Thomas More School

With the closing of St Lawrence Academy the search is on for a smaller Catholic High School in Silicon Valley. I was happy to discover Thomas More School is a K-​12 private Catholic school located right here in San Jose with 200 students.
Tuition is only $ 400 month. The school operates independent from the San Jose diocese. The campus consists of a church, gym and a set of classrooms. They are a tight knit community. The website is outdated and they have a wait list so your best bet is to stop by and patiently wrangle a tour.
I caught the tail end of Mass (7:45 AM) and school assembly afterwards. School office is near the back of campus on right hand side.
They are pre-​Vatican II so expect traditional Latin Mass — a great way to learn a foreign language! The school was founded in 1978 and is located in a decent neighborhood near Raging Waters in South San Jose.
The Thomas More School’s mascot is the Knights. Their Cross Country, Volleyball, Soccer, Basketball and Baseball teams compete in the PSAL Private School Athletic League where they play against: Downtown College Prep (SJ), Alma Heights Christian (Pacifica), Jewish Community (SF). Kehilah Jewish (SF), KIPP (SJ). Latino College Prep (SJ), Liberty Baptist (SJ), Mid-​Peninsula (Menlo Park), Mt View Academy, North Valley Baptist (Santa Clara), SF Christian, St Lawrence (Santa Clara — closing 2016), Summit Prep (Redwood City) and University Preparatory Academy (SJ).

We come here a couple of times per year for volleyball. The school is located in south San Jose in an ok area. I don’t know anything about the curriculum but the gym is fairly nice. It serves as a gym and performance area. They have electronic score keeping and a decent net. The only knock I have is the poor sportsmanship of the kids on their team. Personally I don’t think you should ask the big guy in the sky for points.

Tradtional Latin mass school. Sticks to the tradtions of pre vactican 2. Awesome teachers, great kids and great curriculum. I highly recommend St thomas more school. I went there when I was in school and now my kids are there too. Very pleased and I know you will be too.
