dog), that I was a liar, and that I had accused his men of taking other items that then reappeared.
Mr. Zorn did send me 2 checks, one for $ 24 to cover the table (which cost me $ 200 to replace) and one for $ 20 (to show good will, as he put it) for the missing items.
The bottom line is this, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, especially if you are a woman as it seems that from the way he treated me, Mr. Zorn believes that women are stupid.

It was very upsetting to find out that precious personal items were missing after having Zorn company provide the moving service. Four rings, a necklace, a sapphire earring, a camera and an ipod have been missing since the day Zorn moved my belongings. I have filed a police report because I moved my jewelry box to my new home prior to Zorn movers taking the rest of my belongings to my new home. Someone had to find my jewelry box and take items from it. That’s a theft, not negligence.

We hired them in our recent move from Cupertino to San Ramon — local trip.
They did not arrive on time, had to keep calling Jim on where they are
The crew kept complaining on our packing style and number of boxes
Couple of boxes were missing — seriously !! Some personal items — goggles/​sunglasses, iPhone and some jewelry went missing in transit
They dumped most of the stuff in the garage saying they are heavy
they did not arrive straight — they took a lunch break for 2 couple of hours, and we kept waiting in San Ramon for them to show up.
So, I would be careful before I recommend them to other customers of you.
The owner seems to be a nice guy, but the crew could be more nicer

I hesitate to give this business any star.
We used them to move our apartment belongings from San Mateo to Tahoe. Along the way, we asked them to stop by our house in Pleasanton to pick up a bike and a day bed and we agreed to pay extra for that. When they stopped by our house in Pleansanton, the movers broke our mailbox post without telling us on the spot (the movers did admit it after we talked to the owner of the business). At the destination, we noticed that a few boxes were missing, which include the most valuable things (one would wonder) we had in the apartment — a Bose speaker and a Samsung Blue Ray player, as well as some kitchen pots, pans and valuable bone china vases.
We talked to the owner Jim who seemed to be very down to earth when he first showed up to give the estimate of the move. He simply told us that all he could do is to cut us a check of $ 150 based on the insurance.
I simply cannot recommend this business to anyone.

We had a great experience with Zorn movers. They were recommended from a local parent list. Two families had recently used them to relocate from the Bay Area to LA which was what we needed.
After calling seven moving companies, including the one where you pack a box/​crate and they move it, Zorn had the lowest estimate by nearly $ 400.
The crew showed up on time and worked diligently throughout both days. They were polite, respectful, and good humored despite the chaos that comes with moving.
I highly recommend them!

These guys are OK, but you have to stay on top of them.

GOOD
If you get a good crew, they are fact, efficient and helpful. However, as with all movers, crews can be inconsistent.
Polite, on time.
They wrap most delicate items
They were very careful not to bang door frames or walls.
Decent pricing; stuck to estimate, no hidden fees or trickery.
BAD
Don’t have them move anything too delicate. I would use them mostly for furniture and appliances. I don’t think they have the right experience or equipment to move delicate things (pianos, etc)
Stay on top of them. They were no show for one appointment they say we did not schedule. Double check and verify everything.
When you call, make sure you emphasize what is being moved so they are bringing the right gear. I told them we had a fridge and organ to move but the message didn’t make it to the crew. They managed, but had a real potential to cause damage for lack of the correct dolly.
There was a big scratch in a table. I can’t say for sure that they did it, but it wasn’t there before the move.
In summary: They’re OK, a good, honest moving outfit. If you want white glove or more consistent crews, be sure to move on and pay more. For most moving jobs, these guys will be fine and if you get a really good crew they will be downright impressive. A good value for the money.

They showed up on time. They got the job done quickly and carefully. They were pleasant to deal with. The final price was cheaper than originally quoted. What more do you want from a moving co. I will definitely use them again.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Just yesterday I had Zorn move a baby grand piano from one room in my house to another. I told the owner when I first called that the piano would be going up 7 wide stairs. Unlike other companies I called I was not asked any details about how far it would be moved, what type of flooring we had, etc.
My appointment was set for 9 – 9:30am (planned on taking an hour or so of work off). The THREE men did not arrive until 9:40 (no phone call) and by 11am the piano had moved 10 feet. They ended up needing to call one more guy to help them (WHICH ENDED UP COSTING US $ 60 MORE) get up the staircase and by the time he arrived it was well after 11:30. It took until 12:30 for the piano to be situated in the room. (Meanwhile I am losing half a day’s work and ended up not going back in due to the mess that they left)
From the moment the Zorn employees arrived at my home I was shocked by their language and demeanor. Right away the acted as if they had something better to be doing and every other word was f*ck or sh*t. They even went as far as to mock my husband and I when we started asking if they would be able to get the job done.
To top it all off, our home was pretty severely damaged during the three hours Zorn was there. We were left with a hole in the wall, several scratches and scraps on our wood flooring and stair railing, a horribly scratched threshold and front door, and slight damage to our piano. I will post pictures as soon as I can.
I called the owner as soon as the movers left and expressed all of my concerns but was not offered a sincere apology. Instead I was told over and over that «this is a very unusual situation» and that he would need to speak to his employees before taking full responsibility. At one point he tried to defend them saying «now wait a minute, these are PROFESSIONAL piano movers.», which I find funny because the movers were loudly complaining about having to move my piano and another later this week.
I can understand the difficulty of the task, but I cannot believe that these were «professional» piano movers. When the piano was originally brought to my home less than a year ago, ONE man did all of the work himself (Howard’s Piano Moving in Santa Cruz, WONDERFUL guy) which included getting the piano up 6 stairs.
The only reason we used this company over several others (that quoted me less money and time) is because they were available sooner.

I think the biggest problem I had with Zorn was simply the poor customer service. When I called the person at (408) 227‑1744, I felt he was extremely impatient, unprofessional, and not approachable. When I was trying to describe the items that I wanted to deliver from my apartment to a house, I felt I was more arguing than explaining my items. I wanted to end the phone call half way in. What was worse was that the quote was still more expensive than the competitors even with the discount. Even if the quote was lower, I would still not choose the company for my moving services.

I bought a secondhand upright piano from a private seller on Craigslist, and searched for local piano moving companies online. The first place I found never returned my calls or emails, so I called Zorn, got an estimate over the phone, and scheduled an appointment for the very next day. The next day, the movers called to let me know they were 15 minutes away – and then arrived exactly 15 minutes later. They obviously had experience moving 800 pound pianos, and the whole transaction was quick and easy. (They didn’t even roll their eyes when I expressed concern about my hardwood floors – they came prepared to protect the floor.) I’ve only had one experience with this company but I highly recommend them.
