Willow Glen High School

Went to a play here tonight. Nice grounds, reasonable but dated facilities.

I am a WG mom and I thank God that we have such a great school in our neighborhood. I had two sons graduate from there (WG Middle and Elementary too). The staff is kind yet TOUGH! The resources that the community contributes like «Beautification day» keep the pride level high. One of my sons was struggling really hard and lost focus, instead of giving up on him — we got so much love and support he was motivated and graduated on time thanks to many teachers and Mr. Gallegos!
The sports programs ROCK (more attention to Cheerleading and the band would be good), and I was so glad to see the pride all the kids have to participate in parades «Founders Day», Mother/​son & Father/​daughter dances, and all kinds of crazy dress up days. PROM time in WG is taken very seriously.
A family member of mine is a Principle in Contra Costa County and trust me we are blessed beyond belief for what we have as a community and school. The Prom there was a «dance» and nobody even bothered to dress up or bring a date — so I guess it was only a dance.

I enjoyed my time at WGHS… had a lot of good times there… :-)

We have been coming here for our Relay for Life meeting, which will be happening on May 14 and 15, 2011.
The school is clean and well taken care of, and we have never seen anything bad happening here.

Cool place to get your education, I suppose. Not to toot my own horn but I feel like I didn’t have to try too hard to ace all of my classes while going here. Class of 06! I guess this means the curriculum wasn’t too difficult?
There are lots of cliques, but thats to be expected from any high school.
Best part about WGHS? The Career and Services Center’s Mrs. Louis Gill. This HS would be a 1 star without her. She’s amazing and cares about the students that come to her. She helps students apply to colleges/​scholarships, etc. She’s amazing. I’d go to this HS just for her.

Janeth, I didn’t have any of the same teachers as you, but I graduated in ’88.
I loved this school. Clean, fun, good teachers, and a great social experience. I learned a lot, and I grew not just academically, but also socially. There are great people in the neighborhood, and it shows in the caliber of student you find at this school.

I hated this high school…
The students aren’t very friendly… Teachers are good but the school is not very motivated. Not to many fights or violence on campus but the school is very old fashioned and the classrooms look historic…

Willow Glen High School is actually where I attended and graduated school. At the time when I went there (2001 – 2004), it wasn’t pretty bad for its time. Everything is well structured (it is a high school for crying out loud), the curriculum, the teachers, the classes provided, classes you can take for credit that can be applied to the college you attend, the after school activities and the safety of the children/​adults (those who were 18 or older in 2004).
There weren’t many gangs, nor violence and people didn’t get shot or shanked in all my years of attending. (O.K. O.K. possibly got shot off school grounds and we’d find out about it over the intercom the next day). Let me re-​phrase what I stated, there weren’t many gangs, nor violence and people didn’t get shot or shanked in all my years of attending on school grounds. Few drug dealers here and there catered towards the rich Willow Glen students. I did hear once that this girl took one of her friends in the bathroom and they were sniffing cocaine. (yea, tell me about it).
Offering them 4 stars because:
— There were a good majority of teachers that taught here. Most memorable:
Mr. Michael Andres for teaching me the correct usage of «which» and not what. Like, «Which size did you want?» All all the wonderful knowledge he’s taught me like teaching James Joyce and translating Shakespeare’s Othello. He’s a great film teacher as well, take that with your English ⁷⁄₈ class.
Mr. Eric Statchnick for teaching me to go in D for volleyball.
Dr. Jeanette Ekeruo for making Economics Class not so boring.
Mr. Santamaria for never giving up on me in Psychology.
— Because Dub G is Dub G.
— One last star for «Cookie» on her go-​kart for catching me and other kids cutting school during lunch just to go to Jack-​in-​the Box, Phở or Valleyfair Mall. Now, I am regretting losing my time in education.
Anyways, I’m always going to be a «Dub G Ram for life!» :)
