We had our 11-​year olds birthday party here. It was great! We had both beginners and intermediates. Kevin held a brief mini-​tutorial on basics, and set up some fun games to try. The kids all said they had a great time. Highly recommend!

It seems to me that most people come here to practice table tennis fundamentals and not play actual games to 11 in my exp. Which is not a bad thing it’s just different from my club.
Players are well over the rating of 1000 forsure. Come in hit a few! Make new friends talk table tennis its all here at The Top Spin!
p.s they have a small brick and mortar shop up front if you need to purchase equipment and most of their equipment is fair priced!

Still the best place to play. Nice people, good tables, lot of tables, good equipment and a lot of room to play even over weekends.

I agree with some of the reviews posted earlier below and i will highlight the recent changes. This club was about to shutdown but got taken over by a new management few days back. There is also a notice to consider the venue for turning to a residential place but it may take few years. The venue is pretty old and some are still under construction or looks unfinished close to entrance. Tables are good condition. One can find couple of players above 2000 or else most are around 1700 usatt rating. Only adults unless kids accompany parents.
There isn’t a big crowd and i haven’t seen all tables occupied at any time over last dozen visits. At most 20 players over weekend and 8 players during weekdays. Most folks are vietnamese (75 – 80)% and most tend to play among themselves and not respectful of who is in the line. No Fair Play here. The rules are there but no one follows and and some adults behave like kids. The cost is $ 8 and i think its too high for a facility like this which is keeping most customers away.
They don’t provide even water which any business should do as a basic amenity. No shower rooms and clean change rooms. The facility is not completely enclosed and becomes harder to play during summer with humidity.
World Champions Table tennis academy which was part of topspin has moved out from this month.
There are better clubs which charge less and has better facilities or social group within 10 mile radius. The crowd is not cosmopolitan which is a big turnoff here.
Not getting a cent from me anymore.

best ping-​pong spot in the south bay!

I dropped in yesterday evening (Friday) and I had a good time. People are fairly nice and you can find all skill-​level you want. I haven’t played for a long time but I still enjoy the game quite much.
This place might not be ideal for new player. You should at least play table-​tennis two years seriously in your life — i.e. some league team in school. You don’t have to be a pro but you should be at least an amateur. If you just want to «learn» table tennis, people here are for fun, but not very eager in coaching :) You can always pay for coaching.
I don’t like the top ceiling and light (it’s too reflective), but not that bad. Everything else is very decent. They charge $ 8 for drop-​in, $ 66 for 10-​time visit card, and $ 390 for annual membership.
A few tips I learned:
— Bring your own water (or banana). They do sell drinks, but I can’t find filtered water anywhere.
— Dress before you come by. The bathroom is clean, but not big. No shower room as well. So bring your own towel if you like.
— More than 50% people here are Vietnamese and Chinese. Some of them speak very limited English, but that’s not a problem — you can still play; just remember to smile and have fun.
— Tables close to the entry are «pros». You can challenge any table but be sure you observe them in a side line for a while to gauge how good they are.
— Friday evening is fairly busy when I visited (around 6pm), but not crazy packed so I can still find a game in 10 minutes.

I attended the first week of summer camp and it was definitely world class. The coaches had an eye for detail and helped me gain my fundamentals. Their critiques were so helpful that even after the camp I know exactly what I need to work on and improve my game. The facility was excellent. The coaches were also very friendly and wanted to get to know each person more. They genuinely want each of their players to improve. I definitely plan on coming back after improving my technique on my own time.

Love this place. I have been going here for years. I recently got engaged so I play a lot less but if I had the time to get usage out of a yearly membership I would totally go for it.
To me this is the best table tennis club in the Bay Area. Most people don’t know this, but the Bay Area is the strongest area for table tennis IN OUR NATION. Most of our London 2012 Olympic team comes from here and all of them train here in San Jose.
They frequently use our club facilities and they hosted the Olympic Trials here.
They have great tables, great floors (which is really important to players who play off the table), and good ceiling height.
Club is Vietnamese owned so you’ll see quite a few Vietnamese players. Vietnamese players tend to be quite cold at first but once you get to know them they are VERY friendly.
Even after I’ve been missing from the club for almost a year, I came back and people still remembered my name and were greeting me. Love this place.

Rubber matting, high quality tables, friendly owners, and competitive players, what can a table tennis player ask for? Have been here 2 times to teach/​play with my girlfriend and it was an excellent experience. The second time I decided to prepay for future visits with their player card. The annual membership was a little too steep for a college student like myself, $ 390.00… I can just tear up thinking about it being more expensive than a 24 Hour gym membership.
There are a lot of tables and very good players here. I’m not a pro or anything, but I can say that I do get mesmerized when I see and hear a good rally.

The NEW Topspin is even better than the old one, with great tables and many excellent players. This is a friendly family run business. They even serve delicious sandwiches and smoothies. This is the place to play if you’re in the Bay Area and want to see or participate in great quality table tennis.
The TopSpin is also home to one of the best training programs in the nation that feature several international stars of the Table Tennis world. Stefan Feth, the US National Men’s Head Coach, Li ZhenShi, a four time World Champion, Zhang Li, a four time World Champion, and Nan Li, formerly on the US National Women’s Team.

Beautiful facility: spotless, has Wi-​Fi, juice bar, Vietnamese food, snacks, drinks and tables for eating, playing chess (with chess set), doing computer work or homework. Open 7 days a week. Players: from beginners to elite. Co-​owned by a very friendly couple (one a table tennis player) and a former serious t.t. player. Many instructors, including elite training by the World Champions Table Tennis Academy. Just wish it were closer to Oakland!

I have not actually played here yet, but I will soon. I came here because I wanted to purchase my first custom paddle setup. I called ahead of time and asked the owner some general questions and advice as well as price ranges and all of his responses were friendly and helpful.
My wife and I stopped by to look, and he showed us a variety of different setups, and never pressured us in any way. He advised us to come back early the following week because he said he was getting a shipment of less-​expensive, intermediate racquets. He advised us against spending too much on our first setup as beginners until we fully develop our style. He also advised us to come back in gym clothes and try out the variety of racquets they have available for rental/​testing so that we could determine our preferences so he could match us a similar setup within our price range.
The gym is clean, air conditioned, no bad smells, brightly lit, has a smoothie bar and snacks available for sale, as well as a variety of equipment.
Overall a great experience. The owner was enthusiastic, friendly, knowledgable, and very helpful. He was happy to tell us to wait a few days to buy something less expensive and more suited to our needs and level instead of trying to sell us whatever he had on hand.
Truly an A+ way of doing business.

Well kept table tennis ‘club’. I went today with a friend and play around two hours worth. The tables are in good condition and you have the walls so the ball does not get too far. Prices are great, $ 8 all day, $ 5 for lunchtime special (11am-​2pm). They also have a shop and sell food/​drinks/​table tennis equipment. Don’t forget their ping pong robot! Overall great venue, no qualms at all. Will visit again!

I’ve never come here to play. I actually own a Japanese paddle, which has rubber on one side only. I went to this store to see if they could attach rubber on the back-​side, even if there was cork and paint making it harder to do so. The owner of the shop did an AMAZING job at cutting a part of the back-​side cork, sanding down the paint, and gluing on new rubber. It was done in 1.5 days and they even gave me a discount for paying cash. The store people are very nice and the venue and tables look like its being kept in good condition.

My wife got excited when we walked in the door. seeing how she’s from china and she loves table tennis. We watched every table filled for a Saturday afternoon. The owner was very hospitable and answered all our questions and told us the best times to come back. I really think he needs a bigger place. But it’s well laid out and good sized room for playing. Forgive my amateur review of this place, I am by no means a professionally trained ping pong player. Just a recreational ‘for fun’ kind of girl that shows up in jeans when everyone else is in gym shorts and high socks.
This is a pretty nifty venue – exclusively a tennis table gym for the public; akin to a pool hall (but, you know, for ping pong). It’s great wholesome fun, the proprietor is this nice old man that also hawks food/​drinks and equipment for the players.
From my count, there are 10 tables that are spatially divided by low spacers. At $ 6/​table for two players, it’s probably a little steep but I don’t know of any other place like Top Spin. Although the floors could use a good sweep (pretty dusty in the corners) I still recommend this place.

Awesome place to play some table tennis. They have wood floors and their tables are great. I counted 9 – 10, with one equipped with a ball machine. The person who helped me and my friend seemed friendly appreciative for our business. Their pro shop has a lot of stuff too. I’ll definitely be going back.

I just had my first decent table tennis paddle custom made while I waited. This is the only place in the Bay Area that I know of that has good quality hardware, very nice staff and is well-​lit. I will definitely be returning when I need stuff.
