Uncle Ray’s Catering Service

They had great food and awesome service. Cleanliness was superb. Interestingly, when my meal arrived I immediately noticed it looked better on the plate than in the picture. The chicken kabob was amazing with the house made hummice. To welcome us as first time customers the owner thanked us with fresh tea and cream puffs. Yum.

We had Uncle Ray cater our wedding in Burlingame over the July holiday weekend and everyone was raving about how good & juicy the kabobs came out. The service was also on time at the hotel and each kabob was made into 4 pieces since we had it for appetizer. He provided excellent service! Thanks Uncle Ray!

Holy cow!!! Way way beyond our expectations. We had a birthday party in a church hall, and 3 waiters, plus Uncle Ray and a helper. 80 People. We chose him based on the Unilocal reviews. Ray is a pro, who is emotional about his food, and your budget and making you happy. It ran like clockwork, with trays replenished as they were emptied. All of the arrangements were completely transparent to the guests, except for the following quotes «I’ve never had catered food this good.» «The choice of Persian food is remarkably refreshing, not the same old smashed beans and rice.» I lost count of how many people wanted to know about Uncle Ray.
The food was splendid: absolutely fresh, beautifully season and presented. He even has antique silver chafing dishes which added an elegance to the party. He provided a spicy sauce to go with each sauce, in case people wanted more spice.
We started the menu selection by saying we wanted everything, and then we discovered we could not afford «everything.» They made the suggestions about what to cut. Nobody could have told there was anything missing. Like a whole salmon, for example.
I could not be happier with Uncle Ray: he’s professional, warm, interested in what you want, and can make great suggestions about people’s eating habits. I’m sorry I’m not going to see him with the regularity of the last couple of weeks. Have no fear about Uncle Ray’s.

We Had Mr. Ray provide the catering for our wedding. We were referred to him by a friend and had never worked with him prior to wedding plans.
Prior to event date:
— Uncle Ray is super nice and professional. Had a great menu layout, all details clearly explained. He helped us pick the best custom package for our big day. He even took the time to go over details other than catering to help us ease the process of planning. No need to say how perfect the food tasting was. We only had to go there once since he did an amazing job the first time.
On the day of the event:
— His professional staff and him took care of many things on the day of the event. They also picked up responsibility for setting up pastries and coffee table, a beautiful fruit table and serving champagne to our guests.
— Dinner was spectacular! simply delicious and the setup was done very well. We even ended up with left-​overs to have for next day at home :)
All of our guests were talking about the delicious dinner they had. One of my friends told me she never goes for a second round, but with this great food she couldn’t resist running back.
I highly recommend Uncle Ray for his service and quality of food and reasonable pricing for all that he provided. He made our wedding night a special one to remember. We can’t thank him enough! Merci Agha Reza :)

My husband and I love this place.
Standouts of our first experience are… THE SERVICE: very attentive. We were brought a variety of sauces to try running the spicy range. Our bread and hummus never went empty. … THE HUMMUS: house made, amazing. THE FOOD: I had a beef kabob wrap and my husband had a combination beef and chicken kabob plate. All was perfectly well done. Flavoring was wonderful, quantity was large, rice and other accompaniments were great.
Since then I have discovered their take out. Food is always ready when we arrive and delicious as expected. Uncle Rays is on my way home from work, so easy to call in the order as I elave work and have a great dinner as soon as I am home.
We will definitely keep coming back!

We get take out from here once or twice a month since it is so close to our house and the food is really good. The rice is always fluffy and flavorful, and the chicken and ground beef koobideh are always our favorites. I usually get lamb as well but it is often a bit dry — I will mention this to them next time and hopefully they can improve.
We also really like their sauce that they include — similar to a 1000 Island dressing, it is very good mixed with some spicy chili sauce and mixed up with rice or for dipping the meat in.
They are also doing business as Real Kabob.

If you’re looking for kabobs, or Persian food in general than this is the place to go!

Got lured to this place through Groupon. Was not expecting much but was pleasantly surprised by the quality of their kabobs, kufta, lamb chops. Top notch, one of the best in the area. Friendly service. I would go there again even if i dont have groupon.

Uncle Ray has catered several parties for us. The last one was a baby shower at our house in May 2013. We were very pleased with the food and service and everyone complimented us on how professional everything was.
Uncle Ray spends a good amount of time trying to understand each client’s unique requirements and needs and does an excellent job of meeting and exceeding those expectations. By the end of the party, everyone wanted a business card for our caterer :)

Uncle Ray’s catered my 40^th birthday and it was all wonderful. He and his crew could not have ran a smoother show. The food was an absolute hit and even days later I have my guests emailing me with compliments and asking who this caterer was. I am happy to recommend Uncle Ray.

GREAT service and AMAZING food for my wedding day.
My uncle and aunt had been to an event catered by uncle ray a couple years ago. The food and service were so impressive that they asked him to cater for a small event at their home. Still impressed, we asked him to cater for my 200 guest wedding.
Uncle Ray not only cooked and catered, but also provided almost ALL the services for my wedding this past summer. He contracted the valet, rentals, waiters/​bartenders/​hostess, and cake.
My family worked with him to plan the event because I don’t live in the area. I know that they gave him a really hard time by stressing out and changing their minds, but he was very professional and patient.
He invited us all over for a lunch at his restaurant to help us choose what we wanted at the event. He came over to the venue countless times to answer questions and finalize plans. He was there with his staff bright and early on the wedding day to set up. Everything was perfect! His staff was very competent and professional.
My wedding was a mix of Persians and Americans so we asked him to make sure that he have some traditional persian dishes as well as some that we were sure the Americans would enjoy. I’m still getting compliments on how amazing the food was and how great the bartenders made the drinks.
He has shown to be a good and honest man. I have a very hard time believing the bad reviews.

service was terrible, will never work with this vendor again. stole $ 6000 from my non-​profit group. breach of contract. gave a $ 6000 check that bounced and his account was closed after we try to collect our money.
when confronted gave us some lame excuse.
trying to say event was much smaller than he was told.
there were 10,000 people in the event including governor of California!
he told us to get rid of all the other vendors so he could have the whole event to himself, in return he gave us the $ 6,000 check to rent the space and be the only vendor at the event, and the check bounced and account closed. shame on him. If you are Hamvatan, don’t give him your business.

The owner of Uncle Ray’s Catering is a thief who stole from his own people here is why?
If you live in Northern California you might remember the June 14^th Even in San Francisco dedicated to the People of Iran and the Green Movement… well if you don’t remember we had a rally dedicated to the Green Movement and the People of Iran. This was a professional event with professional planners and the City Hall involved our Stage Manager was the same guy who does all the main event’s in SF. To make more money to pay for the costs of the event and to send money to Iran for example for Reporters without Borders, we decided to hire food vendors $ 1000 per booth. The owner for Uncle Ray told us he would pay us $ 6000 if we only let him sell food at the event instead of hiring other vendors. He was very nice and we trusted him and we agreed with his offer. So he was the only vendor, the SF police reported 10,000 people showed up to that event that day and who knows how much money Uncle Ray made. He gave us a check for $ 6000 and when we went to put the check in the bank it bounced, the account was closed. We contacted him and he refused to pay, we searched for legal ways of getting the money and the money and the time spent on lawyers would have been more difficult specially for all of us volunteers who worked so hard (3 moths) to put together this event… this guy is a total crook and I was so disappointed that he would do such a thing for such a beautiful cause. I am ashamed that he calls himself an Iranian and I know that he will answer to someone someday. I hope the Iranian community sees this and refuses to give service to such a man.

Uncle Ray was our wedding caterer. We selected him mainly because of couple of 5-​start recommendations we had about him. They were are nothing but true.
Uncle Ray personally supervised the whole catering function of the 150-​ppl wedding (and even more!) Prior to the wedding, we gave him the ceremony and reception table charts. On the day of event, all preparations happened transparently to us. Everything was on time as they were planned.
Cocktail hour appetizer was very delicious (ask for Shrimp and Koobideh pieces — so yummy and fantastic presentation). The dinner got prepared with all details in place. I am not a cook, but you do the math when Persian moms like the food!!! All our guests were happy and asked if who our caterer was. Uncle Ray even arranged for a very nice presentation of bringing the wedding cake to us at the time of cake cutting. I remember his staff and himself running around all evening. They didn’t cut any single corner and made sure everything went perfect.
We are very pleased with his service and he surely deserves another 5 star recommendation.
Will we hire him for our future events? Definitely!!!
