I have never eaten like this bad hot pot… not tasty and no air con. It doesn’t worth it. It like just worth $ 8 –10 but it cost $ 14 I’m not a picky person. it really so bad!!!

1) Waited 20min and got seated, but waited another 15min to get a menu. The people seated after us got menu and food before us. No water for drink while waiting. We felt totally being forgot in the center of the restaurant. 2) again, waiting another 15 min after ordered and told us, «we don’t have rice anymore«without giving us any other options ! 3) Food came finally. No bowls for eating, only HOT pots, and no chopsticks, only paper wrap of disposable chopsticks… and my ordered plum juice finally came after eating for 20min. 4) When I asked them to stop the fire for the hotpot, they said. Oh, this fire is almost done just wait. And they talked loudly with each other saying. «Oh why it’s only 9 pm… oh because it’s weekend! « * Bad service * Bad working attitude

If you love hotpot type of food, then this is the place for you. I usually order the beef hotpot with 0.5 spicy level. The broth is flavorful and taste just right. If you don’t like salty food, then you might not like it here. I prefer my food flavorful, so the broth tasted good. Overall, this place is decent and it’s great now because you don’t have to wait so long for a table.

Oh my goodness, it hurts so good! Or in this case, burns… I came here on a crisp Friday night for some hot pot. The space is quite small, yet still attracting plenty of people wanting to warm themselves up. They definitely came to the right place. Wu Ji has a spice scale of 1 – 5. 1 is mild like a gentle breeze, while 5 is LAVAERUPTINGFROM A VOLCANOTHATHASLAIDDORMANTFORCENTURIESANDISABOUTTOWREAKDESTRUCTIONONEVERYTHING. My dinner partner, who has a tolerance for spiciness, opted for a factor of 2. Me, being the idiot I am at determining my own tolerance, opted for 4. That was a mistake. My lamb mala pot($ 15.95, comes with a plate of lettuce and an option of rice or noodles, and) was delicious. Decent portions all around. I only wish I was able to finish it, as by the time I managed to sneak past the half way point, I was sweating, sobbing, and panting uncontrollably. I was a wreck. I would like to come back and try it again with a lower spiciness level so as to fully enjoy the meal, but from what I was able to taste last Friday, I thought this place was quite decent.

I feel like i don’t need to mention much since it’s the same opinion as everyone else’s who has already reviewed this restaurant. Summary/Break-down — — — — — — — — — — — — — — – –Bad service, they don’t care about how you feel. period. —one time my friend found a hair in her food and they didn’t care at all; it’s common sense to accommodate us. We shouldn’t need to ask twice for them to make us a new bowl –Food is definitely what keeps us coming back RECOMMENDATIONS: — — — — — — — — — — — — — — – ~house special pot/choose your meat; i like lamb(their spice is REALASIANSPICE so please don’t choose a crazy level because it’s super spicy) ~DON’T FORGETTHEDIPPINGSAUCE; dip your meat, mushroom, EVERYTHANG w/it. *tip-i feel like when you make a to-go order rather than dining, you get a lot more soup and bigger portions. If you’re the type to like the dipping sauce and want to make a to-go, you are required to bring your own sauce cup. yup… they don’t provide it. Two stars just for the food. Sad to say that i’m one of those people who will still make business with them even though their service sucks. Any other place, i’d be like bai felicia

I love the food here taste so good but service is absolutely terrible took 15 minutes to get out water one of our tables food was missing for 25 additional minutes and when our second part of our party came in they took their order and repeated it back to us and when one of our bowls didn’t come out they insisted we only ordered one less of our pots. Word of advice don’t argue with your customers. I manage a restaurant and I come very understanding to know what they are coming from but I’m sorry terrible service. if i could give this place 0 starts I absolutely would for the service. Tried this place out since it was close to my work place and I was excited because I love hot pot! *Warning: the broth here can be really spicy. It ranges from a 0.5−5 and the server told me that 1 is considered a medium… so be careful! Haha. There was no wait for our party of 4 since we came right when they opened at 6pm. I ordered the beef mala pot with a side of ramen noodles. When it came out, I thought the pot was really small so I had to take out extra cabbage, some raw meat that they just stacked on top, and as for the ramen. I had to break it in half and put in a half first. Presentation wise 0 stars. It’d be better if they put raw meat on the side instead. it could be health hazardous. The broth was amazing and had the perfect spice level. Towards the end it became really salty, strong, and the broth became very dark. I think because all the meat was being cooked at once sooo next time I will definitely tell them to put it on the side. Not much service going on but I probably will come back to try their lamb hot pot!

Uhm… pass. 2 stars for the food, 1 star for our nice waitress I’ve been wanting to try this place for a long time now. Sad to say it’s just not for me. This is a small restaurant so definitely don’t come in a group bigger than 4. The fire stove thingy + the pot is too high that it’s hard to see/pick things out. Then when I scooped some food in my bowl and leaned down to put it in my mouth I swear I thought my eyebrows or hair was gonna catch on fire because the flames were blowing right at me. Maybe because I ordered the Ramen noodles, but after barely cooking it, the soup started getting all thick and gooey… that leads me to talk about the broth. I got the beef mala pot level 3. The spice level was good enough for me to handle but it’s filled with a ton of chili oil. Like a lot. It’s just too greasy. And salty too. Anyways since my soup was already thick and gooey from the beginning, can you imagine how much more thick it got towards the end? I totally understand that soup broth evaporates but this was just like a paste and of course got even more salty. And I don’t even understand the purpose of that Chinese bbq satay sauce dip they give you because the soup is so salty as it is and then there’s just too many flavors going on that don’t compliment one another. I’m glad I came on Unilocal beforehand and saw that it’s cash only so I came prepared… but I agree with other Unilocalers that at $ 15+ a bowl it doesn’t make sense. Good for you Wuji for the tax evasion but sorry you guys aren’t worth it :(

A simple menu but it works. If you want a small personal sized pot and you enjoy spicy food, this place is worth a try. Their menu really only has two options. A House pot and the Mala pot. The Mala pot is the one that is spicy and their rating system starts at 3, but a 3 is already decently hot. Basically, it’s Hot, Hotter, and Super Hot. If you want mild, go for the House pot, it isn’t spicy at all. Then each option has all the same ingredients with only the difference of main ingredient(meat/seafood). So you choose your main ingredient and the rest are set. No fancy ingredients but their portion was just right(at least for me) and if it isn’t for you, you can always add on extra items.

I’m obsessed with Wujis! I try to go atleast once a week. My fav is the level 4 beef mala pot with rice. My bf & I usually share since I don’t like the ingredients in the pot. Since we do share we usually just orders sides to share like wuji beef, glass noodles, meat balls, or fish balls. My fav thing about wujis is the Napa cabbage, it’s just so yummy when the soup gets soaked into it. The service depends on who you get, I love the girl with the short hair, her name is Vanessa. She’s actually nice & doesn’t complain when you ask for things. Tips: –If your done cooking everything in your pot. Ask them to turn off the fire. Your pot will keep boiling to a thick paste which isn’t good! Your soup will still be hot when you turn it off. –Cook your meat first if you don’t like it over cooked & ask them for a bowl to put it in. –Come when they open so you don’t have to wait! –Ask for the bbq dipping sauce! — And If you can’t handle the spiciness, a beer will help :)

CASHONLY. Individual hotpots. You either love or you hate this place. Ask anyone who’s been here. Haha. Don’t expect much from the waiters or the ambience, just eat and go. I didn’t like this place at all the very first time I tried it but then I started craving the SPICY, mouth numbing broth. 3 years later. I’m still eating here at least once a month. Some days it hits the spot, other days it tastes like I’m eating hot chili oil but I haven’t found any other hotpot place that offers the same spice levels as Wuji’s. They’ve changed owners over the years, prices have gone up and the meat portions have gotten smaller but it still doesn’t prevent me from coming back! I usually get their beef($ 16.50) or pork($ 15.50) mala pot, level 2(3 if I want to shiet fire) with a side of meatballs and bean thread wide noodles(clear chewy noodles!). The MALA pots are the spicy ones with spice levels ranging from 0.5 to 5. These pots have fish ball, beef tendon, stewed tripe, pork intestines and tofu. For those who don’t like organ meats, they also have regular house pots but they’re not spicy. Those have tofu, tomato, shrimp, fish ball, mushroom and corn. I’ve never had their house pots but the broth looks milky. All their pots come with a plate of sliced napa cabbage and your choice of rice or glass noodles. Don’t forget to ask for their«bbq» dipping sauce and vinegar to dip your meats! Order a soda with ice too, it’ll help with the burning sensation. *you can request the house special pots ingredients with MALA broth but there’s an extra charge!*

Definitely one of my go-to places for hot pot in the Bay Area. The best part of it would be the soup! Just a level 0.5 or 1 is spicy enough for me but they go up to level 5. The boyfriend and I got the pork hot pot with house ingredients; came with rice or glass noodles, a plate of pork, cabbage, and a lot of other hot pot sides that are already inside the pot(like corn, tempera, shrimp, tofu etc). Ask for the BBQ sauce, it makes all the food taste even better. The downside to this place is that they only open for around 5 hours a day, so come early because theres usually a line of people waiting outside before each opening time. & for some reason they’re closed 2 days a week. WHY? Whenever my boyfriend & I come home for the weekend we always try to eat here before we leave on Monday, but nope… always a disappointment when we pull up their Unilocal review and it says closed SUNDAY and MONDAY. How can they choose to be closed on a Sunday… maybe they make enough during the weekdays that it doesn’t matter? :/

FOOD I’m a fan! Mala hot pot is definitely spicy wow. A level 1 out of 5 was too spicy for me. I like how you get noodles or rice. And a plate full of cabbage to cook with. You can take leftovers home too. And you can ask for some sauce. Cutest little hot pot ever. You can get your own or share at a table. Pay cash only! INSIDE is small so it looks packed all the time with people usually waiting outside. Looks like they sometimes do outside seating if the weather permits. OVERALL I liked this place. It’s different than a regular sit down restaurant because it’s fun to boil your own food in front of you. We came right before it opened so we were the second people inside on a Fri night. But after when we left there were people waiting outside.

Tips: The soup is really HOT, and by it I mean both spicy and boiling. I think level 2 is spicy enough for most people. The soup is boiling, so you should ask for a bowl and have it in there instead of eating directly from the pot. On my first visit, I was impressed because of the portion and ingredients in there. The put tripe and different things in the pot(can’t remember all the ingredients). However, on my second visit, I realized that the broth only had Mala flavor(probably just Mala based soup) and salty at the end, unlike Boiling Point where the broth is very flavorful with vegetables and chicken/pork based soup. It’s good to go to this restaurant on a cold winter night.

If you want good huo guo that reminds you of back home, this is the place. Tucked away with little atmosphere and a line out the door, the focus of this place is the food and their well-flavored broth. I’ve been here a handful of times over the last couple years and have always left with a happy tummy. Only once was my hotpot«not as good as I remembered it.» A solid go-to place for 1 – 3 friends. For bigger groups(and bigger prices), there is Little Sheep, but I prefer this place.

I would come here to get my hot pot fix whenever I’m too lazy to drive to my favorite spot(Little Dipper) I give them 4 stars because I love their dipping sauce! Other than that, sometimes service sucks and I don’t like how they added the meat INTO the hot pot now instead of the meat being on the side.

Small restaurant, so you might have to wait a bit. Service sucks! You have to ask twice for everything-water, bill, etc. because they won’t bring it the first time. I believe they changed their burners here, so it’s better now. However, the place still smells like gas. I like how you can adjust the level of spice and it actually is spicy unlike most places where extra spicy isn’t even spicy. Make sure you ask for the dipping sauce, it’ll make all the difference to dip your meat & veggies in!

If you are looking for a really spicy hot pot place. You should come here! My friend and I got here at the right time. There was an empty seat for us. We both got spicy beef hot pots. My friend got a spicy level 2. I got a spicy level 1. Yea, I chickened out on the spicy level. Wasn’t sure if I could take it. The spice level 1 was perfect. I don’t know if I could take it anymore spicier then that. The beef pot came with mushrooms and cabbage. If you would like any additional things to put in your pot, such as enoki mushrooms, noodles, or other veggies, you would need to pay extra. Overall, a busy place and it’s definitely good on a cold night.

We went there near closing and they were so rude to us. I feel like they couldn’t wait for us to leave. Even though we were the only table there, they offered no service, didn’t even give us water until we went to the counter to ask. The guy asked me what I wanted to order before he even gave me a menu for me to look at… I got the beef Mala bowl and I definitely did not think it was worth $ 15. The broth was decent and the food was alright but nothing special. You cannot adjust the flame so when it gets too hot you have to ask them to put out the flame… and after they put it out my food got cold but I didn’t feel like bothering them again to light it. I didn’t want the intestine in my food and asked if I could substitute it for veggies or like more noodles, the guy said no. He got annoyed when I asked him again, so, no substitutions which is ridiculous. Definitely would not come back, only came here because someone suggested it and it was the only thing nearby and still open at the time.

Their service is holy crap. The server pointed a seat right next to the door where it’s really cold but we’d wanted to sit somewhere far from the door and warm. It was around 8:40pm and there were lots of empty seats, but the server insisted the seat we wanted was for party of 3 people or more and we only have 2 people. Thankfully the owner is not as stupid and rude as the server and she let us sit where we wanted to, otherwise we would have just left. Food wise we ordered a spicy beef pot. They do have distinct flavor but it’s a little expensive for a small pot charges 16 $. Oh by the way, we never want to see the server’s deadpan face again.

Another bookmark completed! After having bookmarked this place for years, I finally had he chance to try this out! I lived near Wu Ji’s for over 8 years and haven’t had the chance to go try it. Like what everyone said, don’t expect much from the service. My friend and I waited over 15 minutes for them to take our order even after calling them over to us twice. We even beat the lunch rush bc there will be a long wait. Eating hot pot takes time! I ordered the Beef Mala Pot level 4 spicy because I can handle the spice. My friend on the other hand ordered the same thing but 0.5. The food took a while to come out but when it finally came out, we just dug in. I was happy to see tendon and beef intestine in the pot! Normally it’s pre cooked beef slices and miscellaneous items, but tendon was so good. There was glass noodles, tofu, raw sliced beef, intestine, tripe and lots of cabbage. They even have the cabbage on a separate place for you if you wanted more. You can also order sides to go with your hot pot such as ramen noodles, egg, enoki mushrooms and more! It’s a little costly. The portions are pretty big. You can honestly share one pot and order more sides. I think I’m going to do that next time bc there was so much food! I took the rest of it for to go and it’s going to be a gr8 dinner. Just a friendly reminder that this place is CASHONLY. Which sucks because it’s like $ 15-$ 17 a pot and imagine bringing a family here so you’d have to carry a lot of cash on you. SOBRINGCASH. My friend unfortunately forgot it was cash only and he walked to the GEN plaza for an atm. Wished they had one in the actual place itself. It would have been much more convenient.

We ordered 2 soup bases. One is House pot, and the other is House Mala pot. The house pot is basically creamy and. nothing else. Quite bland and boring soup base. The House Mala pot is better. Very unique, a little bit salty and herbal tastes at the end. Super spicy for the normally spicy one, to me. If you are able to tolerate all kinds of chillies Mexican foods offers, then the hot one is for you. If not, just go with the spicy or mild one. Lamb wins over beef. Don’t hesistate ordering 2 pots with both lambs. We regretted that we did not do that. Order extra if lambs in the pot are not enough for you. I mean seriously $ 15 for a pot with only couples slices of lamb/beef. Who they think I am? Bill Gates?! And so, last thing, pricy hotpot place comparing to others.

I’ve heard so many mixed reviews about this place that I was hesitant to try it or even wait over 30 minutes for it. Luckily, I moved right across the street so I figured, why not try it now? I’ve been here twice now and I’m glad I did! I never had a problem with waiting for a table and got sat right away both times. They set you up and have you order fairly quickly. Both times I ordered the Lamb Mala Pot with a side of ramen noodles and an egg. You can choose a spicy level 1 – 5! I recommend going lower first because this stuff is no joke! Definitely kicks and spicy cravings I have off the curb! I really enjoyed the food and the spiciness of it really satisfied my taste buds! I know a lot of people complain about service here, but both times I have yet to have a problem. Everything was quick and efficient. Whenever anything was needed, it was not hard to get. The only downside is this place is Cash Only but I don’t really have a problem with that.

Only come if your friend is craving for this and you are a spicy hot pot lover. But be prepared to pay 30% — 50% more than anywhere else such as Tasty pot. Is it worth it? I don’t think so. Restaurant is dirty with oil stains everywhere on the wall, thus it’s difficult to trust the cleanness inside the kitchen. Service is pretty bad. You are pretty much on your own after you start eating. They won’t come to refill soup or water, and you need to go to the cashier to pay. Cash only.

Tasty, individual hot pot! Spice level 2 is idea to enjoy because level 1, you cant taste it! Comes with a side of cabbage and glass noodles or rice. Major dislike: the flame keeps the broth boiling, it becomes a facial, rushed to eat or move the food into your soup bowl… Had to ask the waitress to put the fire out.

When you go to a typical hot pot, you may expect a big plate of thinly sliced meat filling the surface of the plate. This place gives you a big plate of thinly sliced lettuce. Don’t be fooled by the line and the wait. There are better options a little drive away. Value /Food — 1⁄5 $ 14.50 for a beef hot pot but a very stingy portion. 5 slices of meat, 2 cubes of tofu, 2 fish cake balls, 2 shrimps, and a lot of lettuce. There are plenty of hot pot places(tasty pot, HIT) that offers a lot more for $ 10 – 11. Menu items go from $ 13.50 — $ 17.50 depending on what sort of meat you want(pork, beef, shrimp). The soup was actually decent. Light flavor but it makes it a nice soup to drink at the end of your meal. Service — 1⁄5 I’m not sure if they were just understaffed or having a bad day. Unfriendly and rushed. Asked if I wanted rice or noodle. Said rice, they brought noodles. Never came again. Water empty. Environment /Cleanliness — 1⁄5 Unclean and small. Dust everywhere along their nice and pink sloppily done wall paint. If they don’t dust off their walls in their small restaurant, imagine what their kitchen looks like. They stack their plates of lettuce when they bring it out. Forget about being sanitary. Can’t recommend this place. At $ 15, you would have a more satisfied stomach and wallet elsewhere. Oh, cash only.

This update is specifically for the«healthy hazardous» reasons for the meat being served in the pot. IMO it’s BS and they probably just don’t want to wash extra dishes. *I’ve also been eating level 5 and they don’t seem to be consistent with the spice. Some days it will taste a little spicy and other days it isn’t spicy at all. Service is still the same — bad. But some of the workers seem a little nicer now.

Whenever my friend and I crave for some really spicy hot pot during the winter this is the place we go to. You get to pick the level of spiciness ranging from 0 – 5. We usually get either a 1 or a 2 as it can get really spicy to point where your nose is dripping. They take their spice levels very serious so be cautious. Both my friend and I usually order the beef mala hot pot with a side of rice. The hot pot comes with a slices of beef, cabbage, tofu, mushroom, fish balls, intestines, beef tendon, tripe, and the boiling red broth that’s mixed with different Taiwanese spices. Trust me it’s good if you can handle the level of spiciness that this place has to offer. It’s so good! The only reason why this place is getting four stars instead of five is that the service here is awful. Sometimes the waiters can be rude and completely ignore you. You constantly have to ask for refills on water and for ice. They don’t provide you ice unless you ask for it.

Many of my friends raved how good this spot was for hot pot, especially fans of spicy. I ordered my spicy level as 0.5 because I can’t handle TOO much spicy without sweating, plus, all friends scared me saying how spicy it was! I went with the Beef Mala Pot and to be honest, I was not very impressed. Yeah, the broth lived up to it’s name of being pretty spicy, but the meat and other stuff inside the pot just wasn’t the best I’ve had. The meat overcooked, the tofu crumbled, and the tendon/tripe or whatever was just too gooey. Besides the spiciness, the hot pot itself didn’t have all that much flavor. I wish they provided sauce on the side or something to dip the meat in! If you’re a table of 2, expect to sit SUPER close to each other, so close, that you might as well be one big table because the gap between tables is so small, you can’t even walk between them! This annoyed me slightly because I do not like sitting so close to strangers while they sip and splatter their hot pot broth everywhere. Besides the fact the place looks like a Tapioca Express or Quickly, the service is friendly and they speak good enough English to be able to ask questions about the menu.

Whenever I craved spicy hot pot, this used to be my go to spot when I was in high school, but over the years, I really don’t understand what happened to this place. The way the food is presented and brought out is also different than when they used to back then. The quality isn’t as good as it used to be anymore, and the service is just purely disappointing. I ordered the beef pot, with level two spiciness, and a side of ramen. The order took almost half an hour to come out, and my side of ramen was no where to be found until I mentioned that it wasn’t there. The broth was very salty, and I couldn’t eat it without pouring my cup of water into the pot to try to dilute the saltiness. On top of my disappointing pot of salt broth and beef, there was also disappointing customer service. «We» are guests at the store, therefore, servers, need to ATLEASTATTEMPT to give good customer service. I’ve never seen someone frown so much and give so much attitude than when I came here. She was so unhappy and frowned all the time while working. When my table and I asked for something all she did was frowned, said okay, and walked away. Oh. and she came back with nothing. The guy with the glasses however, really tried to smile and give us some sort of customer satisfaction. But everything just threw me off. The owners at the cashier didn’t even say anything. She was rolling her eyes, frowning, and talking about us behind our backs in another language, thinking that none of us understood. well, we did understand, and we’re not coming back. Thank you for my last meal here.

Not very many people know what it’s like to be a spicy food lover… It’s hard to explain the struggles that go behind it all… trying to sift out the venues that provide authentic spicy food versus those wannabe’s, where you opt for«Spicy», yet it still tastes like«No Spice». You’re better yet eating a plain ol’ cardboard for goodness sakes. *thumbs down* The struggle is r-e-a-l. So, when I finally heard about Wuji’s from my spicy food lover friends, I immediately bookmarked it to go on my bucket list, and told myself, this place MIGHT just be the real deal… and after I had a taste for myself last Monday, I think it’s safe to say, that I almost reached entire bliss. Upon looking at the menu, I had to ask myself, «what is the highest possible level of spice?» Fortunately, a party of two beside us were rather helpful and told us that it would be best to opt for a «level 2»(out of 5, with 5 being the«spiciest») Mala Pot, and that’s IF you’re already accustomed to Szechuan-style normal spice. If you’re on the more conservative side of things and wish to go below Level 2, they told me they wouldn’t really recommend going here as the broth tastes ENTIRELYDIFFERENT once you go below 2. This was the opinion of the other party, not me. With that said, I opted for the Pork Mala Pot($ 9.85) in «level 2» while my significant other, who’s more of the mellow type, opted for .5(yes this level exists. lol). Once my pot arrived, I was utterly ecstatic to see my boiling red broth, filled with my slices of pork, cabbage, tofu, mushroom, fish ballzzz, intestine, been tendon, stewed tripe, glass noodles, and loads and loads of various Taiwanese-style spices. One sip of my broth got me immediately coughing, and that’s when i knew I immediately fell in love. Call me crazy, but I’m sure all you spicy lovers feel me on this one! This type of food is intended for those who are only accustomed to the burning, tingly sensation that one gets when eating truly authentic spicy food. The broth, being as spicy and flavorful as it was, had completely taken over the meat, veggies, and tofu, thus making it incredibly flavorful and unlike something I had experienced at other hot pot places. The spice will stick to you throughout your dining experience and won’t leave. It’s that powerful. On the other hand, the significant other’s level .5 broth looked entirely different, and tasted different too. It can be comparable to that of a Spicy Miso at other hot pot venues. Nonetheless, still tasty and satisfying. At one time during my meal, I had this crazy thought in my head saying, «maybe I can opt for a level 3 next time», then I realized that I do have taste buds after all, and that I need to take baby steps, especially here at Wuji”s. If there’s one takeaway I must leave you with before I go on a tangent about how much I adore spicy food, it is this: the spice levels are not one to fux around with. Here at Wuji’s, they take their spicy food VERYSERIOUSLY, so make sure you CHOOSEWISELY. Ordering a level 4 out of curiosity when knowing in your right mind that you can only handle a level 2 will send you off into the oblivion of pure nothingness while making you scream«I WANTMYMOMMY!!!». **Excessive consumption of water and wiping of the forehead from perspiration may occur. TIPS: –Make sure to throw your raw meats and veggies in the boiling pot prior to the fire being exhausted after 45 mins. After that, it’ll be more difficult to thoroughly cook your food as the pot will no longer be boiling. –Reservations are highly recommended as it can become incredibly busy during dinner time. –This is a CASHONLY venue. This is a legitimate Taiwanese-style spicy hot pot spot! So there are 5 levels of spiciness(1 to 5), with Level 5 as the spiciest. Beware that if it’s your first time here and you can only handle a mild spicy then go with level 1 or 2! I got the Beef Mala Pot spiciness level 2 with a side order of shrimp to add to my hot pot. Beef Mala Pot had generous amount of Vegetables, Tofu, Fish ball, Beef Tendon, Stewed Tripe, Pork Intestine and glass noodle. I asked the server if they could remove the Pork intestine, replace it with shrimp and they said I could only remove but not remove & replace. so that’s why I just ordered the side of shrimp. Fast forward with all the waiting for our food game… our individual hot pots came and it was nomnoms time. Level 2 spicy felt more like Level 3… Merica S.‘s fiancé got level 4, he said it felt like level 5 and he had level 5 before. Haha. We had to put a lot of our lettuce into the soup so it soaks in the spiciness then remove to put it on an empty dish. The spiciness was still there but not too crazy when we first started eating. This place gets pretty busy so to make sure you make reservations!

This is a really difficult place to get seats for! You literally have to come early and wait by the door to get your name on the list! This place is tiny and they utilize all the space they can get. They even set up tables outside to accommodate more people. Remember that if your party is not present at the time your name is called, they will not seat you at all! There’s a long list so they will move on! My whole family each ordered our own hot pot. Although, thinking about it now, I think my mom and I could have shared one pot. It was large enough for us to do that. We all ended up packing the leftovers home! I ordered the beef mild hot pot. I was so fun to eat! I mean you get to dunk your own glass noodles and beef strips into the pot. You cook it and eat it right there. I mean how fun is that? I have to admit that I was not so excited about trying the tendons. I usually don’t eat it at all, but for this hot pot I sampled them all. It was a good choice to make! The tendons were so tender and it literally melted in my mouth. I also love the addition of the fish balls and cabbages! It was a good balance with the spicy broth. One thing that I probably should have done differently was dunk in all of cabbages at once. I think this would have help with sweetening the broth. I left it to the end and I think the broth got a little salty because of it. Or maybe the broth was meant to be salty but who knows! I don’t think I can increase the spice level for this hot pot. Mild at 0.5 was good enough for me. But if you’re up for the challenge, go for it! Be warned though! Things might get a little spicy! Oh and if you can’t handle the spice, they also have another broth made from milk that is not spicy at all. My nieces at this one and they seem to like it! Lastly, parking is so stressful here! This plaza is filled with restaurants but there are limited spaces! So coming early is always good. Or else you just have to stick it out!
